what kinds of physical traits would really turn you off. not permanently, but would cause you to say “Hey now! nevermind!” when scouting a guy?
Man boobs?
Excessive hairyness?
Too prominet of a jaw?
What, if anything?

Hmmm. Interesting query, jb. Nice to meet you, btw.
For me, there isn’t really that much that would turn me off of someone, physically at any rate. I guess ‘man boobs’ if they’re really large would make me kinda wonder. ‘Excessive hairiness’: that depends on what you mean by excessive, I guess. I am definitely turned off by a lot of hair on a guy’s back, neck, tush, upper arms; even his chest if it looks more like a rug or something. Long or short hair on his head if it isn’t clean and combed <unless he’s just been fixing my van, or swimming or something like that, of course>. Personal hygiene is important, always. Dirty, unkempt nails and hands would be a turn off, again with the same exceptions.
Far more important to me, however, are character and personality traits. I am much more likely to be turned off by those traits I don’t like than anything else. See the other thread, by astrangefish, about what I like in a man.
And, for the record, I am married, to Mr Bear, not as has been rumored much of late, to pipefitter or VestalBlue, or anyone else for that matter.
Let’s see…

nice answer, purplebear. i think you covered all the bases quite nicely. but c’mon, ladies. there must be some of you who are not quite so sensitive, and who are focused on worldiness. I know that my opinion on possible sweethearts has a lot to do with blatant first-time physical cues.
how hairy is too hairy? how mammarious is too much man boob? y’know, it’s a common condition for those who are out of shape.
and speaking of shape, what about the shape of a man’s face? has a profile turned you off, even after you’ve dug a full-on?
honesty, people (actually, not just ladies. gay or bi too). I’m looking for honesty, not nobility.
Thank you, jb. You really do want specifics, don’t you? Ok, ok. I’ll try again, though I’m a bit loathe to. I really don’t want to antagonize anyone on here. Well, here goes.
Too much hair: anything other than fine peach fuzz on tush, back, and upper arms is too much, IMO. Neck, well… it depends; do they shave their face and forget their neck? Yech! That kind of thing is a turnoff. Hair on chest: well, I can be attracted to anything from none at all to a fair amount, again, as long as it doesn’t look like it belongs on an animal of some kind, or a rug.
As to how big is too big on ‘man boobs’: well, if they’re as big as mine, that’s way too big! And, no, I’m not going to tell you how big I am. See my pic on the people pages,if you must have some idea.
And, I forgot to mention, smoking is definitely OUT!! I don’t even want to talk to a man with a cigarette/cigar in his mouth or his hand. MAJOR YUUUCCK!!!
As to profile: not really. I find all people fascinating, to watch, to get to know. Everyone has their own unique features, and right now I can’t think of one that would turn me off. Well, I do kinda wonder sometimes about David Robinson’s lips. I mean, geeeeez, I can’t imagine kissing those huge things! Sorry, David, love your playing <basketball star in San Antonio>, but too much on the lips.
I’m pretty open on most male attributes, because a bad personality will turn me off the most handsome of men.
But, with that said, I believe poor hygiene is the worst. Especially dirty hands. ::: shivers :::
Is there no woman out there that will appreciate my hairy bear chest?
Where’s Michi, she likes animals right?
They have to smell good.
(I, for one happen to like hairy guys…at least at the present time) ;^)
i have to agree with the ladies that do not like excessive hair, its not a big thing, i just find it rather yucky
Bear_Nenno, I like your hairy chest.
Crash - you have to define excessive. For me, it doesn’t even begin to get excessive until you can’t see skin.
I also don’t like dirty hands. On the whole, I don’t think my dislikes are excessive- as long as you comb your hair, shower daily, and trim anything too long once in a while, you’re game.
I was just about to give up all hope!! I just read another thread where Michi says she doesn’t like hairy guys! Can you believe that junk?? How can the animal lover not like hairy guys? Well if she knew what an animal in bed I w… errr I mean… ummm… she is intitled to her opinion!!!
Thanks for the encouragement zyada!!!
Must be clean, honest, happy, caring and giving. Physically I don’t think is important other than how they dress. No cheap shoes. That’s the first thing I look at. Fashionable dress…anything from jeans and boots to a tux is ok but it has to be up to date. Doesn’t have to be expensive just trend and age appropriate. Nice teeth with fresh breath and who loves to shower and smell good is always a plus. I don’t necessarily like smooth manicured hands. I think any man who fits the above cleanliness and dress criteria would have nice regular guy hands.
Whoa, this is incredible. I just described my husband and didn’t realize it until I re-read this post. Good for me.
Things that will nix (would have, actually) most guys:
Bad breath/BO etc
Very short (say under 5’4"-I’m 5’7")
Lack of intelligence & sense of humor
White sneakers
Excessive creepiness
I might be able to get over the short thing but he’d have to be pretty darn special, I’ll stick by all the others.
And it’s one…

Three strikes, you’re out, at the old ball game!
Good Invisible Pink Unicorn, DRY!! Should I ever get myself out to LA, I’ll have no trouble picking YOU out of the crowd, will I?!
I started to answer the OP for this thread and then thought: Why?
Why state something that is sure to hurt another poster, and lower their self-esteem? Why be negative? Why increase the pain in this world - there’s too much already. I’d rather be making people happier, thankyouverymuch.
And the posts that have been added to this thread have proven me right.
It’s like our recent troll attack. I’d mention his name, but it would only give him a hard-on. Negativity begat anger and hurt, when the troll could have stated his preferences in positive terms and made people feel better instead. But that’s the way trolls are, isn’t it?
Why should we dwell on what we don’t like? One thing I have learned in my life is that no matter what you look like, what your body type is, there is someone out there who likes exactly that, and someone else who doesn’t like that. If they don’t like the way you look (or the way I look) fuck’em. Having been in a relationship where the other person didn’t like my figure, believe me, you’re better off without them.
I have a fortune cookie fortune at my desk that states “Mutual attraction comes with a meeting of the minds” It’s there to remind me that if they like who I am, they will like the way I look. Anything else is immature.
Jb, I have to wonder what you want from this thread - I can only guess 4 things:
[ol]
[li]you’re a female and want an excuse to be insulting. Haven’t seen it yet, though.[/li][li]you’re a male who has these attributes and you are subconsciously trying to reinforce your negative self-esteem.[/li][li]you’re a male without these traits, and you need to support your own ego by tearing others down. or[/li][li]you’re a mixer - trying to start arguments between the other regs.[/li][/ol]
This thread is for me? No, thank you.
Now I feel like crap.
