I wear Paco Rabanne (after shave, not eau de toilette). It’s very light and clean smelling, and my wife says it mixes with my scent well. I always get compliments on it.
Escape by Calvin Klein and L’eau de Issey by Issey Miyake
I too, will wear men’s fragrance at times. My partner loves Sung by Alfred Sung (men’s)- the women’s version is horrible.
Otherwise, I like Sunflower or Eternity.
I wear Mania by Armani.
It’s very yummy and spicy. I use a lot of cocoa butter moisturiser, and the two scents seem to mix very well on me.
Failing that, my backup is Le Feu D’Issey Light. NOT the normal one. It’s nice and fresh, and it comes in a rubber ball, so it’s handy to travel with.
I’ve just bought Cuiron by Helmut Lang for irishfella. It’s incredibly sexy.
I wear The Dreamer by Versace… I love the smell… I walk around smelling myself all day… and I get a few “hey whats that cologne?” comments… I hope it is in a good way…
I also wear Emporio by Armani to mix things up…
For women… I love Happy…
I have no idea who makes it… but every time my SO wears it… I want to jump on her…
I wear April Fields…used to wear Vanilla Fields.
My fiance wears Avatar.
My ex-husband wore Polo forever…now whenever I smell that, I feel a rush of fear run over me. It turns my stomach.
I’m currently stuck in two fragrances: Chanel No. 5 (hubby bought me the perfume for Christmas. I had only done the cologne before that) and Red Door by Elizabeth Arden. People always compliment me on the Red Door.
I like a pure lavendar or jasmine scent, but they are so hard to find, and the ones I do find vanish instantly after you spray them on. So I’ve been using an old favorite,“Le Dix,” by Balanciaga. Light, powdery, not too sweet or heavy.
My mother only uses"Joy," has been wearing it for 50 years or more.
Well, I have:
~Annick Goutal - Flovaril
~Bulgari - Blu
~Elizabeth Arden - Red Door
~Cabotine de Gres
~Clarins Eau Dynamissante
~Victoria Secret - Sensual Sunset
But I am sick of them all. Lately I prefer scented moisturizers and use:
~Origins - A Perfect World (with White Tea)
~o-live a little by bibo (smells delish!)
~And after a bath and it’s time for beddy-bye, I slather on Bath & Body Works Blue Lavender Palmarosa ~ it’s aromatherapeutic.
The cologne I liked best on me was Giorgio Red. Unfortunately, the only compliments I ever got while wearing it were from other guys, and I never met a woman who liked it on me. I finally discovered Obsession which, while I’m rather indifferent to its scent, apparently makes me smell REALLY GOOD to women.
As for perfume, the number one scent I absolutely go ape over is, unfortunately, no longer made: Liz Claiborne (original). I was recently in NYC and found some old bottles for sale down in Chinatown, so I bought enough to last my wife for awhile. Damn, but that stuff really makes me horny. I really have no idea why they stopped making it.
Regards,
Barry
I wear Nicole Miller, and the SO loves it.
She wears Red, and I love it.
Its a veritable love fest.
Opium is my signature scent, too, jinwicked! I’ve never met anyone else that wears it. I’ve been wearing it for about 20 years now.
I also adore First (by Van Cleef and Arpels), but can never find it in stores. It is simply the most wonderful cologne ever, so of course that means it either is no longer made…or no longer sold in my state.
Another two favorites are Safari and Lauren (by Ralph Lauren) but I haven’t bought any in a long time. My birthday is coming up so maybe I ought to start doing a little hinting!
My primary one is “Egoiste platinum” by Chanel
My secondary one is “Herrera” by Caroline Herrera…
One of the most god-awful colognes ever produced:
Joop for men…blech!!!
I’ve been wearing Ysatis by Givenchy for years.
On a guy, it’s Romance by Ralph Lauren - yummy.
If I wear perfume at all, I wear Beautiful. I think it’s by Estee Lauder. It’s my “special occassion” scent. I used to wear Happy by Clinique, but it’s more of an everyday fragrance and I only wear perfume on special occassions. This is because I always slather my body in lotion after a shower (reading over that, that sounds dirty…ahem) and I’m not crazy about mixing contrasting scents. My latest and current favorite is the new Jasmine Vanilla from Bath & Body works - both the lotion and the body spray.
The bf wears Nautica, and I think it’s my favorite guy scent, because it smells clean. I don’t like musky scents on guys; it makes me feel as though they should be wearing a suit and smoking a pipe.
They do make Opium for Men, which while it isn’t exactly identical, is pretty similar.
Sylkyn:
So you’ve been wearing it since I was three. Not trying to make you feel old, but most of the few other ladies I’ve known that wore it were much older than me (probably because it’s been around such a long time compared to many of the perfumes on sale right now.)
brachyrhynchos - thank god I don’t work with you… I’d never get anything done.
Chanel #5… mmmmmm!
I wear Ysatis all the time, made by Givenchy. If I’m up for a change I wear Chanel #5 or Oscar.
My hubby wears Drakkar (which happens to be my favorite), Enternity for Men and occasionally Polo - mmmmmm yummy!
Hear, hear. Please. Hear, hear, hear, hear, hear.
Not to rain on the parade, but you shouldn’t be smellable at all at a distance greater than, say, cubicle width. Ideally, I think you should only be smellable when you’re close enough to touch someone, but I’m sure this is a minority view. However, If I can walk through the main lobby and be able to tell if you’re at work yet, because you passed through some minutes or hours before me, you’re definitely wearing too much.
Please remember too, others can smell you better than you can smell yourself. Your nose gets used to your scent and doesn’t realize how overwhelming it is.
Please also remember many people become physically ill when they smell these fragrances.
Please wear less. Much less.
I’m not sure, do I have strong feelings about this?
masonite: Yes, I agree, but not everyone wears loads of perfume. Those that compliment me of the scent are the ones who are greeting me, therefore the ones that are close enough to smell it. No one else mentions the scent, and I do try to wear little of it so as to not cause allergy to others around me.
