reply to Sigene:
getting back on track…..1956 ….and no where is there an implication that the victim or perpetrator are known for sports.
was the victim known for:
politics?
Acting?
writing?
science?
social movements?
or being married to someone from one of those?
None of these
Did this event happen before the victim’s name became known? (I would think so, since it would be odd for the perp to use an identity that would have been widely known at the time)
No
Did she use the name Nancy Drew?

You got it!. In the 1956 classic book The Mystery at the Ski Jump, Nancy has her driver’s licence stolen by the villainous Mitzi Adele. Mitzi, already committing fraud under another name, uses Nancy’s ID in other nefarious antics while Nancy gets the blame. At one point Mitzi uses Nancy Drew’s name to enter a skating contest while Nancy is in the audience. Once the late contestant is announced to the crowd, the real Nancy realizes what is going on and races back stage. Mitzi just escapes, but Nancy decides to perform in her place and has her dad watch the crowd. When the real Nancy performs, Mitzi’s confederate in the audience realizes something is amiss and tries to leave. The alerted police catch him. Meanwhile, of course, Nancy’s exceptional skating performance wins a prize.
Hope I did not spoil that for someone planning to read the book! ![]()
Not spoiled at all. Now I want to read the book! ![]()
A little different format but let’s give it a shot.
What is the link between the Faroe Islands and corn flakes?
Anything to do with the origin of corn flakes?
With the consuming of corn flakes?
With the shape of corn flakes?
Is there a direct link? or is there a connection or two, (or more) between them?
Is the connection something to do with the processing/manufacture of the flakes?
A wild possibility, but since breakfast food is involved…
Is the “link” a piece of sausage?
Yes. No. No.
It is a series of links
No
That’s an awesome idea … but no.
Anti-masturbation?
Anti-masturbation?
Ooooooohhhh. No.
Is there a connection through Niels Ryberg Finsen the Faroese Nobel Prize winner for Medicine and Physiology?
Yes. Bonus point if you know why his win is significant although it has no significant impact on the answer. You have the first link.
All I really know…though I can look it up for more detail….was that he suffered from a condition that he thought could be helped with light and his prize had something to do with light therapy to treat diseases.
Second link solved. Halfway there!
He is the only person from the Faroe Islands to win a Nobel Prize although that has nothing to do with the puzzle.
well I know that Kellogg guy who invented corn flakes had some unconventional health/medical treatment ideas, but I don’t know if it was anywhere in the direction of where we want to go.
So….question….is there a connection between that Kellogg dude who invented corn flakes and light therapy?
So….question….is there a connection between that Kellogg dude who invented corn flakes and light therapy?
Yes, but what is it? Soooooo close.
John Harvey Kellogg visited Finsen’s institution (and Auguste Rollier’s institution in Switzerland) to study the light therapy practices they were already using, and then brought the ideas back to his sanitarium in Battle Creek, Michigan where he would revise them into what was called the Light Bath, a light-therapy cabinet which he would present to the public at the World’s Fair in Chicago in 1893.
And there we are.
The only Nobel Laureate from the Faroe Islands is Niels Ryberg Finsen
Who won his prize in medicine for phototherapy
Which John Harvey Kellogg use as a therapy in his Battle Creek Sanitarium
Where he invented corn flakes for his patients.
