Keep a happy thought in the MMP!

Finally got my pieces to the client, got paid, so yay! Almost got the truck stuck in the snow bank on the side of the driveway, so boo! Gonna try to cook “corned chicken” tonight, so yum? We shall see.

Stay safe, all.

We are really regretting not going shopping last week. The road to get out of our neighborhood is pretty much unpassable. We have plenty of food in the freezer, so no worries there. Kale supplies, OTOH, are getting low. The rabbit may have to eat kibble.

Someone’s having chicken quesadillas tomorrow!

I was born a poor black child. . .

Not really, but I was born in another country - one that doesn’t speak-a da English. So a copy of my birth certificate (translated, with that version certified) is, let us say, an enormous, expensive, and time-consuming pain in the ass.

Now, I’ll let Steve Martin explain my joke above:

I got it.

Howdy Y’all! Did the Ash Wednesday thing, went over to the church house to take care of some [del]church janitor[/del] Junior Warden stuff, went by Sam’s to feed twuck, then sup got cooked (by OYKW) and et. Thus has been the day.

FWIW I say OYKW means Ol’ Y’all Know Who. Like me, he’s fine with bein’ called anything except late to supper. :bear:

MOOOOOM glad FIL is OK, but yikes!

{{{Shoe}}} wait a while and search again. Sometimes that’s what it takes.

All this talk about chicken is making me decide that takeout tandoori chicken is going to be our dinner tonight. We have only one Indian restaurant in this town, and damned if they don’t make the best tandoori chicken I ever had. But their raita is not up to snuff. I do have yogurt and cucumbers in the fridge, so I guess I’ll be making raita while Mr. brown goes and gets the chicken and garlic naan.

{{{FairyChats}}} I hope that you can convince the in-laws to get some help.

sunny, for some folks, no makeup WOULD be a disguise. :stuck_out_tongue:

shoe, once you find / replace your documents, find yourself a small fire box (they run ~$40). I have two. The bigger one holds the vintage family pictures and the small one holds my docs. Mine are both hunter orange, so it’s hard to lose them in 540 square feet.

The plow and salt truck made it to my street ~2 PM, so I went to O’Reilly’s for two ice scrapers. They didn’t have any left that had a long handle and brush, so I’m keeping the old one for the brush part. When I took Nelson out for his afternoon crap, it was starting to sleet again. :scream: In about an hour, I’ll call the weather hotline for irk to see if I’m expected in tomorrow. They’ve already sent second shift home for the evening. Even da Jungle, the USPO and UPS haven’t run trucks all week. da Jungle has sent me several emails to let me know that there has been a delay for my orders.

On the bright side, according to the weather guessers, it will be nice enough this weekend to take Nelson to the dog park. Gotta love Tennessee.

We’ll farts, I forgot a step in the corned chicken. It was brine the heck out of it for 4 days, then in brine for 6 hours. So un brineing now.

Also the pain in the ass (and back and calf) is still here. Whoever it was who suggested sciatica, I think you were right. The suggested stretches help much.

FCM good luck with the in-laws. Scary stuff.

Stay safe, all

I was going to start an excel spreadsheet for Mumpers names, nicknames, and real names, and other info, but I’m not sure how to put that in. ‘Additional info’ maybe?

Went to the dentist this morning for a teeth cleaning. While I was there the hygienist found a suspicious spot, so now I get to have another filling. Oh joy!

When I got home Wifey was in the front yard with one of our friends chopping up debris from our downed tree. I went and got out my chainaw-onna-stick and his eyes lit up, so I let him play with it. We got almost all of the tree branches into the back of our old Ford Ranger, which we borrowed back from the grandson. The years have not been kind to that old truck, but it got us to the transfer station and back. I guess that’s as much as we should ask. If it lasts until grandson can buy himself another vehicle it will have fulfilled its function.[quote=“Sunny_Daze, post:110, topic:932950, full:true”]

I actually did put on some for my CA driver’s license and they made me take it off. Grrr. It’s a policy to make sure that no one is disguising themselves. Or something.

California just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

Be careful out there.

Just got my first injection. Pfizer. Didn’t help any that the paramedics and ambulance crew were there treating someone who’d had a reaction! Didn’t feel the shot at all, but my arm is already starting to twinge.

Scratch pizza for dinner tonight, then a video chat with a friend in Colorado and chillage. Everybody stay warm and stay safe.

[Channeling Ruble] WHAT?? Swampykins is gay??

The shrimp & grits were a success (as they were the first time I made it). I followed the directions on the grits box, but for the shrimp &c. I used the TLAR method. I could probably have done without the carbohydrates, as I know I’ve been putting on weight; but they were good – which is nice, since I can count the number of times I’ve had grits on one hand.

Mrs. L.A. made Vieux Carré cocktails, She doesn’t do them right, but they were good.

Our pseudo-Thanksgiving dinner was good, as was the punkin’ pie. I declared that for dinner tomorrow, I’ll pull all the leftovers out of the fridge and everyone can fill a plate, nuke it, and eat. Looks like my well-planned meal chart has gone out the window, but it worked well enough as a shopping guide. Among the remaining meals I’ll make will be shepherd’s pie and chicken-n-dumplins. Plus we can order pizza or Chinese if we choose.

Now I’m just waiting for the inlaws to finish their showers so I can go to bed. We insisted they use our shower rather than risk climbing in and out of the tub in the hall bathroom. I’m yawning like crazy but there’s not a lot I can do about it. At least I can work on my latest lap robe while half-awake.

The nasty weather is supposed to start here in the wee small hours of the morning. The worst will have passed by noon (theoretically) but who knows what we’re in for - I think nasty sums it up well. As long as it’s decent on Saturday so I can get my second shot.

No, swampy’s gray - he’s a geezer, yanno!! < snerk>

OK, time to get back to my recliner. MWAH!!!

You, sir, are far more penitential than I could ever be (or was). I doff my hat to you.

He has already had at least 3 terrifying close calls (and how did his tooth get broken? A fall perhaps?).This very experienced home health nurse of many years is telling you he has used up all his ‘9 lives’ and is playing with fire. The next event could be it or put him permanently in a nursing home and all this could happen 14 hours drive time distant from you and FCDad, leaving him, at best, at the mercy of a health care system that has no mercy.

It’s time for you or FCD to email either his doctor, or better yet the Florida DMV and report him as a medically impaired driver and they will call him in for driving examiners to test him, ending the whole dangerous deal. You can do this absolutely anonymously-I looked it up a few months ago when you first mentioned it looming. This old nurse is scared for him and your mom from afar.

Heck, blame it on me. I’ve got broad shoulders and I have done it many times for clients, whose families later told me they were glad I had.

Here it is~

It says not just because of age but medical conditions. He has displayed medical conditions-caused episodes, even if he has not gone in and been diagnosed. The bathroom fall, maybe the whatever caused the broken tooth, the wandering trying to drive to be vaccinated requiring FCD to drop everything and drive down there, the multiple episodes of forgetting where he was or being disoriented or ‘absent’ or unrespnsive.

Evening all. Just stepped outside to see if the predicted rain was falling yet and…stepped in about 3 inches of new-fallen snow. It’s supposed to get warmer this evening and rain, so it may be gone by sunrise, but I don’t trust the weather folks one bit right now so it may be another stay-in-the-house day in North Ali-bama.

VanGo, glad you got paid and didn’t get stuck. And bad luck on the chicken. Maybe next time.

Rodent Wizard, let them eat cake!

shoe, got the joke too (another movie I’ve never seen but I know the basics of it).

FCM, you and FCD are going to have to decide if you’re going to take stronger action that could alienate your in-laws, or face the real possibility of ‘that call’ in the not so distant future. I’ve been there (well, mostly my brother as SIL were there and my dad was more malleable after my Mom passed in '91).

quietly, congrats on the jab. What kind of reaction, if it isn’t too personal? I still have to get my shots, and while I’ve never had a bad reaction outside of a sore arm to anything, you never know…

OK, back to readin’ and internettin’. All y’all take care.

Add me to the list of those concerned for our southern Mumpers. My Louisiana sister says if they lose power, she’s SOL, as the roads are impassable. She grew up in Chicago, so if she says they’re impassable, they’re bad.

I walked to the Catholic church (3 miles), but I was too late and too early for ashes. I can’t navigate well in the dark, so sticking around for the 5:30 Mass was not an option. It was a nice walk, though. 6 miles is pretty good for the day. We’re supposed to get rain tomorrow, so time in the sunlight was nice. I can’t do sunshine in the summer, so I really savor these sunshiny days.

Why would you have them on one hand? Why not have them on both, or maybe in a bowl?

That would be me, but I was hoping I was wrong. Glad you’re finding relief through stretching!

Do you get your caffeine from soda? Coffee is allowed. I asked one time.

So I got a Winter Weather Advisory (freezing rain), and a Flash Flood Watch.Welcome to N.C.

{{{{Shoe}}}. Hopefully you can find your documents.

EEk on FiL, Mooommmm!! And I second the report thing.

It’s my usual Lenten Purge of no caffeine and no alcohol.
