::facepalm::
I’m so glad this dummy is Canadian. Europeans dislike us enough already, we sure don’t need another clueless, arrogant “celebrity” like him touring the Continent under our flag.
I don’t know. What’s the problem? If she was alive today, she probably would have been a Bieberer (or whatever it is).
Justin Bieberer may be a moron, but people seem to forget he’s a kid. Kids do stupid shit all the time. I interpret his comment that he thought she was super cool, and he hoped that he would have her support and respect if times were different.
Yeah, I don’t really see what the issue is here.
I wonder if he knew who she was before he went there. I remember years ago when Melanie Griffith made that movie * Shining Through* with Michael Douglas she admitted that she had never heard of the Holocaust before.
Yeah, I’m not seeing the outrage here. On the one hand, perhaps he shouldn’t have phrased it in a way that implies he is a bigger or more important celebrity (if that is what he did), but I doubt that’s what he intended .
On the other hand, isn’t part of the tragedy of Anne Frank that she was just a normal human being with human flaws who got caught up in evil beyond her control?
She was not a saint.
We’ve all had that same thought: If Anne hadn’t died horribly at the age of 15 in a concentration camp at the hands of the Nazis, I hope she would have been a fan of me. Bieber was just the first one courageous enough to say it.
You died in a concentration camp, have inspired millions of young people with your diary, but it’s all about MEEEEEEE!!!
If Anne Frank were still alive today she’d be in her 80s. I seriously doubt there are many “Beliebers” in the “Females 75 and up” demographic.
I get that some people view all Holocaust-related material as requiring 100% reverence. Personally, I gather that if Anne Frank were alive today (and in her late teens), she might be more into Lilith Fair than Justin Bieber.
That boy, I say, that boy’s about as sharp as a box full of wet feathers. (Then there was his “Sixteenth Chapel” comment on Letterman.)
He may look like he’s 12, but he’s 19. That’s not a “kid”.
This. Tonedeafness caused by too much celebrity at too early an age.
Mostly I just feel sad for him.
Anne Frank’s house, Auschwitz, Masada, Wounded Knee, Pearl Harbour - these are all places where you are taken out of yourself through the contemplation of what others have suffered. To be able to come out of a place like that thinking of yourself just shows that you have no sense of empathy nor perspective.
It’s like the scene where Zaphod Beebelbrox survives the Total Perspective Vortex because he’s too self-centred for it to have any effect.
This just in: Justin Bieber visits the Wailing Wall and leaves a scroll in a niche that reads:
“If this temple were never destroyed, it would have been a kick-ass venue for one of my concerts.”
Actually, he survives it because unlike all other mortals, he actually was the most important person in the universe (since he saves it).
I can’t believe Rod Serling never did a Twilight Zone based on the obvious premise suggested here.
TY for forcing me to see this on a way I never would have.
But dude, he said she was a great girl!!!
Jokes aside, I second the Ministre’s comments…I came out of Anne Frank’s house totally depressed.
In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.
Until now…
