Here’s the situation: Rand Rover made a shitty argument (namely, that being gay is different from being black because you can’t prove that someone is gay) and explained it in a ludicrous fashion (I’m gay. Prove I’m not.)

The argument isn’t really worth being taken seriously, so people are making fun of him for his stupid argument instead of taking it seriously.

That’s all.

If you need to turn that into a lynch mob, you need help.

Rand Rover - one of the more reliably predicatable posters on this board, came out and said that he not only supported gay marriage (i.e., he would vote in favor of it), but that he condemned NC for voting against it. That’s progress, folks! Celebrate it, don’t pull a “no true Scotsman” because he didn’t fly down to North Carolina and protest on main street.

I don’t engage much with RR, but was he ever against SSM? He’s a Libertarian (and I capitalized that on purpose), I think, not a Republican. I know those are often considered synonymous in these parts, but they ain’t. Especially on issues like this. And isn’t he an atheist, to boot?

He cold be married to someone of the same gender. Come to think of it he may be a she considering the infatuation with one of the posters on thsi board. And if that is the case, its not at all a stretch to imagine that they have kids with the help of some rent-a-dad sperm donor.

Just because there is no objective easily observable evidence that you are gay doesn’t mean that I can’t discriminate against it. I know plenty of jews that could pass for non-Jews and it would still be illegal for me to discriminate against those Jews that are “openly Jewish”

Immutability and choice has nothing to do with it. I can convert from Buddhism to Scientology and there would be no obvious evidence of that change.

I for one am willing to take Randy’s word for it.

His schooling on EP law does provide more evidence for my belief that he’s actually a bright but maladjusted teen who’s picked up some tidbits from a tax-lawyer father over the dinner table, and is intent on trying to come off as one himself in hopes of getting recognition and support from some usernames on some message board. Who here really thinks that the silly shit he posts can be the product of an educated adult intellect?
