Which was? ![]()
The leather pants, the spray-on tan, the teeth whitening, “Pi-vot! Pi-vot! Pi-vot!”-- sure Ross was a whiny asshole, but damn he had some funny moments. Don’t understand the intense fiery hatred.
Oh god, I recently got to use the “pi-vot!” line while moving some furniture. The other person had no idea what I was talking about and I couldn’t stop laughing. I also like to say “it tastes like feet!” when I’ve eaten something unpalatable. Yes, I think we must spare Ross.
I posted a while back about two friends (;)) who were moving a sofa around a corner in their house–and over top a baby grand piano! One says What do I do now? Guess what I said in my best Ross impression? Ever see a couch being pried out of a piano?
I was, of course, insulting Matt whatever-his-name-was out of sourceless malice. But I never thought he was especially good looking. Matthew What’s-his-face who played Chandler was better looking when not pitifully then from drug use (this hetero guy thinks). Ross of course looked rather like a mongoose without having Rikki-Tikki-Tavi’s compensating badassery.
Can I pick Janice?
Fool of a Took!
Janice was hated by all. She was no one’s friend.
I liked Janice.

No, not really.
If I had to kill one off, I would do so reluctantly, but it would be Phoebe.
Joey.
The decision was pretty easy for me. The Rachel & Ross relationship became completely insufferable after the debacle with his Brit bride, so it had to be one of them. With Chandler & Monica paired off, Rachel had a lot more chemistry with Joey and Phoebe than Ross did, so while Ross did admittedly have some funny scenes, in the larger dynamic, he’d be the easiest one to miss.
Gotta be Joey. (Would have like to have seen Russ and Ursula get together and be the nucleus of the “Anti-Friends”.)
Joey. He was so useless.
Alec Baldwin was playing her relentlessly cheerful boyfriend. See at 2:05 here for her Santa Claus comparison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXPZZsUTNVE
As I said in another Friends thread, the character of Ross may have been annoying, but the producers gave him some of the hottest girlfriends of all time, so he gets to stay.
Joey could be too stupid to live, but the Joey-Chandler friendship actually had a lot of great moments, so I’ll give him a pass.
Sorry to say it, because I love the character and I love the actress, but if I were a writer and had to get rid of one of the characters, it would have to be Phoebe.
It’s because he’s so fugly, I’m telling ya, man.
The obvious choice was Ross, but I opted for Monica. She changed from a basically likeable person to a shrill shrewish person and I can’t stand her whining harpyness.
Yeah – I never understood how he was supposed to be crazy handsome. Chandler’s dry wit was more attractive to me.
Ross, because he brings nothing to the table except whininess and undeserved smug.

(although, come to think of it and despite my vote, Phoebe had my all-time favorite line from the show).

Well ? Don’t leave us hanging, dude.
I concur 100% on this. And I also liked the Rachel character the least. But I’d go with Phoebe. This despite the fact that Lisa Kudrow is a far superior actor. But as a character Phoebe was the most peripheral to central plots and hence from a dollars and cents perspective the most disposable.
This.
