Kill off one flavor in Neapolitan ice cream

I’ll just leave this here…

I’ve tried it - it’s not the world’s best ice cream, but the chocolate/vanilla/toffee combination works better than chocolate/vanilla/strawberry

I think raspberry is a better match for chocolate than strawberry. Pear would be even better - if someone would make a chocolate/pear/vanilla Neapolitan, I would be all over that.

I am another who would pitch the whole thing out. I’ve never had good Neopolitan ice cream, so I’ve never sought any of quality out of any exists. The original Italian flavours are more appealing, but a lack of quality would also ruin that given the chance.

Get rid of vanilla. Everybody knows that the strawberry and chocolate in Neopolitan ice cream are far from the right flavor, but then they judge all vanilla by the vanilla in Neopolitan. And that’s a shame, because good vanilla is a delight.

Add me to the ones who would prefer cherry, pistachio and chocolate. As long as they have good flavor - serious yum.

I don’t know if it’s still true today, but for a long time, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry were simply the most common/popular flavors of ice cream. (They were the three canonical shake flavors at places like McDonald’s.)

This was almost exactly my thinking.

I like having all three - because I’ll stick to one flavor each time I have a serving and this provides variety as I finish the carton.

Just don’t mess with Kroger-brand Spumoni ice cream. Those three flavors together are ambrosia.

So I looked this up myself and, yes, this appears to be the case. “Neapolitan ice cream” is an American adaptation of spumoni.

LOL, yes!

That was my reaction to my last container of pistachio “I didn’t realize pistachio was just butter almond colored green!”
