Keep a happy thought in the MMP!

Moooom - I can understand the fridge thing. I’m much the same way myself. At our In person games (Remember having in person anything?), we have a simple rule, any bottle out is for sharing. I’ll still ask before taking the Good Rye. My Mother’s ghost would haunt the shit out of me otherwise, and she’s not even dead!

You did bring up a good point regarding streaming TV. Sure, it would save significantly over cable. Sure, I would be able to get a 1 Gig signal to our router without for of the wires in the cable dedicated to TV. However, I would have to show my MIL how to use the Roku and then how to turn on the streaming service, and she has already decided using the cable box is Too HardTM.

My inlaws were complaining about the cost of their cable, but there’s no way they’d figure out how to deal with streaming. Last time we were there, I set up their DVD player and wrote out very specific instructions (4 steps) for watching a movie, but even that was beyond them. It doesn’t help that they’re technophobes. Which is odd since FIL worked for Burroughs for his entire career - he was a field service tech for the early years. But computers, smart phones, and pretty much anything invented since 1995 scares them both.

I find it really odd, since my mother, who is definitely not a technical person, uses her computer for everything - bills, shopping, games, research - and she’s just 3 years younger than my inlaws. Meanwhile, for my granddaughter, every screen is a touch screen!

It’s a 2016 Mazda CX-5 and only has 10,000 miles on it. We just don’t drive it much, as we can walk most everywhere or take a short drive to the metro station (during non-pandemic times). And during this past year, I probably only put a hundred miles on it. So yeah, it’s probably going to outlast me.

Assuming this was meant literally? Cuz I LOL’d. Hope the heat/stretches/passage of time are helpful.

So? How was … ?

That’s what I’d do!

CITE?!

Not cuz I don’t believe you, but because that sounds like a crazypants story I’d love to read.

Thank you. The problem appears to be with the drainage out of the basement, not with the appliance itself.

So that’s … good news?

Someone 'splain, please and thx? I suspect I may have guessed (wrong?) but googling the term took me into … unexpected territory. Decidedly non-Mumper-esque, which is too a word, behavior.

I have to “clopen” (close tonight, open tomorrow morning) and there are enormous, fat flakes of snow pouring outta the sky this morning. At least it’s not as cold as it’s been.

I’ll adopt you but be warned, Née-brash-ka is cold this time of year. You’ll have the middle bedroom. The cats will decide which one of them you’ll belong to for sitting on your keyboard purposes.

Oh, I haven’t made it yet. I’ll make some sometime this weekend.

I think I might make fish Florentine.

I think that makes it the landlord’s problem. Not that getting a landlord to fix something is necessarily easy…

I don’t quite know the Urban Dictionary definition, but Seagulling comes from an old Dilbert comic about a Seagull Manager - one who flies in, makes a lot of noise, and craps all over the place. When you seagull someone, you compile all the unanswered emails you’ve sent, sent them to the unresponsive person and CC your manager and her higher ups and the other guy’s Managers and higher ups.

Though in my case, my manager actually sent the seagull email. She would rather take the heat, because we have to maintain a working relationship with the field techs.

My 2012 Scion XB, that I bought ‘new’, only has 48k+ miles on it. I just this week filled it for the first time since Christmas.

There’s a group of idjits peeple in central and eastern (and apparently southern) Orygun who want to move a bunch of counties outta Orygun and into Trumpfuckistan Idaho. Now, we are not big fans (at all) of the politicians in Salem, but Idaho? Srsly?

A quiet day here. I need to go to Safeway and pick up a bunch of meds before they put them back on the shelf. We’ll prolly get some groceries while we’re at it. Wifey is headed out to her studio to finish framing a bunch of paintings for a new gallery in Central Orygun that’s opening next month. We will have to run back over there next week to deliver said paintings. We’re supposed to be eligible to get shot starting Monday, but I’m not holding my breath on that account. If we ever get called, we’ll come back. Or maybe we can get shot over there.

I like your explanation of a ‘seagull manager’. Met a few of those over the years, I have.

Be careful out there.

Arg. I feel your pain. May his coalition collapse and his political career end with him whimpering and alone.

My husband and I are calling this Finally, Actually Friday. I started thinking it was Friday on Tuesday. This was the longest “short” week ever.

I like him already.

2 words I hate to see together: “drainage” and “basement”. I wish you luck.

“Seagull” boss - flies in, shits all over your work, and then flies off. I must admit I’m curious what else it could mean. I’ll gird my loins and look in a bit.

Mooomm I think it’s time for assisted living for the in-laws, whether it’s with you or somewhere else. I feel your pain.

I made herb crusted pork chops and green beans almandine last night. I rushed things, so I ended up with mushy beans, and the crust didn’t stay. Oh well, I fed the family. No ideas for tonight. We’ll see where the day takes us.

Like cookie, one item on the agenda is a delayed Valentine’s Day dinner. I’ve got the ingredients safely frozen. If I feel up to it, we’ll have filets and lobster one of these days.

It’s “Poop Day” (animal clean up). Yay?

Take care y’all!

Afternoon all. The snow is pretty much all gone, except in the shaded areas, and they should disappear before too long. We might get about 60F on Wednesday, oh joy.

Outside of a long, hot bath, nothing much has been accomplished this afternoon. I really should finish cleaning the bathrooms, but they are in pretty good shape as is, so not really motivated right now.

Cookie, Bumba, I have a 2017 Dodge Durango with about 37,000 miles in 4 years, which I thought was pretty conservative, less than 10,000 miles/year, but I bow in the presence of real low-usage.

BBBoo, thank you for the offer and I’m sure that I’d get along with both cats and Harriet, but to be honest, Nebraska is just too damn flat. I don’t need mountains, but I do insist on at least some geography…

FCM, like Wizard, I’d be like your parents and ask about taking things out of the fridge, even with your granted permission–do the same when visiting brother. And while I don’t have streaming stuff (I simply don’t watch that much anymore), I’d like to think I could figure it out if I had too…

talky, atta girl, make the rest of those slackers keep in time with you!

OK, need to check on the mail and maybe do a little more cleaning. All y’all take care.

Progress reports have been submitted, a refill grocery run is done, poop has been scooped from the litter boxes, the kitties have gotten their wet food for the day, the garden has been sprayed, the bed changed, laundry done…I’m done! Gonna whomp up a pizza from semi-scratch - pepperoni/mushroom with lots of pepper flake and Naples Drizzle - and while that is getting baked I’m am too. :yum:

Everybody have a safe and happy evening!

Driveway is cleared. My fitbit is very happy with me.

I think I’ll sit on the couch with my lagomorph friend for a bit before I start dinner.

This morning Sunflower had a notice in her inbox that the vaccine #1 would be available for my age group right away. I went on line just after she told me and registered. I have an appointment for 5.30pm tomorrow.

Howdy Y’all! I got shot and as I suspected I would, have been a little puny. I slept for about three hours this mornin’/afternoon. Also, my left arm is sore, but again, I suspected it would be. Feelin’ better now and we et our fish, fries, slaw, and hushpuppies. OYKW got it from Long John Silver’s. Don’t judge! We had a coupon and like their fish. So, all in all, not doin’ too shabby here.

Hippie yay for the appointment to get shot! I was there all of thirty minutes this mornin’, includin’ the fifteen minute wait afterwards to make sure I didn’t keel over.

I was a bit worried that all this weather crap would possibly affect the availability of my shot, but I got a confirmation email, so I’m good to go for tomorrow. The other good news of the day is that our new credit cards showed up!!! This is our third card since the first card was compromised in November. This one has the tap-to-pay feature - is that more secure than the chip? Can it be stolen like swiped cards? Inquiring minds want to know.

Supper was pretty good. I made a loaf of plain white bread since we were almost out of white bread and I didn’t feel like running to the grocery store. I’ll swing by Aldi after I get shot tomorrow and grab a loaf or 2 for the freezer. Laundry tomorrow morning, plus FCD and I will disassemble the pellet stove in his shop since it won’t fire - I think I needs to be cleaned on the inside, so we’ll remove the side panels and suck out all the crud. Fun.

But the rest of tonight is for chillage, and pie later.

“O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
We are scheduled to get shot next Thorsday morning. Yamhill County Health is way more organized than whoever is running things up in Portand. We signed up with them last week and this morning we got an e-mail telling us how to schedule our shots. Easy-peasy. We are happy. Of course, this means we can’t go back to Central Orygun this weekend like we planned, but we’ll be there in plenty of time.

metal mouse, so Whataburger is headed back north? When I first came to Nashville, there was one on West Charlotte close to where I lived. Sometime during my first year in the area, they left. I always have liked their burgers.

magic nancy, your roads were pretty typical of the way Tennessee does things. When I went to irk this morning, my street was still pretty nasty. By the time I got to the main drag, it was clear.

cookie, your car is exactly the kind of used car that I always looked for. Low miles and a “Grandpamobile”, That’s how I wound up driving Mercurys for a few years. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not only irked today, but irked over to get some counts submitted so that they can be adjusted before migration to the new system tomorrow.

Picked up a fish sandwich to go with the leftover soup for supper. Now i’s sleepy.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I’m genuinely happy so many of my Mumper friends are getting vaccinated. I’m trying to go into denial and pretend there isn’t even a vaccine since I’m almost certainly not going to get jabbed until it’s too late to see my beloved sibs this summer. (They’ve all been vaccinated and are making plans. And it has to be summer.) I’m trying hard to be a better person.

I had a great walk today despite the rain. A stranger walking past gave me a flower. A little girl ran up to me and said, “Hi! It’s a nice day for a walk, isn’t it?” And as I walked by a house, two pet pigs joyously snuffled up to greet me. 6.2 miles.

Pilot, yay for getting to go to the DR! One of my good friends is from there, and it’s definitely not Third World…unless you stray into poor Haiti. :frowning: Ironically, she hates the heat and the bugs and only returns to visit family. Go figure.

shoe, will your landlord take care of the basement drainage issue? Also, how are you feeling about having moved to the Mitten? I love that state and am hoping you still like it now that you’ve seen its worst weather.

Mooooom, no doubt about it: having FIL and MIL living with you would take adjustments and a lot of patience. How is FCD coping? I hope something can be worked out so FIL stays off the road. I shudder to think of the probabilities.

Taters, my daughter lives in eastern Washington. She rolls her eyes constantly over this Liberty nonsense. If it weren’t for her and her husband living there, I’d say let 'em go.

swampy, hope the effects wear off soon. Hush puppies…yum!

Happy dance :woman_dancing:t3::man_dancing:t2::woman_dancing:t3::man_dancing:t2:

:man_dancing:t2::woman_dancing:t3::man_dancing:t2::woman_dancing:t3::man_dancing:t2: Happy dance again. And I have no clue about the difference in cards between tap to pay and the chip. My main card is beginning to get fussy and the chip doesn’t always work so I may be finding out soon.

Have heart, it just shook loose for me here all of a sudden and I just read, like an hour ago in the NYT, that the Biden vaccine plan is being quite dogged and successful at getting things moving faster. Plus, new research is coming in, also today, showing that the protection after even just the first shot is much higher than initially thought, so you might be able to make that summer reunion even if you haven’t yourself been able to get in your second dose. That right there cuts off 5-6 weeks. I know how you feel-I haven’t been able to see my sister now for over a year and it feels like forever. First thing I’m going to do after she and I have each had our jabs is to jump in my trusty humble Honda and drive across Iowa to see her. If need be, I’ll drive to wherever you are, pick you up and drive you post haste to whoever they are gathering. As long as I have a corner to read in and am fed more or less, I’m good. Hang in there, kiddo~ on Tuesday, if you’d asked me when I would be first jabbed I would have despaired and said April, at the rate my state was going. Then, boom! Here I sit on Friday, already 30 hours post jab.
