You read about it in this thread. Now, um, see the film and stuff. For free! The very first screening on film, not video! (Mmmm… film…) It’s still not 100% complete: it’s not color-corrected, so the coloring isn’t consistant. The sound is only about 95% finalized. Not all the effects are in. The credits aren’t in yet. But it’s pretty damned close to being a final product.
Oh, and John Digweed fans: be among the first to hear his new music, our soundtrack!
No passes or anything needed. Just show up and get in line. First come first seated, but I think it’s a decent sized-theater, so I don’t think that should be any problem.
Congrats, Anamorphic and good luck with the screening. A few questions:
[li]Given that the screening’s at an AMC, are you going to build the film up yourself? I know that’s not typical for sneak/preview/advance screenings, but I sure would advise it.[/li][li]Also, is this a screening w/comment cards or just to push some visibility and word-of-mouth? Have the press been invited?[/li][li]Are you still slated for a March opening? Do you have a distributor? Are you going the festival circuit?[/li]
Anyway, all the best for Thursday (being 400 miles away, I’m afraid I’ll have to pass)
Damn, Morphy… when I was working in Mountain View CA for an ISP, one of our customers came in so I could fix her computer up… she happened to mention she was a filmmaker from LA. She recognized your name and spoke highly of your work. Damned if I can remember her name though!
Aah well, there’s no real point here except to heap more praise on someone hella deserving. If I were there, I’d be there.
Thanks, everyone! Wish you all could be there… And glad you WILL be, Monster.
ArchiveGuy:
We are recruiting the screening ourselves. Nothing major; just handing out flyers in and around the mall that it’s playing at. No, there won’t be comment cards. The picture is locked; we’re out of money, so there won’t be any more changes, so comments, good or bad, won’t really do us any good at this point. This screening really isn’t about that, anyway. This is a screening for the producers and marketing people to see the final cut on film. And we want them to see it with a real audience. Yes, a secondary reason is to start buzz.
Yes, we are still planning on releasing it in March. No, the producers do not want to do the festival circuit. We don’t have a distibuter yet, but there is word that a couple of the biggies are very interested. Don’t wanna say more about that just yet; don’t want to jinx it.
And Cartooniverse: in hindsight, I wish we HAD hired you on steadicam. sigh.
Morphy, here’s what you can do for my Birthday. Since you plan to release it in March, you could make me really really really happy by having it open in theaters on March 13th!
WHY do you always do this when I’m NOT in LA?
Not that I haven’t seen it 4,000 times.
Five seconds at a time, over and over and over and over and over and over…
Good luck, babe. You know I wish you the best.
I am impressed. Very impressed. It’s a great movie, and honestly, I see that it could do very well. It’s in the same vein as Trainspotting and Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels–if you liked those movies, then you’d like this one. The soundtrack is fantastic, and I want a copy of it. The dialogue is smart and funny, and some of the characters are just classic–especially Jeffrey.
I’m still cracking up over Jeffery and his lucky silver dollar.
Yep, this movie does rock.
