Ladies; Ever get a creepy PM from a fellow Doper?

I hadn’t gotten a creepy PM until I got suckered into a conversation with a Doper by PM. It was 9/11-related and the first few seemed sincere enough. They then diverted into deeply disturbing/ creepy/ clingy/ needy/ unstable and turned out to be bullshit.

Not creepy in the sexual sense but unnerved me quite a bit.

OTOH I’ve never thought twice about PM’ing a Doper if I thought it was a good idea. Some of the thread topics that elicited a PM were mighty delicate, but we’re adults and not 11 year-olds, and I figure we should be able to PM when it seems appropriate.

I once got a pm from a guy asking if I considered myself a member of the BDSM community, but it was the complete opposite of creepy. It was related to something I’d posted in a thread, he was very matter-of-fact and respectful about asking, and he damn near sprained something apologizing for potentially offending me when I said no.

Admit it, someone asking if you’re SDMB and BDSM gets points for wit.
