Ladies, do you shave it? (TMI)

A friend of mine who sells adult DVDs says “Hairy is the new Shaved.” What he means by this is that videos with shaved women used to be sold as a particular fetish. Nowadays, just about all the porn starlets are shaved, and videos featuring hairy women are sold as a fetish item. Weird, eh?

Mrs. Seng keeps things neatly trimmed and shaves on occasion. It’s nice not to have to stop midstream to pull hairs off my uvula, and I there’s a particular tuft that, due to its location, goes right up my nose.

But now that I have a moustache, everything’s hairy anyway so it mostly doesn’t matter.

Clarification: waxed, racing stripe or no, counts as shaved. Shaving/waxing around the “lips” counts as shaved. Trimming and shaving the upper inner thigh or belly outside of the “triangle” counts as natural. Used to shave but no longer do it counts as natural (I’m counting what you do today.)

Tally so far:
Shaved - 2 (counting MrTuffPaws gal)
Natural - 7

In reality there are some that may fall in an in-between category - trimmed a little too much to call “natural” but it is hard to tell from the posts who fits that description.

In addition, I think body hair removal for women in general is overrated. Certainly there are some women with excessive body who need to do some, but most women could just let it go.

I lost my virginity at the age of 19 on the island of Aruba to a very sweet girl from Denmark. I remember she had unshaved legs adorned with these fine, tiny golden hairs. Very sexy and quite lovely. I don’t remember what was under her arms. How often do you see under someone’s arms? If no one shaved their armpits and we grew up with it, nobody would think twice about it.

Carry on.

I had a Playboy cross my path a few days ago and I was looking at the pictures to see what the women were looking like these days. I noticed that the women all had a shaved “strip” as opposed to a bush. I would think that would require an awful lot of maintenance.

I have shaved completly before but didn’t like the little red bumps and the couple day growth shadow.

Wax. Braxilian style. Yeah it hurts like hell but it leaves me as smoooooooooooooooooth as you can be.

Waxed & trimmed. I’m not brave enough for a Brazilian.

RRIIIPPP!!

P.S. I like having things tidy down there - it helps with running & swimming. Nothin’ like getting your short & curlies stuck in the elastic edge of your underwear or swimsuit!

Um, TMI alert…

I’ve found that an issue with shaving completely tends to be, ah, well, arousal. Like, all the time. CoughsoIhearcoughcough—It’s a great sensation, but, boy, is it distracting at work.

I don’t bother shaving because I’m not really that hairy and also I like to dye it or bleach it different colours every now and then.

Definitely trim and shave but have yet to try going bare. I think I would ideally like to get alase. To always have it neat but never worry about it again would be fabulous.

I used to. I don’t any more. The maintenence and itching and trimming and lotioning and more maintaining and stray hairs and …too much damned trouble for something that is actually SEEN by only me and Tark. And if anyone else happens to see it, well, they can deal or get lost.

(I do trim, but that’s for convenience…hygeine during one’s period is far easier when you’re soaping a hedge rather than a rainforest.)

Yes, I shave, and have for two years or so.

I usually shave it completely, and then just let it grow back. haha Then I get a “wild hair” once in a while, and shave it all again.

Currently I’m an natural, but after reading this I’m kind of in the mood for shaved again.

It is INCREDIBLY time consuming, though, to keep up the shaved look for very long, and I really find that no matter what method I use, a couple days after the shave I’m bumpy and slightly irritated down there.

Just my $0.02.

Well when I used to shave… I used Coochy Shaving Cream… It is great, it helped prevent bumps and everything… But when I got my first wax, WHOA NELLIE! It is so much better than shaving! It was like a religious experience.

OK I’ll bite…WTH is a Brazilian wax job?

X~Slayer,

The wax your ass too, literally.

When it’s completely shaved, it looks like you are 10 years old again, and you’re waiting for the first pubic hair to sprout. It’s almost “pedophiliac” in a way…

Keeping it trimmed is the best I can do, I’m pretty down to earth so I don’t get too crazy with designs and colors. In other words, trying to avoid it growing out of a nice, natural “V” shape

Trimmed. Not shaved. I’ve tried all the products and I still have horrid razor rash. Thankfully I am fairly hairless.

I find the regrowth looks icky too, I am a dark-haired woman and that means all my hair is dark

QUESTION: for those of you gals who wax it, how do you do it? Do you buy a home kit, and if so, what? How much does it hurt, and can you use it on the more sensitive underside/labia areas? I’m curious…

Instead of just getting the bikini area cleaned up, they take EVERYTHING off. So they wax all the stuff on the front, and, like MrTuffPaws said, all the stuff between your butt-cheeks and I think they also get all your labia. Yowza! tramp, I salute you! (And let me know if I’m being inaccurate here.)

I usually have someone else do my waxing for me, so I go to a local (thankfully reasonably priced) spa. I usually schedule a haircut & a wax back-to-back and go home walking funny.

Just kidding. I didn’t believe my sister when she said it didn’t hurt quite as much after the first few times, but she was right. It’s not so bad anymore.

I used to just clean up the bikini line, and do an occasional trim.

Then, when I was very pregnant, I had to go pee every 10 minutes, and I found myself with a “not so fresh” feeling a lot of days. I hadn’t done much maintenance in the pprevious few months, because it’s kind of hard to shave and trim when you can’t see over your belly. So, I decided to just shave it all. And I found that I much prefer it that way. I feel much cleaner. My husband doesn’t really seem to have a preference.

So, add one to your “shaved” tally.
