I noticed they had them in the Big Grabs here for a while. I don’t know if they still have them though.
Our local drugstore chains have racks of the flavors in small bags - the supermarkets only have the larger bags.
I was disappointed in the final flavor choices. OK, I’m speaking as someone that submitted a whole bunch of entries that didn’t win ( although I believe I was among the probably hundreds of people that submitted Mango Salsa ) I also submitted pineapple/peach salsa which I think was a better flavor, and I think my Wicked Hot Chocolate (hot chocolate with jalapeno) would’ve been a way better flavor than Cappuchino.
Last year’s contest by the same company featured a flavor called Cajun Squirrel.
Surprisingly, the inventors of both these flavors say they were “inspired” by Americans. Is there some misapprehension in Britain that we eat things like squirrels and raccoons here in America? When it comes to meat, we’re actually very finicky: we eat beef, pork, chicken, and turkey. Most Americans don’t even eat mutton or rabbit or duck much less raccoons or squirrels.
I would be tempted to try Daffy/Dirty/Deep Fried Duck, actually, or even Duck A L’Orange. Feel free to submit for next year’s contest. I already have my (secret) flavor in mind.
Interesting that the top prize is $1 Mil in the states, but £1 Mil in the UK. Do you guys eat that many more chips/crisps than we do?
I think the only one I would even try would be the wasabi/ginger. The rest don’t even sound good.
That’s funny - I was making a joke about other flavors a few weeks ago to my friends (without knowing the other flavors) and I came up with Cesar salad. I bet it was good!
Wish I knew about Ranch Raccoon at the time, woulda dropped that in too.
This is the UK. When I was young we had Hedgehog Flavoured Crisps.
I’ve tried all of the US flavors. Cappuccino was the last one I wanted to try because coffee & potato just don’t go together. The chips themselves were everything I hoped they (wouldn’t) be. I think I had 2 chips before giving up.
Cheddar bacon mac & cheese is okay. Not that different from any other cheesy flavored potato chip.
Mango salsa is okay, but a bit artificially sweet.
My favorite so far is the Wasabi ginger, although I think I missed the ginger flavor. Would prefer these as “regular” chips, not kettle cooked.
I bought a bag of “lime” flavored tortilla chips once, think I made a thread about it.
Now in theory tortilla chips with lime juice on em shouldn’t be bad at all, sounds fine right? WRONG, because they didn’t taste like they were drizzled with lime juice, they tasted like fookin’ Fruit Loops cereal! Just hideous, and totally inedible. Worst thing I’d ever tasted level of wrong, how does lime flavor=shitload of sugar?
My experience is that meat flavors don’t work outside of meat. Meat flavors served at room temperatures (like in potato chips) just taste greasy.
I’ve seen the smaller try-em bags at the local Walgreens and CVS.
Interesting that most of the supermarkets around here are still carrying the Mango Salsa and Cappuccino but not the Wasabi Ginger…
So, goose flavor would be right out, eh?
