Lesbian Gingerbread - A Chocolatey and Nostalgic MMP

Very good, actually. The first load is in the washer, and four (!!) others are sorted and ready to go. That doesn’t include sheets and towels, but I’ll do those later; first I need clean undies!

And speaking of clean undies, poor MIL indeed, Dotty. What happened? Is she sick, or is this a more chronic problem? In any case, how embarrassing for her. :frowning:

I think MIL has a tummy bug right now (from what I could understand of our usual fairly uni-directional conversation), so I imagine she thought she was going to fart but the gas was behind something more, shall we say, substantial. The weird thing was, I smelled something (like a dirty diaper) the second we walked into the supermarket, and thought someone’s kid must have had an oopsie. It must have been MIL, but we nonetheless spent a good 20 minutes wandering round the store and the only reason (according to MIL) that we had to leave was because her bio-knee was hurting and she needed to sit down. The worst thing was getting caught in the lunch-time peak hour traffic, so what would normally be a 10-15 minute drive was more like 30 minutes. Fortunately, I have a meat-eating toddler whose nappies/diapers I change on a regular basis, so the wafting from the passenger side didn’t make me want to hurl too badly. I was however grateful to reach our destination and breathe fresh air!!! :stuck_out_tongue:  (that’s me gasping for air!)

ETA: MIL was wearing a black abbaya over her dress (aka caftan), so nobody could see anything, but the smell was overwhelming!

Dammit dammit dammit.

Barack Obama’s going to be here today. Had I known this, I would have called in a Sanity Day. Driving home this afternoon is going to suck.

NOTE TO POLITICIANS: Screwing up the afternoon commute? Not a good way to win over independent voters.

Okay, I’m done skimming page 3 (100 posts per page for the WIN!). All caught up. This caught my eye:

Remind me to send you a copy of the Sentence Collection. That was the best part of grading papers, especially freshman papers. The winner of the entire eight-page masterpiece? “Sugary sucked balls.” My comment: “Surgery is spelled with an e.” It was later revised to “Surgery was the worst experience of my life.”

Off to update my Goodreads list. I highly recommend L.A. Confidential if you like crime noir. Truly compelling mystery, it is.

Is that anything like “Chef’s Chocolate Salty Balls”?

**Puggy ** and beebs, thanks for the info. I called my doctor today. They want me to drop off another sample and said if I really do still have a UTI that I’ll need to see a urologist.

And, as I’m thinking about it, there wouldn’t have been a chance for, um, re-infection since I started the antibiotic this last time, anyways, before I started feeling crappy again. Actually, I’m wondering still if it’s a UTI this time or my ovaries dancing around. Guess we’ll find out.

Oh, yes, and must mention this: Good Hygiene---- CHECK, Consistent Antibiotic Taking---- CHECK. Guess it must be those rogue bacteria. :dubious:

EEK! on the MIL storry, Dotty. :: shows her cultural ignorance :: What’s an abbaya? Wikipedia seems to be stumped.

I think I might take a second lunch. When I took the first one, I wasn’t hungry, so I didn’t get anything to eat. I just returned the evil eyeshadow. Which Clinique nicely credited to my Visa, and I even get to keep the free gift! Wow, Macy’s was packed today!

Hi everybody!

Back from three days in the North… no way I’m going to catch up, so yays, boos and hugs as appropriate.

Of course we spent the first day of our vacation down in the Jordan Rift Valley. Outdoors. On the hottest day of the year so far.

39 degrees.

Celsius.

For the metric-challenged folks in the central third of North America :stuck_out_tongue:  – that’s 102

Since it was mostly spent paddling a small zodiac-type rubber boat down the Jordan’s tributaries, and then getting wet in the Jordan itself, it wasn’t that bad, though.

Rest of the time wasn’t as hot, and we spent some of it up in the Golan Heights, anyway. And realized at about 6 PM that our hosts for the day meant it when they said we should bring sweaters… Which of course we didn’t. Brrr…

Off work until Monday now, since Thursday is always my Firday, and Sunday (which is usually a work day) is Passover Day. Of course, we’re hosting the Seder Saturday night, so there will be little rest for the wicked…

**Pie ** - how lng have you been on antibiotics? If it’s a while, your body may be rebelling - there is such a thing as too many antibiotics - those things kill off the good bacteria, too, which can affect your innards adversely

Considering you guys and the Jordanians both have sucked so much water out of the river that I can cross it with a standing broad jump, it must have been an interesting walk…

See, the idea is to practice one’s water sport somewhat above the point at which the water is pulled out!

[pedant mode: Israel takes water from the Sea of Galilee, which – while River Jordan does both flow into it and out of it – is not strictly speaking part of the River. Jordan (the country) takes it’s water from the Yarmuk River, which is a tributary of the Jordan, but, again, is not the River Jordan itself. So, strictly speaking, there isn’t any large-scale pumping of water out of the Jordan – although the river exists pretty much at the Whim of Man from the efflux from the Sea of Galilee and Southward]

Abaya. For some interesting reading check out the blog called Saudi Stepford Wife, she’s an American who married a Saudi and though she doesn’t often have time to post it can be real interesting. She’s also linked some interesting videos on You Tube.

I had Captain Feathersword’s song in my head most of this morning. I took my son to see the Wiggles last night. Now I’m just catching up on work while I find I can breathe! And tonight my friend and I are going for Vietnamese before we exchange my tv. My treat, because she’s driving (I can’t wait till I have my own car though, then I won’t have to rely on her. I feel kinda bad for asking all the time you know? Not that I do, because I don’t want to impose, it just feels like it.)

Thanks Flutter! The one MIL was wearing looks kinda like this, but without the face-covering.

Oky-doke, off to beddy-byes for this little black duck! Nighty-night!

Hey there everyone. I haven’t had a chance to catch up so let me throw yays, hugs, boos, and kisses to all those in need.

I am home from work today. I woke up in the middle of the night with a killer headache. I tried to sleep it off, but then ended up oversleeping for work. I woke up still feeling pretty icky. My stomach was acting up too, so I just called in. I suppose I could have gone on into work; I mean, I would have survived, but I hate being late to work and feeling gross doesn’t help it.

I have plenty of leave, so it’s not a biggie.

We received our new cell phones yesterday. Hubby’s is quite nice and does a bunch of fancy, schmancy stuff, but he’s discovered it’s quite a battery hog. Mine is just a simple phone and will do the job for now.

Mr. Taters is not having a very good day at work. The fuel filter on his semi is completely clogged up and it died on the highway. When I talked to him last, the mechanics were there and they were trying to figure out how to get a fuel filter to the truck.

I was all  :dubious: , when Mr. Taters told me that. It seems to me that they would have some extra fuel filters in the shop. I dunno, maybe that makes too much sense, huh?

I am quickly running out of clothes to wear. They are all getting too big and some are ridiculously large so I there’s no way to wear them and look half-way decent.

My bras are soon going to have to be chucked as well.

Dammit, I have about 20 pounds to go and I really don’t want to have to spend money on clothes twice in the space of a couple of months.

I should try and do something productive around the house, since I’m here and all. We’ll see, I still feel kind of “blurfy”.

You’re welcome. The only reason I knew that was because I was doing some reading/research awhile ago for a character (the style of dress mainly) which led to the Saudi blog (and I realized I used interesting twice… it is interesting though, seeing a different culture from the eyes of one similar). She’s written a couple of posts about abayas.

Oh hey! I forgot to mention, they’re actually predicting lowland snow tomorrow morning, tomorrow night and into Saturday morning.

Where the HELL is spring?

I dunno, but it’s not here because they’re predicting snow for us too.

It’s here in the Northeast. 70s and sunny for the next few days

So it you who stole our spring Rosie? How could you?!

I’m still trying to get motivated here…

It’s nice here. It’s summer today.

Ick, Dotty. Poor you, poor MIL. Yuck.
I’m bracing myself. We’re probably going to try getting the kid to learn to put himself to sleep tonight. There will be crying. He’s requiring a half-hour (at least) lying down nursing session every night to go to sleep, and it’s getting longer and he’s getting cryinger and cryinger (real word). So we’re planning to calm him, feed him, put him in his crib, and go in at five minute intervals for twenty minutes to reassure him. After that, try nursing to sleep.

For four or so days, every night.

Any critiques?

I really don’t want to set it up so I’m the only one he’ll sleep for, and he’s getting more difficult about sleeping in general.
