What's your favorite cologne/perfume?

Oh, I forgot to comment about what perfumes I perfer on my wife. Oddly enough, while I don’t like feminine, delicate scents for myself, I love them on her. merge, I’m another big fan of Happy by Clinique on my SO.

I really love Old Spice on a guy, but don’t have a favorite scent for myself. I seem to get lots of perfume/colognes as gifts (maybe they’re all trying to tell me something?). While what I have is ok, I still don’t have a clear favorite, and I’m too cheap to go out and try anything new until I use up what I have.

I exclusively use Paul Sebastian because I keep hearing from the women about how good I smell. Having a humorous side 90% of the time, after a women makes that comment, I usually tell them that I just farted. The look on their face is just PRECIOUS! I never do tell them what I wear. To me and my wife, PS smells even better after a little bit of sweating, and my wife always tries to get me to do some yardwork.

I wear Polo Sport or whatever my roommate has foolishly left out in the bathroom. My favorite for girls is whatever it is my gf wears.( I know, I’m terrible for not knowing what it is but we haven’t been together long and haven’t hit any gift-giving holidays yet)

Wow! All the Dopers are so incredibly sophisticated!! I definitely don’t belong in this group, but wanted to add my humble favorite to the list, in hopes that any other cheapskate/stuck-in-adolescence like me out there, might have some company. So, without further ado… I offer what I’ve been wearing since I was at least 13 or 14.

::::drum roll::::

Love’s Baby Soft.

And I will always adore it, it smells so sweet and light. Plus, I can get it for under $10 at any local Wal*Mart (obviously, a huge factor for someone broke and stuck in BFE). Besides, it’ll still be my choice when I’m a little old lady popping wheelies in the nursing home. Gotta have some fun and consistency.

The only aftershave I have been using for ages, and my absolute favorite is “Eau Sauvage” from Dior.

My favorite scent for a woman is Opium. So, any chance of jinwicked and Sylkyn visiting the Netherlands, just so I can smell them?

I like ‘inis’ I think its an irish perfume, and ‘Summer’ by JPG.
I like ‘live jazz’ for men but have yet to meet one that wears it.

 You don’t have to apologize for me being old, jinwicked! That’s my own fault! And you certainly didn’t make me feel old, either. I can feel old all by myself!

Mycroft, I’d love to have the honor of your nose upon my neck, but alas, the Netherlands are just a tad too far from me. Besides, let the young 'un have that pleasure!

And if anybody knows where I can buy some First, please let me know. I really love that scent, and it’s been elusive here for about five years.

Most perfume smells like rubbing alchohol to me, or chemical-y.

So I use a dab of rose oil. Smells gorgeous, and I’ve gotten tons of compliments. And it lasts all day, which is pretty cool.

I wear two different perfume depending on the season and get complimented on both:

Fall/Winter: Samsara by Guerlain

Spring/Summer: Manifesto by Isabella Rosselini

I always wanted to go to Europe…

I’m with Eve. I used to wear jasmine oil in high school. Now I wear The Healing Garden Laverdertherapy body spray, available at your local drugstores. I like the scent because it’s not too sweet or girly, just sort of soft and fresh at the same time. Without being too fruity or green (ugh). It does wear off over the course of the day, but that’s okay. Since it’s such a light scent, I doubt anyone can smell it on me except those who are very, very close. And that’s the way I like it.

As far as scents on men, I’m fairly indescriminate. I like most colognes, even the generic “fresh” and “light musk” scents in deoderants and drugstore aftershave.

I love that too Shirley. It’s either Summer Hill or Paris by YSL for me.

sigh… that’s the sexiest most suductive perfume in the world…it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. It truly is like a sweet narcotic. And it’s the only perfume I buy Mrs eNiGma  . She likes Poison too but she doesn’t wear it too often.

…mmmmmm…ooooopiummmmmm

Source for First and other perfumes.

Hmm, I only wear a few:

The top of my list is ** Joop **

I wear ** Curve ** and **Jovan Ginseng NRG **

Now here is the thing. I don’t get many comments off my cologne, I suppose I don’t put enough of it, and I still can’t find any websites on how to properly “spray” cologne. So far, I do two spritz on my chest. How do the other guys here spray their cologne?

Blossom Brian

Oh perfumes. Sigh. Almost my favourite thing in the world. I have lots and wear them according to mood. Hard to pick a favourite, but “Bellodgia” by Caron, and Robert Piguet’s “Fracas” would be up there. I wear “Samsara” in the winter, along with “L’Heure Bleu” and Madame Gres’ “Cabochard”. I love Dior’s “Diorella” just about anytime, it’s a wonderful perfume, and “Eau Sauvage” is the only men’s colonge I really like (on me or men :-).

I used to wear “Chanel No 5” a lot, but either my skin has changed or the perfume has, and it doesn’t smell the same anymore.

I love Caron’s “Narcisse Noir” and as soon as I have some spare cash I’m going to buy Annick Goutal’s “Gardenia” and Caron’s “Nuit de Noel”.

“Ma Griffe” is about the perfect summer perfume, alone with Guerlain’s “Herbe Fresca” and “Pamplemousse”.

"L’Occitane’s Verbena is lovely too, particularly if you can get hold of the tiny little bottle of concentrate.

There are others, but I look completely obssessed already, I know so I should stop. But as much as I love perfume, I agree completey with ruadh, you shouldn’t be able to smell someone’s perfume unless you’re up close. Particulary with the powerful perfumes like “Opium’” less is decidely more.

I’m a scent junkie, but some of the really strong modern perfumes give me a headache.

I define people by their scent so I’m really finicky and careful when I change mine. I also have to be careful because I change the scent when wearing it. All avon stuff smells like soap on me.

High school was Giorgio’s “Wings”. I wore Oscar’s “Ruffles” all through college. Then “Oscar”. Estee Lauder’s “Spellbound” until it started smelling like ginger on me. Now I can’t wear any of those scents. I wore “Chanel No. 5” until my boss at the time asked me not to (It reminded him of his ex-wife.)

Now I wear “Organza” by Givenchy. It’s a little more floral than Ysatis, but not overly foo-foo.

And I’m very careful about how much I wear. I’ve been wearing this scent for almost 10 years now and I don’t smell it on me anymore. Never more than 2 squirts or dabs, and I periodically question my friends to see if it’s too much. Rule is: you shouldn’t be able to smell me unless we’re dancing, etc. If you are at arm’s length, then no scent.

No Scent Trails! I should not get on the elevator and say “Hmmm, Gena was here.”

Try here…

My preferred oil in high school wasn’t patchouli - it was frankinscense (sp?). Loved that stuff!!

Since then, I’ve worn White Diamonds for six years. Unfortunately, I’ve never had much of a chance to wear it. You DO NOT wear scents as an restaurant employee, then I worked in a gas station (wasn’t going to waste it!), restaurant again, vet clinic (was gonna be sweaty by the end of the day), and now I work with my MIL who is close to deathly allergic to perfumes and most scented things. We had a rep from Office Depot in our work room one day (conversing w/the purchaser) who wore TONS of Poison, and my MIL couldn’t go in there for the rest of the day. It really did linger for hours - there and in the front lobby.

I also love Shalimar by Guerlain (my mom’s perfume). When I was a kid, my mom had a bottle of lily of the valley oil, and I would love to get my hands on some of that!

My husband’s pretty sensitive to perfumes as well, so if I’m going to wear anything, I have to warn him so that he can take some Sudafed first !! :frowning:
