Korn guitarist finds God, leaves band

It’s been a while since Korn was particularly relevant any more, but they were the big metal band of the 90s. It’ll be interesting to see where they go from here.

From CNN:

God moves in mysterious ways. He has blessed us with the extinction of this execrable band.

I guess the whole “pissed off punk” schtick gets old after a while.

Praise the Lord and pass the 80’s hair band CDs !!!

Did he find Khrist?

According to a post on FARK, this had nothing to do with “finding Og”.

Nothing in your cite, JeffyDMan disputes that he underwent a “recent religious awakening”. It sounds as if he probably did, and now all that stuff he made tons of money off is starting the rub him the wrong way.

Ultrafilter – Is there a particular Korn album you recommend?

In fact, it seems to do just the opposite:

Now, if only he could have a similar grammar epiphany:

Israel? Perhaps he’s going to study Kabbalah. Either that, or to try out the great Kebabs.

Either of the first two albums, Korn or Life is Peachy.

Or both. Soon, all the celebrities will be doing Kebabbalah.

Made from swordfish on Friday if they’re also Katholik. Mmmmmm…swordfish.

I would second the first two, especially the first album. I felt like the later albums went downhill and were pretty solidly aimed and marketed at the junior high set (he was right, the “Word Up” video was so God-awful it was uncomfortable to watch), but their first album was well done and had a really unique sound.

First Dave Mustain, and now this.

What is rock and roll coming to? What happened to “live hard, die young, and leave a good lookin’ corpse?”

I feel really old.

Well, Korn discovered Limp Bizkit and gave them their first big break. Maybe “Head” feels if he starts atoning now he may possibly avoid the particular pit of hell that crime against humanity merits.

Oh man, I’m so sad. KoRn’s hung together for so long. Best wishes to Head, though. Hopefully this won’t delay the new album or the Korn Kovers.

Eh. Really, the list of rockers who found religion and quit (often to come back) is very long… I think Jerry Lee Lewis may’ve been the first, and it doesn’t go back much farther than him.

There’s no possible way to atone for that sin.

The Rev. Al Green? Yusuf Islam?..struggling to think of others…

Little Richard probably did it six times by his lonesome.

And Bob Dylan.

A friend of mine posted this in her LIiveJournal with the subject: Jesus Breaks Up Korn. For which I say “Thank you, Lord, hallelujah.”
