Ladies, what kind of build do you like in a man?

Hmmmmmmmmm…

Between 6 ft. and 6’2", broad shoulders ( I go nuts for shoulders ), somewhat overweight…no man boobs or anything, but maybe some belly. Strong. Redheaded. The strongest physical attractions I’ve ever had have been to redheads.

I am not a little girl, and I really hate being physically larger than my boys. My current boy is 3 inches shorter than I am and about 50 pounds lighter. I wanna be able to steal their sweatshirts. Seems that’s been the trend for me lately, though, compact boys. Oy.

Body builders gross me out, and I have this feeling about extremely thin guys that I might hurt them if friskiness ensued. Plus there’s the problem of bony projections hitting tender flesh… I have been attracted to and dated all types, but my preference is still the slightly beefy semi-tall ones.

I agree with most of the posters here. Disregarding personality, intelligence and other character traits, I’d like:

Chubby guys
Slightly, slightly muscular guys
Tall, lanky sort of nerdy guys

Guys who are either too skinny or too muscular not only don’t turn my head, but they (especially the overly-muscular guys) can make me feel a bit sick.

I find it’s best to picture a guy wearing a suit. If my image of them makes the suit look ridiculous, then he’s probably not one of my preferred body types.

Guys who are too skinny get out of ropes faster

Oh, and I forgot. I like semi-large noses. I’ve heard it described as having “a Roman nose”. Yeah. That is very hot to me.

Guys that have a slightly receding hairline are sexy. Sexier is shoulder length hair. Sexiest is short spiked-in-the-front hair.

And eyebrow piercings… growl

If he can play an instrument, it’s a plus. A big, fat plus. Even better if it’s an electric bass.

I love white and Asian guys. A tall Asian guy with glasses wearing a suit turns my head faster than the girl from The Exorcist. Although, if I really like somebody, it won’t matter what they are.

And neckties are important to me. No ugly patterns, or tacky neckties with naked ladies on them. Nothing is hotter than seeing a guy take off his necktie at the end of the day and unbuttoning his shirt. Nothing. Except maybe wearing pants and ironing his dress shirt.

Being taller than me is a must. I’m 5’8". I would like to feel protected, as one poster said before.
Ok, I’ve gone on long enough. I’m going to go take a cold bath now…

Can’t speak for anyone else, but I am 5’ 7", so that is why tall matters. Something about having to look a little bit up at my man works for me.

I’m 5’1" - it’s pretty rare for a guy NOT to be taller than I am, but I’ve dated one or two who were shorter with no appreciable problems, except for other people commenting on Hobbit breeding. I’ve also dated abnormally tall guys - one was 6’7", one was 6’9", and I endured my fair share of Mutt & Jeff comments.

I can’t stand the musclebound beach boy look. I prefer lean, even skinny, but with a little bit of muscle. Height’s not an issue for me. Kind eyes/kind smile are a definite plus. I like dark hair but don’t only go for that. Length doesn’t matter much either, as long as the cut flatters the person.

Examples: I think Adrien Brody is hot, and also this guy (I can’t remember his name) from a Gaiam produced Yoga video I have. He’s Asian, has long hair, and I think he’s super sexy.

Oh, I also don’t mind the stocky/pudgy-but-cute look. I think Will Sasso from Mad TV is totally hot.

I was halfway kidding. But it’s generally considered to be in poor taste for men to sit around talking about women’s bodies in mixed company. Of course if a woman asked it would be okay, but you know a few people would ride into the thread on their high horses just to scold everyone for being shallow and contributing to women’s negative body image issues.

So anyway, not that anyone asked, but I like soft, curvy female bodies with full breasts. I also like tall, strong, athletic female bodies. Height is always nice, but not a requirement. I could go on, but I’ll save it in the event somebody actually starts that thread.

The implied bigotry against fearsome, hairy man-boobs in this thread is depressing.

No, I don’t have them. I just like using that phrase.

Professional volleyball player.

Okay, I’m an idiot. Stranger on a Train did start the thread over twelve hours ago. Please excuse my moronicity.

Sigh. That is often true, I hate to admit. This topic came up in conversation recently. Sigh.

Well, I like tall guys, but I like short guys too, for slightly different reasons.

Of course, being 6’2", I pretty much have to like shorter guys if I’m going to get anywhere. None of my boyfriends have been my height.

Since the conversation has turned a little bit to the accoutrements rather than the build, I have a thing for guys with the trappings of something edgy but who are non-threatening. (Probably says a lot about me). As an example, the sort of punk boy who looks like he goes to protests and is wild in bed – not so much the sort who looks like he’ll break your face for E money.

I like piercings and unnatural hair colours, Cupid’s-bow lips, unusual fashions, glasses, short hair. No machismo, please; butchness is delicious, but not when it’s something he has to prove. Besides which, I’m a BIG fan of ‘femme in the streets, butch in the sheets,’ and I think I do it pretty well myself.

I like chubby guys, not too tall, muscular with a layer of fat. However, I also find Adrien Brody very sexy.

Much like the picture Lord Ashtar posted in the long hair on men thread.

Hmmmm.

I like the professor type. Tall, lean, muscle definition, but not ripped or built (ugh)–even lanky is nice. I would like him to be a bit taller than me, (5’7"), but not excessively so. I am big on hands–long, lean fingers, with squared off fingertips and clean, trim nails…ahem.

Even more than that, I want a guy who I can talk to. Who wants to discuss the events of the day, but also ideas and preposterous notions etc. Conversation–not mutual monologues. He can bumble a bit, but too much eccentricity is a turn off. This guy needs to have made peace with his hair or lack of it.

If we can throw in a love of good literature, a Python sense of humor and some sensivitiy–you will need a restraining order!

My eyes like triangular chests and the kind of definition you can use to study anatomics.

My nose likes 'em big, couldn’t care less about muscle definition, but please low-fat (scottish and basque men, for example, tend to be big-and-strong-but-not-defined).

And when it comes to going to bed, it’s my nose that gives the orders… sort of like the difference between a poster of a cake and the actual cake

Oh, and my favorite hairstyle is that grown out bowl cut grungy 'do…think Empire Records. Otherwise, if it’s long, it needs to be healthy, and if it’s short, it needs to stay trimmed. I like spikes. I love sideburns, no muttonchops, but straight, trimmed, and earlobe length. Maybe a goatee, trimmed. My boy had a long goatee when we got together, and I sort of thought it was oogy.

I think I like my boys to be physically larger than me because it helps me feel protected. I also hate feeling like an ogre next to them. I deal with itnow, but if I had my druthers, ya know.

begins notifying the authorities in his area

 Hey now!

So how YOU doin’?
