Happy birthday, Haze! (too tired for fancy coding)
That was not very pleasant. The kidl didn’t nap very well on his last nap, and so got hysterically tired by eight-thirty. Put him in his crib after he shouted at us for a while- he’s already crying, we’ve done the normal getting ready for bed stuff- and sat around clutching each other’s hands for half an hour.
I think he fell asleep a coupld of times for a minute or so, and when we brought him back out, he fell asleep within about three minutes. We’ll keep doing it for three more days, and if that doesn’t work Mr. Lissar will have to get used to being kicked in the ribs by a rolly baby.
It’s very early. Make it be less early.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffienated and purtified for work even! Ima go in in a bit to take care of some stuff for a couple of hours then go to da sto’ and come back home. I’ll work a few hours from home today just because. I mean, I could do what I’ll do from home at work but, heck, if’n I can come home and do it, why not. Supper tonight shall be bacon cheeseburgers cause that’s what I want. I grill all this wunnerful stuff but still my two most favorite grilled things are burgers and hot dogs. Go Figure. MMMMMMM… burgers hot off the grill. Now I’ve made myself hongry!
I ate. I’m still feeling icky. Might lay back down.
Stoopid news people… Talking about the quake this morning, and the CNN anchor introduced someone down in Southern Illinois by starting out that they were in bed. Tone implying that he should have been up or something… It was 4:38 this morning in Illi. wasn’t it? Amazing that someone might be sleeping at that hour!
Many Happy Returns of the Day, Hazel LiLi–I am confused. If Gnat has gone down (ie sleeping), why are you picking him back up? Or is he crying still when you pick him back up? I really hate to tell you this, but if you put him in the crib for say 5 minutes and he’s crying and you pick him back up–you just taught him he has to cry for at least 5 minutes…
Tricky bastards, aren’t they. They’re smarter than they look, too.
It was supposed to rain last night and it didn’t. I need some rain! I planted scabiosa and moved some chinodoxa the other day. I’ll have to water after work.
We were using a version of WhyNot’s method, which is to try it for several nights, for a preset period of time. We went in for a minute every five minutes, reassured him, didn’t pick him up, and left. After half an hour of visits we grabbed him and put him to sleep with me.
It may be ineffective, but Nat did fall asleep really quickly after, and he’s doing the same crying whether or not he’s in his crib… sigh. If it works, that would be great. If it doesn’t work, at least he’s not biting and kicking and punching me while I try to get him settled. We might try forty minutes tonight.
In other, non-baby-related news, my internet is acting funny, but I think most of the ants are dead.
**Happy HazeDay!!! ** <flinging confetti with wild and reckless abandon>
Today is Firday and Hooky day. I called in. I had a crappy night and I just didn’t feel like going to the office. I have nothing pressing to do, so I’m not doing it. At least not there.
**FCD ** and I went out to breakfast, and he’s about to head to the boat. I’ve got some petunias and snapdragons to plant in the planters along the front porch, then I’ll load the trash and recycling in the van and dispose of it. Finally, I’ll spend the afternoon making wedding meatballs. I found a recipe on line that sounds yum and I bought 5# of ground beef yesterday. I figure whatever we don’t need for the wedding, I’ll freeze for us. Yay.
I’ve also got 6# of chickie tits that I’m gonna cut into chunks and marinate in teriyaki. I thought I might toss some pineapple in with them - also for the wedding. If I get this stuff done here, it’s that much less I have to try to do in my kid’s questionably outfitted kitchen.
Also on the wedding front, it looks like my best friend from Jax won’t make it. One of her few remaining cousins is probably going to need surgery and it might be happening soon enough that she’ll be flying out west next week. So bummer for her cousin, and bummer for her missing the wedding. Poor thing is cursed - just when things seem to be going smoothly in her life, the proverbial doo-doo hits the proverbial fan and she takes a direct hit.
Well, off to read the funnies, then play in dirt. Good times, good times…
One of my cranky old man drivers wrote a letter to the editor in the local paper in which he identified himself as a driver for us, and then proceeded to insult kids for being “not the sharpest knives in the drawer” because they don’t always obey safety rules. Then he called the drivers around schools “impatient idiots” for driving so fast near the schools.
It was a big day yesterday in The Village of Green. Not only did we have a Big Name at the football stadium, we also had a Big Fire. Complicated Roommate saw it burning when he went to get cigarettes (ironically) last night. WOWCrack Roommate blamed the crackheads for the fire. It was still smoking when I went by it at 7:45 this morning.
MBG yeah, insulting the other bus drivers and the kids. That’ll make him real popular with his co-workers and parents.
MOOOOOOM I am intrigued by wedding meatballs. I envision there also bein’ anniversary meatballs, birthday meatballs, retirement meatballs etc. Meatballs, the versatile party food!
I went to work, did a few things, went to da sto’ and now I’m home. I’m also hungry but don’t know what I want. This from someone with a fridge full of edible stuff. I made up hamburgers for tonight already. I’m so productive and efficient. Plus hungry. I should go forage.
OK, swampy, so they’re not called Wedding Meatballs, but since that’s when we’ll be serving them… I’m also going to somewhat modify this dish into a crockpot full of chickie tit chunks. Plus steamed shrimp, Maryland style, and future mother-in-law’s wontons, and the assorted fruit, veggie, and cheese munchies. And cakes. And cheesecakes. Them people better eat at that wedding!
I’m done my planting/transplanting for now. I should have gotten more annuals while I was out yesterday - oh well. I’m about to load the van and do trash/recycling.
**FCD ** just called from the marina. Since we’re in a new slip and we’re moored bow in vice stern in, our power cord isn’t long enough to reach the power box on the pier. We have an old power cord, but it needs a new end. The cost of a new end and boot is more than half of the cost of a brand new complete cord. So rather than cheap out and end up with only a half-new cord, we’re going to break down and get a whole new cord. There’s $90 we didn’t intend to spend, but we gotta. Otherwise, we can’t keep the batteries charged or keep the fridge on or have lights on the boat and stuff. Once again, we’re pouring money into that hole in the water. Good thing we like sailing, huh?
Anyway, off to do the trash thing. It’s a loverly day with all the windows open, so I may be doing more garden stuff later.
I don’t want to be at work. But I don’t want to use another vacation day yet. And I’m not quite ready for everyone to start giving me a hard time about never working Fridays… that’s a summer thing!
I’m going to have to try that curry chicken recipe, Smarts. I think we’ve got everything in the house we need to make it so I think it’s going on the menu for next week. We really like curry so it should be a hit. Thanks for suggesting it.
I’ve slept so well this week. (Sorry for those who aren’t sleeping… I’m not trying to brag. I’ve been fighting the insomnia thing off and on for 2 years.) I even slept all the way through the night without getting up even once to go to the bathroom last night. Yay! It’s made it a lot easier to get up to go to the gym in the morning too.
I’m thinking of starting a blog. Not for any real reason, but with family and friends all spread out, it’d be a nice way to let everyone know what’s going on with us. I just need to get better about taking pictures though. Blogs without pictures aren’t very interesting.
