Lady Dopers: How often do you wear perfume?

I only wear perfume if I am dressed up for going out. For reference I wore perfume last week for the first time in months.

The scent that I have, Gucci Rush, I love. It just seems a little to sexy/sensual to wear with jeans and a Tshirt. I mentioned this to the Ex who gave it to me and his response was that perfume is meant to be worn and that it doesn’t matter what is clothing I am wearing, if I like it, I should use it. And I think there is some merit to this idea.

So I put forth to the teeming millions, do you dose yourself with scents (of the postive kind) daily or do you save it for special occasions?

Exuse the grammar error. Please dispose of the extra verb as you see fit
:smack:

Next to never. I wear lotion from bath & body works that’s scented, and it’s a lot more subtle than a lot of perfumes, which most women seem to want to bathe in.

If your bf likes the Gucci stuff on you, isn’t wearing it for him special?

Every day … even if I’m just slobbing round the house. It makes me feel fully dressed and ready for the world. I love it.

I’m not gonna say what I wear cos I’m told its an old ladies perfume and I’m on the lookout for a new one… something green and citrusy… any suggestions???

I never wear perfume, as my nose is very sensitive to scents, and I can’t stand smelling something constantly. I do on occasion use scented lotion or body spray, which is a much softer scent and doesn’t hang around for a long time.

Maybe Acqua de Gio? I used to wear it until it got lost while traveling. Now I’m not sure if I like it, but I think it fits that description. I’m also looking for suggestions for something fruity - I don’t like floral scents. To answer the OP, I hardly ever wear perfume. I can’t get myself in the habit. I used to when I lived in Europe, because it seemed like everyone did (to make up for not showering and using deordorant, of course :)).

Never, it makes me sneeze and I don’t like the way most perfumes smell anyway.

I have a very light vanilla scented spray that I’ll use when I want cheering up. It’s a calming scent for me. And it fades really quickly, so I know I won’t knock anyone down with a strong perfume.

I wear real, expensive perfume-perfume maybe once a month, and like the OP, only on special occasions. But I wear Victoria’s Secret’s vanilla or amber romance flavored eau de toilette almost everyday. I don’t consider that “real” perfume though, I just like to smell sweet. “Real” perfume I think is a complex scent and not the kind I could smell all the time.

Every day - I have at least 40 good scents. They almost need their own closet!

I can’t remember the last time I wore perfume or cologne. I don’t like using scented personal products - not my shampoo or body wash or deodorant. OK, one exception - I like the cherry-almond scented hand lotion, but that scent fades pretty fast.

I don’t like scented cleaning products either. Or room fresheners. Or scented toilet tissue. Perfuming is overrated, AFAIC.

Only on special occasions. The worry thing is, on quite a few occasions when I haven’t been wearing any, people have said how nice I smelled! (No it couldn’t have always been a line - one was male and gay, one was a relative, another had a girlfriend…)

About daily. I use light scents and only do one small spritz. Latest favorites are Rampage and Glow (yes, the JLo stuff but it smells very subtle, floral, and even refined).

Every day, even when I’m out doing field work. Right now I’m wearing Shalimar (yeah, it’s one of those old lady scents, but I’m an old lady, so there).

Funny thing is that I’m very particular about my soap and shampoo scents. There are too many odors I can’t tolerate, so I spend a lot of time in the supermarket aisles, removing caps and sniffing - Ewww! Ewww! Ewww! That’s not so bad… I seem to have developed this idiosyncrasy in the last 5 years.

Once in a blue moon, although I go through phases when I wear it more often. I like ones that don’t smell very perfumey. And when it comes to other scented things, I like ones that smell natural. I tend to like fruity smells - my favorite bubble bath is honey mango. Same for other toiletry products that are scented, like shampoo or conditioner.

Hardly ever wear perfume, special occasions for me too. My mother is allergic to almost everything, growing up in a scent-free home made me extra sensitive. I rather enjoy the combination scent of whichever shampoo, hair product and fabric softener I’m using on any given day, that’s enough for me.

I love perfume. My faves are Carolina Herrera and a couple of Avon scents, Mandarin (smoky, orangey w/jasmine) and Pur Blanca, which is crisp and clean and lemony. But I reserve those kinds of fragrances for special occasions like parties, date nights with the mister, weddings, something for which I’m getting dressed up in something special.

But I wear a “body spray” every day. I’m very partial to Avon’s “Naturals” line which is made up of fruit, herbal and floral fragrances like Peach, Lily, Vanilla and my favorites, Cucumber-Melon and Green Tea. I also use shower gels and lotions from this line to tie things together. The scents aren’t overpowering, but they do lend a “hint” of themselves throughout the day in a good way.

Smelling pretty makes me feel happy.

I was brought up by an Avon lady, can you tell?

Well when he was my boyfriend, I wore it more often. However a year after he left for the other coast, I still love the smell but never wear it.

Part of the problem is that the scent immediately sends my hormones into overdrive. Which was fine when I was gettin’ some, but now it is just masochism. However having contemplated this for several days now, I think I will start wearing it a little more often. I might not be able to stand ‘smelling’ every day since I normally use unscented everything and can’t stand the smell of most scented lotions etc…

So Dopermen, what is your opinion on women that wear perfume?

Never.

I am violently allergic to perfumes. Management at one of my jobs had to tell one woman to stop wearing her perfume( to be fair she was using WAY to much of it) because it was making me sick.

I have to be very careful with scented anything, soaps, lotions and deodrant.

Never. Since it’s not visible, if I don’t stink, I don’t worry about how I smell. Maybe if there were smell rays, I would think of it more.
