My favorite on other people is some scent one of my ex’s wore. I keep meaning to ask him what it is, but I always forget. And I’m not sure if its his cologne or if its a combination of pot smoke and the incense he always had burning.
I wear * L’Heure Bleu* by Guerlain. It’s a very old perfume and has been around for a hundred years or so. It means “the blue hour” – and refers to that time at the end of the day just after the sun has set but before complete darkness.
When my first husband and I divorced and he remarried, he gave his wife a bottle of this perfume!
For casual wear in the summer I use Blue Grass. I think it’s by Elizabeth Arden. It is the freshest, cleanest fragrance.
I hope all of you store your fragrances in dark places!
One is Kouros, by YSL, mentioned by Zenster. A girl I had a brief fling with wore it and even now the scent still makes me weak at the knees.
I also really like CK One (I wear it when I’m feeling happy and upbeat), CK Be (I wear it when I’m trying to pick up) and Tommygirl (I wear it when I’m feeling happy-go-lucky).
Mmmmmmmmmmm.

After years and years of looking and buying and trying perfumes ( and always coming out smelling like rubbing alcohol) I finally found a nice, soft fragrance that does not overwhelm nor make me smell like a hospital ward.
My primary fragrance is ‘Amarige’ by Givenchy; second favorite is Tuscany by Estee Lauder (I believe), and third would be Caroline Farrera. I’m sure I just butchered the name.
For me my two favorites are “Antonia’s Flowers” (from a floral shop in the Hamptons, NY) - and “Origins Ginger Essence”. Yum!
For men my all time favorite is “Cacherel for Men”. The first love of my life was a Swede. He wore this all the time. If I do encounter it now (very rare that I do), I feel an odd mixture of intense desire and extreme heartache. It’s really wild. Darn that olfactory memory bank!
It brings me feelings of inexpressible longing, memories of a glorious summer day with a long-haired hippy girl in a flowing dress, out in a balmy sweet pasture.
Which really sucks, because I never had such a girl and don’t know why I remember it whenever I smell patchouli…
My old standard is Poison by Dior, but I have a weakness for Black Pearls by Elizabeth Taylor. I try to collect all of her scents, but they’re usually too feminine and soft for my personal use. Pearls has a heavier, muskier scent to it that makes me a bit fluttery in the tummy.
I like L’eau par Kenzo (a very fresh, clean scent), Feu d’Issey Light (warm, some floral with a hint of spice), and Chanel’s Chance (floral/fruity). Chance is the only Chanel offering I’ve seen that smells good on me. Embarrassingly, I also like Jennifer Lopez’s “signature” scent, Glow. It’s surprisingly subtle, a mild and pleasant floral that doesn’t seem too “young”. I bought a bottle and tore the tacky little rhinestone “JLo” pendant off. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments while wearing it.
