Hollywood is fine for me.
Good idea!
#1 priority gets 4 points, #2 gets 3 points, etc. I’ll do the calculations this evening, so keep voting.
Although I suppose I could make it a weighted point system… :smack:
#1 Hollywood
#2 West LA
#3 Long Beach (over Pasadena only for jazz-bar)
And I’m still a late arrival.
- Pasadena
- Hollywood
- LB
Pasadena, Long Beach, Hollywood.
It appears I might be able to make it after all.
W00T!
Sorry for the absence. Anyway, so far…
HOLLYWOOD
23 pts
PASADENA
18 pts
LONG BEACH
14 pts
Voting remains open, but I want to solidify plans by this weekend. Is everyone (except FlightlessBird, I understand) OK with 6pm for dinner? Or should we try for later?
My vote, in order of preference (and proximity to trains)
- Hollywood
- Pasadena
- Long Beach (not sure how close the Blue Line is)
6 p.m. sounds OK to me.
So here’s a question, since you’re mentioning trains - if I took the Amtrak up from San Diego, is there an easy way to get from whatever train station is closest to the Hollywood Roscoe’s?
YES!
At Union Station change to the Red Line Subway train. Take that to the Hollywood/Vine station then walk the 2 blocks or so east to Gower. Turn right (south towards Sunset) and you are at Roscoe’s. Easy as pie.
MMMmmm, pie.
Just to confirm what NAF1138 said, I have made that trip (the subway portion) several times to meet people at Roscoe’s before going to the movies down the street. The walk from the subway station will take you about 10 minutes. And since I’m at Union Station every day, I can even give you specific directions on how to get to the Red Line from within if you’re interested.
And if someone would please get Queen Bruin a bib for the pie drool…
Sweet Potatoe pie even. It’s the toe that gives it that something special.
I will probably be taking the red line in the other direction to Roscoe’s if we do the Hollywood location, since parking in that area is tricky.
That’s gonna be 4 times for us meeting up…might be a Doper record.
People are going to talk.
I mean, more than they already do.
I’m officially out… turns out that I am going to be on-call that week, which means I can’t stray far from work.
1)Hollywood
2)Pasadena
3) Could I bum a ride with anyone?
I hope you can make it. I’m buying you a drink.
I vote Hollywood, since it’s 10 minutes away and the last 'fest I attended was a hike.
Well, it’s all well and good that public transportation is convenient, but it would cost us nearly $90 to do that. I drive a frickin’ hybrid, so gas isn’t going to be remotely that expensive. Pleasant thought, though.
