Ladies, I need advice...

Symptoms; tender swolen breasts, irratibaly, mood swings, tiredness, getting a little tummy.
My period isn’t due for a few days or so, but I’ve been getting that “period feeling” for two days and not even a dot of red in the undies.

In your opinion, should I hightail it off to the campus medical center for a pregnancy test?

Yes, it is quite possible, yet I can pass off all but one of the symptoms as something else. Ex: irratability- loaded down with work. Mood swings- an old friend recently has started to ignore me. Tiredness- Too much work, too litte relaxation. Tummy- freshman 15.

Another thing. Most of you will pass this off as bullshit, but to me, it was the last straw. See, me and my fiance are very empathic. As in, in DC he thought of a song, and I, here in Urbana, without talking to him got the same song stuck in my head. Well, I got a letter from him today. In the letter, he mentioned a dream he had where I was pregnant.

If I am pregnant, it’s not really to bad a thing. We’ll just get married sooner, I’ll move to DC, and the worst thing is I’ll have to put college on hold. It’s not like I’ll be a teenage un-wed mother.

Oh, and I know Sailorboy will be reading this as soon as he gets his ‘puter, so, um, Hi Sweetie! Just gettin’ advice…

So… what do you think? Sorry I kinda went on and on. I needed to talk, er, type.

Well, getting the test done certainly can’t hurt.

yep, quick!!!
(especially the tender boobs)

Let me also add that if you have been getting dizzy spells, get that test done immediately, if not sooner.

Well, it’s not my boobs, just my nipples. Does that still count? Or am I just trying… never mind.

Not really dizzy spells, weakness? Oy. Oy Oy OY!

Classic PMS symptoms if you ask me. You can do the pregnancy test but many women experience this before their period.

Me, they come and go – the above symptoms. Cut back on fatty dairy products, caffiene, salt, eat more protein and less carbs…yep, it works. In fact since I cut back on carbs and starches my last period I had virtually no cramps and the water retention much less.

But I’ve never had PMS before! Would it just pop up?

It can relic.

I very rarely have painful cramps during my period but if my hormones are out of wack every 3-4 years I can get them so painful I am bed-bound with dry heaves from the pain. We are not talking run of the mill cramps these are debilitating, please shoot me now, cramps.

Also, I don’t have classic PMS symptoms every month. It really is your hormones that determine this.

Like I said, cut back on carbs and add more protein, get rid of caffiene…but certainly if you and your fiance have had unprotected sex or you forgot your pill one or more days then a pregnancy test is in order.

Usually it’s best not to panic until you are sure you have missed your period. I have panicked before, taken the test, came up negative, only to find out I didn’t wait long enough.

Probably too soon to have symptoms. Wait. If period is late then do a pregnancy test. It could be a false alarm. But then again…

Dammit, dammit, dammit! this is all so stressful!

Just take an over-the-counter test. Theyare very accurate, and it’ll ease your mind.

Get one now and take the test tomorrow. It says to use the urine in the morning…

I really think that there are tests which will detect it even before your period is due. I think I saw a commercial about one…

Yer pal,

Yeah, Satan, but those cost money, right? I have no job. My $$$ comes from my dad.
“Hey dad, can I have some money? Oh, just a pregnancy test… Hello? Hello?.. Dad? You okay?.. Hello?”

If you can afford the over-the-counter tests, that is the way to go, like Satan says. That way you won’t have to wait as long, and your feeling of stress will hopefully be reduced.

Good luck to you, ////relic_11\\

Relic, OTC pregnancy tests tend to run $10-20. If you can’t afford that, hie yourself to the local Planned Pregnancy, explain your situation. They bill on a sliding scale, and I’m sure a broke college student can get a free test.

That being said, stress and wonky hormones is more than enough to cause your symptoms. Get the test, and put your mind at ease.

I didn’t see your post before I finished mine. Is there someone from whom you can borrow money for a test? Or maybe take something to a pawn shop? (My ex-husband used to take my kids CDs to pawn shops, until I found out about it.)

Can’t pawn anything. Evetything I have here My dad would notice, or is needed, or has sentimental value. Could borrow money, though. But I think I’ll wait a while. I think A week will make a big diffrence, non? Besides, I want to digest this.

As I moved from my teens into my twenties, I started to get “pre-period syptoms” earlier and earlier. Now I feel the first twinges a week before the big event. Sometimes I feel them for weeks. The symptoms aren’t bad at all, but I definitely notice when my monthlies are on the way.

Relic, maybe your body is just shifting from “adolescent” mode into “adult” mode, and this is just part of the change.

My advice: Go to the campus medical center, do the test, and get a pelvic exam to make sure nothing else is going on.

Good luck.

Good idea green Bean I think I will. As soon as I can. Saturday. First free time. Damn I wish I had more friends here. sigh

Well, you’ve got friends here.
