Chicken soup!

pprgrl, I think I’m in love
**Spaz **- your 100-habanero salsa sounds good, too. Now just put in a head of garlic as well, and I’m set

**Bobbio **-- you may want to have a crew out to put out possible fires, just in case…

ETA: OK, how did that happen…? I was sure I was setting somebody else up to be first on the page?

::jealous:: :frowning:

I agree with all of these. Any soup, stew or chowder seems to be better on the second day, and any sort of beans. I’m also think potato salad (especially German potato salad) is better on day two, as long as it wasn’t left sitting out on the picnic table too long on day one.

I really miss meatloaf. Lentil loaf is just not the same, and does not make a good second-day sandwich.

Aww…

psst, I didn’t actually say I was in love with her… Make of it what you will

Soups, of course soups! Especially my grandmother’s crab soup. <insert drool here>

Clearly he’s in love with my rice & beans. As you all should be.

:o

McUne, I was just looking for cookie recipes on the recipe blog and saw your Grandma’s Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies recipe. Can you tell me about that? What are they like? Just a regular choc chip cookie but soft? How many does the recipe make? Thanks!

Yay for Firday!

What should I eat that’s easy to make and not too unhealthy while KeithT’s out of town for the weekend? I might go out for Bad Chinese since he thinks that Chinese food should be good (which isn’t the point of Bad Chinese, but I can’t convince him of that) or for a Major Chain Restaurant burger since he also generally objects to Major Chain Restuarants, but that still leaves a few meals that I need to decide what to make. And it leaves me needing something not totally unhealthy after eating a burger and/or Bad Chinese food!

OMG, CutiePie, that baked potato salad sounds delicious! My mouth is watering …:stuck_out_tongue:

Wooo hooo, the weekend is finally here! I’m in for the night; tomorrow will bring a trip to Trader Joe’s, but a restrained one. LOL Meaning I’m only spending a certain amount of cash. Then a trip to the regular grocery store. Maybe the grocery store will be on Sunday, that will depend on how long it takes to get to TJ’s and back. Ay yi yi! Other than that, I’m just going to chill this weekend.

My youngest brother, who is an alcoholic in deep denial, is in the hospital tonight. I don’t know very many details, but apparently he was jumped and beat up last night; he ended up at one ER but left that hospital today. Now he’s in another hospital, one that has a good rehab program. Please keep him in your thoughts and especially prayers - he’s got to want to do this, though, so please pray that he’s reached that point. His long time GF kicked him out a couple of weeks ago and now his boss has reached the end of his rope with him as well. He’s reached rock bottom, but just doesn’t seem to be aware of it yet. I am so worried for him. Unfortunately, there’s not much I can do except to pray for him.

Umm…they are good chocolate chip cookies, LOL. It’s the only recipe I’ve ever made, but they are so yummy. Other chocolate chip cookies that people bring in to work and stuff are harder, these are so moist and yummy. Love them. I think they make 3-4 dozen, but I don’t really know, since I tend to eat and set aside some of the dough, LOL

Urgh. Nat just finished a twenty-minute crying jag, brough on, as near as we can tell, by opera.

That’s okay. I don’t like opera either.
I hate it when he cries actual tears.

Good grief all kindsa stuff happen when I can’t come by… VBob, yer on! (If you remember from several pages ago.) Oh and Happy, Happy Birthday Hazel m’dear! Hope it’s a good one. In your honor, we’ve had (in the great PNW) sun, rain, hail, snow/hail mix and now it’s snowing again! But… it’s April fer cryin’ out loud! Who said there’s global warming, anyway! And my belly is very mad at me. Taken out to lunch, I indulged in a glass of Cab., luscious Kobe beef mini-burgers that were divine, and completed my heavenly meal with Chocolate pot de creme with 3 delicious beignets. Good heavens, I’m soooo stuffed, supposed to stay at work 'til 5, but am the only one here. I neeeeed a nap and think I may just bag it at 4:30.

Hope all have a wonderfully delightful weekend. Sleep in, take naps, enjoy beervages n such! All you ailin’ feel better soon, take yer medsins n such and come back well! Oh and while we’re having a light snow, the sun decided to come out. I’m so confused!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAZE!!!

I am so glad it’s Friday! Today seemed especially long, even if it was my “short” day (8 hours).

Nothing new going on here in Taterland. We are most definitely having crazy weather; snow, hail, rain, sleet, you name it, we’ve seen it today. They’re predicting more wet snow overnight and into the morning.

I think I’ll cruise the Dope for a few minutes.

Thanks guys!

Herbs, your brother is in my thoughts. I know what it’s like to have a brother that causes you nothing but worry!

I actually spent this afternoon quite pleasantly. I think I’ll be going out with my friends for my birthday dinner tomorrow.

Happy Birthday, Haze!

Your brother is in my thoughts, Tarra.

Tired. Lots to do tomorrow. Need to think about everything I want to get done this weekend. Monday, it’s off to the Cincinnati Flower Show. Yay!!!

Dinner was 2 quesadillas and a serving of Soapy’s Mango and Black Bean salad (which is yummy by the way - need to go review it).

Who wants to start us off on Monday, by the way???

GT

blocked again! curse you WorkFireWall! Curse you and the router you rode in on!

in lieu of actually reading (tho I did see beebs’ lolcatting of Haze & kitty), I present my sig tag.

Who posted the Chicken Jalfrezi recipe? I’m too lazy to go back and look.

Can’t keep up, didn’t even try.

The lady who was a total bitch on the phone yesterday? I got her as a pt today AND the crazy bastard Nice Coworker had to deal with yesterday–he was my pt, too. (clue to the unknowing: if you are scheduled for surgery and are told to not eat or drink anything, don’t get up at 0300 and eat a sandwich!).

He was a piece of work and THEN, I got the pt from hell: the one who sat on his cart, calm and quiet and insisted he could not breathe! Really? If you can’t breathe, most times you can’t talk, either and you aren’t sitting quietly (well, not for some time–after a bit of not breathing, you sit very quietly indeed). Guy was a wreck–can’t breathe, there’s blood in my mouth (he had MOUTH AND NOSE surgery), what is this, what is that, and my personal favorite: his writing of notes to me–because he can’t talk (except to tell me he can’t breathe).

But I had several very nice people as well–one old guy, when Sometimes Annoying Coworker said I “yelled” at pts (as if), told me that I could fuss at him all I liked. He liked to hear and he was sure I enjoyed it–the old flirt!
And I got home at 630 for a change. Very nice. I am getting up early tomorrow to stand in line at the village hall for a $40 rain barrel. It never stops over here…

I am an idiot. My office gets stuffy when it’s warm, but not warm enough to turn on the AC. We have a couple of those handy-dandy window fans, but somehow I ended up with one that isn’t reversible, i.e. to blow air out rather than suck air in (since we have good air flow through the house if something gets it moving).

Except I just figured out that, duh-hey, if I physically pick the silly thing up and turn it 180°, it’ll blow out, not in. :smack: I am an idiot. :smack:

I finally finished up the latest transcript for the Smithsonian, which convinced me yet again that I understand nothing about modern art. But I also discovered that the painter whose interview I just finished has an exhibition happening in snowbunny’s little town in the mountains (it may be small, but the amount of $$ there is not, and this painter’s works cost more than $$, probably at least $$$$ if not $$$$$$), so I’m going to go in and physically look at them and see if, in person, I can grasp anything more about what she does. I consider myself a fairly well-educated person, but I am also not a visual person, so other than liking to look at things that are pretty, I just don’t get art, especially abstract art. But confronted with paintings that fill entire walls, perhaps I will? I dunno, it’s worth a shot, anyway. Especially considering how regularly I’m doing these Smithsonian jobs lately. So we shall see.

Otherwise, today has been singularly unexciting. I finished laundry, sent Papa Tigs on a bunch of errands till it was time for hockey to start again, and am now contemplating at least getting the next job underway, after watching What Not to Wear first, of course. Because I’m such a fashion plate, don’t you know. :dubious:

Oh, one more thing better the second day: Papa Tigs’ adobo (a Filipino dish, which you would have tasted if you’d made Gettysdope this year). Also his gumbo, which is good any day, actually. Ummm, gumbo…

I just remembered something vitally important I learned today! When we moved here, there was a huge vacant stretch of land just off Route 2 that’s been undergoing a lot of construction in the last few months. While most of it will be condos, I found out today that they’re also putting in a Target! Now I won’t have to go all the way to Bowie to pay my Target entrance fee! This will be soooo dangerous…but definitely welcome. I just can’t justify driving 20 miles to save a few bucks, y’know? But just up the road – not a problem!

My life is a mix of bed, work, Target and Whole Foods Market (tonight was eggplant lasanga night).

*Most * dangerous I’d say.
