Keep a happy thought in the MMP!

It sure is. Including and especially my fellow Mumpers.

Sounds like a good idea~ :plate_with_cutlery: :clinking_glasses:

Awww…

Or just eat butter and capers. That’d be fine for me.

Give it about 3 weeks for the pent-up craziness to die down in the meantime go to their website and look up their Fearless Flyer newsletter and tiptoe around. Has their specials, recipes, seasonal goodies. Plus you can print off a shopping list. It will be worth it when you can go but maybe that will hold yah for a wee bit.

Glad something is helping. Stretches are a wonderful thing, I agree. Think that is now “I third that”.

A pizza gift card is perfect. The place will deliver salad too, lots of flavors, reheats well.

Thanks :dancer:t3: :man_dancing:t2:

See above. :slightly_smiling_face::pizza::pizza::pizza::pizza::pizza::green_salad::green_salad::green_salad:

As long as my San Antonio son has warning and moves back to the upper 49. Plus all Mumpers and their loved ones.

Well, hell, there’s a bunch that want Oregon, CA and WA to join together to form “Pacifica” and secede. There’s always somebody who seriously thinks that’s a good idea.

South Carolina almost seceded from the Confederacy
It’s all fun and games till you have to negotiate a bunch of treaties.

wordy, another here for a gift card to a restaurant or cleaning service. No clutter and a welcome relief from some of the necessary chores.

nellie, my sister in Houston has been without power and under a boil order for several days. She has a generator (normally used when hurricanes hit) and gas range / heat, so she’s not as impacted.

doggio, yes, there are rednecks in Texas who spout off the secession crap, but look at the map. Texas is slowly turning purple. Houston, the fourth largest city in the USA, and Austin are solidly blue and other parts are beginning to come around.

We’re still getting snow. The flakes are sparse, but it’s still coming down. I went out to brush off the car this afternoon so that, should irk be open tomorrow, there isn’t as much. The family two doors down, including their Aussie and some of the kids from the complex across the fence were outside making a snow fort / igloo and having a ball. I took the neighbors some books and a craft kit for the kids (leftover from the heathen children) and a new toy from the stash for Molly. I like that they get out and do things with their family.

I’m wondering how much snow we’ll get overnight. Sixty degree temps are predicted for late next week. :open_mouth:

Encore!

“Fun” day. Same weirdness in call distribution persists, and I do wish the girl in a queue she’s not qualified for would talk to someone who can DO something about it, not just vent to me.

Accidentally set off something among management today. I had inquired of our very nice HR gent as to why my PTO accrual didn’t match with the employee handbook. He inquired of Payroll, and lo and behold, there’s a revised version of the handbook that NO ONE on my site knew about, including grandboss, under which my rather stingier accrual rate is now correct. Both HR guy and grandboss are rather irked that THEY had not been informed said update even existed, and both seemed to appreciate having found out. I asked grandboss if those upstream of her were ever going to try actual workplace communication and she just sighed.

Evening all. Realized late that I have not added anything since this morning, since I have (for me) been active. Bathroom tile floors have been cleaned, sheets stripped and washed, bills mailed, and lots and lots of soccer watched (Europa League–it’s a European thing…). Have printed out a 64 page ‘how-to’ for being a soccer coordinator since I promised to do the 7U Boys this season, so that will be my reading material…tomorrow. Mostly organizing teams and finding (begging for) coaches. Also plan to coach a 10U girls and 12U boys team. season supposed to start Mid-March, so I hope the weather is due for an improvement soon…

Nettie, the FUBAR is strong in your head office…good luck.

BBBoo, congrats on the jab. I still haven’t heard a thing here in N. Ali-bama, may have to check in again about my request.

VanGo, we’re supposed to be getting a Trader Joe’s here in N. Ali-bama soon, along with a What-A-Burger. We’re almost modern folks here…

FCM, managed not to have to shovel, all the snow on the driveway and roads has melted–of course, it’s going below freezing tonight, so ice is probable…oh joy.

Pilot, enjoy your quick beach trip–at least more than a certain Texas Senator…

Cookie, I thought I was being frugal only having to fill my gas tank once a month…you planning on keeping the car until the 22nd century?

shoe, hope the washer is salvagable. No advice on the dryer, I almost never peek at mine. So far, so good…

talky, I think your ideas are good ones and don’t feel guilty about doing good.

OK, after 11pm and I’ve already turned the heat down to sleeping temperature, so need to crawl into bed soon. All y’all take care.

Goooooooooooooooooood morning!

Actually, I should whisper since most of you are sleeping.

It’s Friday, and I will start my work day with a meeting, followed by another meeting. Seems to be a theme.

Happy dance for the vaccinations received and scheduled. Hope there’s no weather disturbing the continuing roll out of the vaccine. There are enough problems with distribution as is.

There’s supposed to be some more drizzle this morning. After that should be sunny for the next 5 days.

Today’s lunch is from the freezer: So Long Soup from John Hinterberger, the long ago food critic of the Seattle Times. I clipped it out of a newspaper more than 20 years ago and still make it 2-3 times a year (it makes a lot for just two people). I was going to make chicken tacos for lunch, but that means I have to do something in the kitchen, which is rather difficult if I’m in a meeting. So that’s tomorrow’s lunch.

Time to change to the work computer and see if I can do something directly productive.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Nettie, PTO accrual rates are classified material? My mind is blown.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 44 Amurrkin out with light rain (supposed to be gone within the hour, we shall see) and a predicted high of 54 and who knows for the day. Willy-nilly has become the perpetual state of bein’ for TWPTB it seems. As I have already mentioned, I get my second vaccine jab at nine-forty five this mornin’. I intend to go over to the church house to deal with a couple of church janitor Junior Warden things after that, and then back to da cave. We shall get some fish ‘n chips from somewhere for sup. I have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for fried fish, fries, slaw, and hush puppies. Been wantin’ that for a week! Other than that, we shall wing it through the day.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don appropriate bein’ amongst the public attire. WOE!

Happy Firday Y’all!

Looks like we got rain overnight that froze and glazed everything. It’s supposed to get up to 38° today,. but back in the 20s overnight, so driving will remain treacherous. Sun promised tomorrow - with luck, all the roads will have been treated before I need to leave for my second jab.

I have some granny smith apples and some cream cheese - there’s got to be a recipe that will use both. I shall search, but if any of you have a suggestion. Supper will be my pseudo chickie-n-dumplins/chickie pot pie hybrid thing. Quick, easy, and full of veggies.

I’ve pretty much used up the donated yarn to make 7 lap robes. There are 3 large skeins that I’d bought for my own use - maybe I can come up with a way to use them. I’ll flip thru my pattern books for ideas.

Yep, boring day ahead. Off to search for a dessert recipe.

Happy Firday!!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s grey and rainy outside, windy and generally grim. The weather app says “Rain is fucking bollocks” which I heartily agree with. It also promises me 9C/48F up to 10C/49F, cloudy with light rain. From what I can hear, it ain’t light.

Congrats to those who have been jabbed, be it once or twice! I have a long wait for mine, I think they’re just finished on Priority Group 4 now, and I am in Group 9. Blokie was surprised to get summoned for his as he thought he’d be in the same group as me, but he has asthma (albeit mild) and apparently the kind of meds he uses daily puts him in a different group.

Sunny yes, Bogbrush the Inherently Incompetent has decided that people should be jabbed with whatever they’ve got in stock on the day. There’s a lot of argument going on about the entire vaccination process as they’re delaying the second jab and doing it at anything from 3-12 weeks (despite no scientific evidence that it’s safe or beneficial to do so), and they are also apparently not bothered whether people get the same brand of vaccine for the second shot as the first.

On the happy thought side of things, it’s Friday and I’m about to go and sort out some soup for lunch. That means less than 4hrs until I finish work for the week as I promised myself an early finish today.

Happy Friday one and all. Our weather calls for rain with sun breaks and possibly hail and thunder too. We’ll get everything but snow today.

It’s been a week, and it was supposed to be a short one. But, it’s Friday, so that’s nice.

I am a long way from receiving a jab; I believe they are only on priority group two here in Washington. Since I don’t live in a multi-generational household, don’t have underlying health conditions (to my knowledge), and will only be 57, I probably won’t see a jab until fall.

Speaking of seccession, there is a group in Eastern Washington that wants to separate from Western Washington and call the new state Liberty. The Eastside is much more conservative than the west and is traditionally Republican. I would be surprised if it ever happens. They’ve been rumbling about it for years. The reality is they don’t have the funds to support the infrastructure and everything else that goes with governing and running a state.

I am glad our weather is returning to normal, even if it’s rain because the means I can go back to my park and get my miles in. I will be doing that tomorrow. I may try for a few after work since it’s my “short” 8 hour day and daylight is lasting a smidge bit longer.

Answering just this. I think Granny Smith will work with this as well. It’s a favorite. If my husband knew I was even looking at this recipe, he’d be getting out the puppy dog eyes. Actually, since he’s been doing some baking, he might try making it himself.

https://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/cinnamon-apple-cake

It would be stupid to try to hide that, since it’s super easy for a lowly agent like me to figure it out. I think this one was PHB stupidity, not malice, but granted, one never does know at Hades Annex.

For February, I have some weird problems, namely mosquitoes at a bus stop I use regularly and seasonal allergies running amok.

That looks good. I’ll bookmark it. I found this one:

I’ve got a graham cracker crust so I’ll use that instead of the crust in the recipe. Plus I’ll use some nutmeg with the cinnamon. I think the family will approve.

Day three of Lent and my decaffeinated haze is starting to lift. I can smell Mrs Magill’s coffee, though. We cleared the driveway yesterday afternoon. This afternoon, we’ll clear the road in front of the house. It’s a small suburban town that relies on the State to clear the main roads. I’d say they did a somewhat passible job, but that would be an insult to somewhat passible jobs.

On the work front - my tech down in Georgia finally wired up a circuit I’ve been waiting for since November. I had to seagull him, but sometimes that’s what it takes. Now, I just need to get him to configure some channel banks, or better yet - log into them and share his screen with me while he fucks off and does something else, while I configure them correctly.

Morning all. Up about 0730 and have retrieved newspaper from outside (where it’s 23F). Supposed to be in the 40’s tomorrow and in the 50’s next week, so I expect all the remaining snow will be gone before Sunday. Not much planned for today.

Wizard, had to look up ‘seagull’, I understand now, but don’t check Urban Dictionary…like almost everything there, it has a gross definition too…

Taters, I’m 67, but Ali-bama is so screwed up I don’t know when I’ll even get my first shot. Maybe swampy and OYKW will adopt me…

OK, Instant Breakfast and Banana have been consumed, so onward into the day. All y’all take care.

Yay, Friday! This week has been a blur of ridiculousness at work. I got my part of a huge project done and it’s supposed to launch today. I’m a little petrified since I haven’t used this system before and I had less than a week in which to complete said project, and the project type “requested” by my manager is ordinarily something you’d finish in about a month or two. I’ve already informed her that any errors will be blamed on the new system.

Anyway, drinking coffee like a bandit now; overlygirl is off to school. Overlyboy is pretending to pay attention to class behind me and the husband is still abed because he’s a contractor and apparently contractors wake up just a couple of minutes short of their first meeting of the day.

I desperately need to waddle today. I guess I’ll have to carve out the time. Normally I try to work within the confines of my family’s schedule, but they’re going to have to work in the confines of mine today. So there.

Semi-minor in-law rant: why won’t they ask???

FIL will sit in silence in front of the TV but won’t ask either of us to turn it on for him. I’m sure he’d do it himself but he doesn’t understand streaming TV. It might take me a full 30 seconds to turn it on and find a channel, but he won’t ask and I’m starting to resent always being the one to offer.

MIL opened a cabinet and asked for cups. The cabinet had short glasses, drinking glasses, plastic cups, wine glasses, and coffee mugs. She wanted the coffee mugs, which were on the highest shelf that she couldn’t reach without a ladder. It took some back and forth to get her to say “coffee cup” so I knew what to get her.

On the other hand, I’ve told them nothing in the fridge or pantry is being saved for anything so they can take whatever they want. They still ask if it’s OK to eat certain things.

Deep cleansing breaths…

One thing this week has shown me - living with them would be a challenge. Yeah, that’s the word - challenge. But that’ll never happen - they still refuse to accept their new reality.

OK, end of mini-rant.
