LA Dopefest -- Saturday, 3/1/08, Hollywood Billiards

I haven’t been there yet, but it’s my understanding that it’s street parking only.

There’s a pay lot outside the place, but it looked a little on the small side.

Um… work kind of blew up last night and I’m going to have to go in today and I don’t know how long I’m going to have to stay. I don’t know that I’m going to make it tonight, I’m very sorry to say.

Please disregard. All is fine for the evening.

If anyone needs a ride from the OC area, I’ll be driving and will gladly pick you up.

I’ll be running a little late, hope to see you folks soon.

Brad, I sure hope you can make it!

Looks like I’ll be slightly late too. I decided to actually socialize with my family =^.^= But I’ll be there. Watch for the blue kitty hat.

Am running late but should be leaving soon (like after a shower since I just got back from running). Man, does this place vend comestibles? I’m famished.

It was wonderful hanging out with you guys yesterday. Always a pleasure to hang with Dopers, and I was very pleased to see some [del]fresh meat[/del] new faces. Brad, you were especially missed. I hope you make it to the next one.

And lest I forget, our pic!

ETA: thought the caption would show up, but it didn’t.

Top row, right to left: Paladud and Asimovian.
Bottom row, right to left: Xash, Silver Tyger Girl, The Highwayman, Queen Bruin

My pic turned out badly so you don’t get to see it. I really need to get a new camera, but I’m cheap. And I don’t want to do the research to figure out which one I want to buy.

It was great, but next time we’ve got to go someplace quieter.

I agree…but a good time nonetheless! It was great meeting the new folks (whom I hope to see much more of) as well as some of the regulars.

Queen Bruin, thanks for the picture!

See all of you next time at the bowling alley.

Sorry I couldn’t make it gang. Work absolutely killed me this weekend. I’m glad you all had a great time. How did the venue work out for you all? Parking? Neighborhood? Crowd? Food & beverages?

I sorely hope to make the next one…

Parking was fine – there was actually valet parking directly adjacent to the building. I don’t know if others parked on the streets or not.

Given the parking lot and enclosed building, I didn’t find the neighborhood to be a factor at all.

There were a lot of people there, but it didn’t feel crowded at all to me. There is seating all over the place, so even when we weren’t playing, we had places to sit and talk. It was definitely loud, though.

I had fish & chips and a Shirley Temple, both of which were just fine. I didn’t think to ask anyone else how their food and drink was.
