We are taking a short break at leechy’s office after spending the last 10 hours with leechbub at the Royal Children’s hospital. I was called in as Leechboy had no option but to show up at work. The poor little one has been running a fever, had diarrhoeah, vomiting and the shakes. A rash developed while we were waiting in emergency. Leechy is not great with seeing her bub stuck with needles so I got to be the bad guy there for the IV, blood, urine and lumbar punctures. The good news is that she does not have meningitis and started to seem better with the IV and anti biotics, the bad news is she has to stay in overnight.
Leechy has been a trooper, I can only imagine how hard it has been for her to watch her bubs go through all of it. While I am not of a religious nature the leech family are and I am sure they would appreciate all the prayers and thoughts they can get at this time.
Poor kid. I don’t like needles stuck in ME, either, and at least I know why I’m being stuck! She’ll probably feel a LOT better after being rehydrated with an IV, though.
Lots of prayers, good thoughts and healing wishes. Ack, there’s pretty much nothing worse than seeing your child in pain and not being able to help. Or that look they give you when they’re having a medical procedure done and they dont’ understand why you’re standing there letting it happen. Ugh. It’s awful. But the little bub will recover and forget and be fine and it will all be just a not so good memory for mom and dad. Big hugs and hopes for a speedy recovery.
