I have found my favorite potato chip flavor

Herr’s cheddar and horseradish. Horseradish. Doesn’t sound as if it should work and yet it does. The horseradish marries beautifully with the cheddar for a sharply pleasing taste.

What’s your favorite potato chip / potato crisp flavor?

I’ve never heard of the Herr’s brand. Is it limited geographically?

I love a good horseradish, so this sounds super yummy!

My fave is a high-quality salt-and-vinegar. But it has to be a good brand. Miss Vickie’s is…okay, not great. A friend once shared a bag he brought in from Canada, and, mein Gott, that was good!

Wasabe peas are good; I’ll bet wasabe chips would be wonderful!

I like all-dressed chips. They’re good on their own, or you can use plain yoghurt as a dip for them; this yields a new flavor rather unlike the chips or yoghurt.

Lay’s has a new “Wasabe and Ginger” I’ve seen at a couple gas stations in the snack size bag. Even then it seems to be limited stocking that’s not there all the time. It’s relatively light on the Wasabe but my new guilty pleasure for snack foods.

My fav are the time-tested and beloved sour cream and onion…but only Ruffles. However, I love horseradish, and the ones in the OP sound great. I’ve seen them but haven’t tried them, so I guess this is a message from God that I should. (He speaks in mysterious ways.)

My favorites are dill and vinegar or salt and vinegar. And hot vinegar, but I rarely see those. I’m also a sucker for pretty much any Kettle Chips brand potato chip, especially their red curry one and the retired jerk flavor. Walkers UK also had some fun flavors I liked, like Worcestershire and pickled onion.

Maui Sweet Onion. One bit of one of those, and my knees turn to total jelly.

Pennsylvania-based company, distribution primarily East of the Mississippi River.

Ham. You may have to swim a few thousand miles to find them.

Doritos has a new flavor called “Roulette”. I think you have about a 1 in 5 chance of getting a super hot flavored chip. Non sequitur, but it is a chip thread.

When I was living in the US my absolute favourite was Lay’s Ketchup chips because I couldn’t get them. I only had them when visiting my grandparents for Christmas.

When I first moved back to Canada my favourite was Lay’s Jalapeno and Cheddar as Canada did not have that flavour and I missed the cheesy goodness with the slight bite of the pepper.

Now my favourite is Sour Cream and Bacon chips. I started eating them because they were the only flavour that my room-mates would not eat but now will choose them above any other.

Snyder’s of Hanover makes a kosher dill chip that is awesome.

Herr’s makes several tasty flavors. I like Baby Back Ribs, Kansas City Prime Steak, and Old Bay Seasoning flavors. I find them in the 7-11 or bigger gas stations here in the North East. I try not to eat a lot because, salty, but they really taste a bit like their descriptions. My very favorite is Lays Lightly Salted, very very thin, essence of potato, irresistible.

Utz Red Hots. Just good, crisp chips and a very simple cayenne flavoring. They taste great and the heat sneaks up on you.

And, quite oddly for Nwingland, it has no sweet, honey, or bland BBQ overtones.

Utz unsalted. Sounds weird (tastes weird at first) but I started really liking the potato flavor when it isn’t drowned out by salt.

I particularly like the Kettle Chips brand pepperoncini flavor. If I had to describe it, it’s a hybrid of the jalapeno flavored chips with the salt & vinegar flavored chips.

Utz Red Hot chips are outstanding.

Utz also makes an Onion and Garlic flavor that I really enjoy, but almost no one carries it.

Grandma Utz’s Kettle chips are excellent. I recently encountered a Bacon Horseradish flavor that was amazing.

If none of those are available, my go-to flavor is Sour Cream and Onion.

Yum. I’m with pulykamel, I love the salt and vinegar and dill chips. That sour, puckery, salty taste is just perfect.

And I agree on the Herr’s chips. They have really nailed the meat flavors. It’s a bit weird to crunch a chip and taste meat, but I have to give them total props for flavor replication.

Lays Chili Ginger Lime (green bag, Thailand)

Yummo!

Herr’s Horseradish Cheddar is amazing. I think I started a thread here about them a few years ago.
