Lesbian Gingerbread - A Chocolatey and Nostalgic MMP

Thank god. I thought my cones (or is it rods?) were going bad on me there. I could no more wear that color than I could land an airplane (I’d have more success landing the plane). It looks pretty on you–very springy-summery. I can wear peach, but not coral. Or lime green. Or turquoise–not that you asked. I bet you look good in all 3 (please not at the same time).

I am taking the high road and not acknowledging that you also did the down and dirty with I KNOW WHO AND YOU KNOW I KNOW WHO. See me not saying a thing about HOW THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU LONG TERM. I can practice restraint and discretion, really.

Haze!!! Tsk tsk…

Someone had to take the low road

I ache. Holy cow, do I ache. I just swallered me some ibuprofen, but I don’t hold out much hope that it’ll help. I’ve also got the rosey glow of youth about me - OK, a little bit of sun redness - not really a burn, but I definitely got sun - duh - I worked in the sun all day!

I was just outside admiring my work - that’s one nice thing about gardening - you can really see the difference after your labors. I was also looking at my van and the trailer - both are covered with pollen - and I just washed my van! grrrrrr

And that’s pretty much all I have to share. 'Cept that our mail was delivered - 2 magazines, 2 catalogs, 3 bills, and some assorted crap. I hope the postmaster yelled at our carrier, but I’m also going to ask our critter sitter to check the mailbox when she comes over, just in case they forget when the stop order goes into effect. Last time, they forgot to restart. I’m hoping it’s just a coincidence that it happened to me twice and that our letter carriers aren’t that thick.

Methinks I’ll sleep well tonight…

Incidentally, Haze, love the top, including the color!

rigs, young lady, did I not tell you that I expected that paper to get done before you played today? :dubious: I certainly hope you have completed it by now. No excuses. Get that paper done and I mean now! And don’t you stomp your foot at me either.

Evenin’ Y’all! The dinner was a success. Or maybe it was a supper bein’ as it was at five o’clock. Anywho, ‘twas good and a hit. We done goooooooood today! That beef brisket was fork tender and nummmmmmmmmy! The baked beans (made by your ever lovin’ bear) were good as ever and the coleslaw was too. We even had homemade chocolate chip cookies for dessert. We’s all class! A guy from one of the other churches in the convocation brought his DJ setup so we’d have music whilst eatin’ and socializin’. He played oldies. Everybody really seemed to enjoy it. We were singin’ and dancin’ in the kitchen while serving. Dinner and a floor show. We know how to entertain down at St. Pat’s! I spent a few minutes in the workshop for Lectors. I wish I coulda sat in for the whole thing but, alas, cookin’ duties called. There were also workshops for Acolytes and Altar Guild. There were 98 people there, which was a pretty good turnout for one of these things. We did not eat outside. I’m glad better sense prevailed. It rained this mornin’ and then, true to the usual, it became very, very, humid this afternoon. Too humid to eat outdoors, even now. So, after the workshops were over, we met for Evening Prayer and then had to set up tables and chairs so people could sit and eat. We have a truly multipurpose space used for worship and as a Parish Hall. A bunch of the folks from other churches had never seen our new place and seemed quite impressed with it and how we utilize our space. Made da bear feel good.

So, I’s pooped! Ol’ y’all know who told me a bit ago I looked tired. I am tahred! I foresee melatonin and early sleepy time for me tonight.

Later Y’all!

I like that colour, Haze. It’s quite lovely.

Right now I’m pondering what to make for supper. It’s 5:30 so it’ll have to be a quick supper or it’ll be a late supper (which I don’t mind, I’m not too hungry and I don’t think the rest of us are either).

Maybe I should do the shake n bake chicken, some smashed NOT and figure some veggies out of what we have in the pantry/fridge. If anything, we at least have carrots.

I also just told the guy that I’m not interested in dating right now and life is hectic (which is the truth) and he said to look him up when I am interested. I won’t, because if he were the guy then I would find the time to be interested in dating. :stuck_out_tongue:

Purty top, Haze. I look terrible in just about every shade of pink, so I guess it’s a good thing I’m not all that fond of the colour. Looks cute on you, tho.

FCM, I have serious garden envy. My hostas haven’t made an appearance so far - all I’ve got is little purple tips peeking out to check if it’s safe. I’m also jealous that rigs has blooming magnolias. Hmph. (I love magnolias, but there isn’t a good spot to put one in our yard. I comfort myself in the knowledge that I have the next best thing - an ancient gnarly lilac that is probably older than I am and that will be blooming like a mofo come May.)

My daffs and tulips are taking their sweet-ass time this year… a few of the neighbours have blooms in their yards, but all we’ve got is leaves up to now. I figure it’ll be a week before I can start gloating about those.

The Boy is BBQing up some chicken wings for din-din, and I’m making a lovely salad with beets, apple and fennel. Envy me! Nom nom nom.

Looks like you got lots done, FCM! I didn’t get too much done, unfortunately. Art museum was very nice - very cool arrangements. I’ll upload a few pics after a bit.

I’ve put away some newspapers and am now going to do some filing and shredding. Envy my exciting life.

GT

I am jealous! I want a lilac or 10! The only ones I saw at Lowe’s were small and $25 - not bloody likely! I’ll try some of the local garden centers. They’re all blooming like crazy around here, and so far I’ve resisted the temptation to pull over in some stranger’s yard and bury my face in the blossoms.

Maybe next year…

<nose in air> I wouldn’t deign to stamp my foot at someone who puts garlic in baked beans. God, the beans are bad enough, but to add garlic to them is beyond the pale.

I have Word open as I type here and I am MULLING over my topic. This requires thought, chocolate covered peanuts and time on Facebook and here. It does.

Who’s up for Monday? I can do Monday, if no one else is. Just a thought…

No one is signed up for Monday yet…so, I believe you’re the lucky winner, rigs!!! Yay!!!

::Flings confetti in celebration::

Yes…I’m procrastinating, why do you ask?

Ok, will do Monday. (I have an idea…heheh)
I’m going for a walk. I read two more articles and rearranged the first paragraph of my paper. And I cleaned another bathroom and cut some daffodils for display in the DR. I need exercise. I can feel the paper gelling…

Oi, just crawled out of bed a few minutes ago. Today was the first day this week I’ve had time to sleep for more than a couple of hours at a stretch. I feel human again! I’m going to caffeinate for a few minutes and than I’ve got to clean my bedroom. I’m not doing any schoolwork this weekend on account of I’ve got Monday off school, and no work til the end of the semester. I can spend the entirety of next week at the library getting caught up.

Tomorrow I’ve got to head over to the storage unit and get rid of a bunch of stuff. I’ve already promised my aunt she can have most of my furniture - including the black couch that was given to me by an ex-girlfriend and my dusty pink la-z-boy. I’m really not happy about giving up the la-z-boy, but I’m not hauling that thing to Nashville. Maybe after I’ve found an apartment and settled in I’ll ask my aunty if I can have it back. I’ve also got to go through and get rid of a bunch of books. I think I have 11 boxes of books in the storage unit, which is also too many to move. When I first packed everything up to put in the storage unit I got rid of four boxes of books, which was really difficult for me to do. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to weed out my collection any more, but I’m going to do it. I’m going to ruthless. Utterly without ruth of any sort. I’m imagining that my philosophy books are going to comprise the majority of what gets chucked, because I really don’t read all that much philosophy anymore. I like having them around for reference, but I know I could easily live without them. Probably. I’ll keep telling myself that. The math books have also got to go. I’m not a math major anymore, there’s no reason to hang onto them, except to torture myself.

I’m really jealous of everyone who got to spend the day gardening. A couple of the condos on one of my routes have really pretty garden courtyards and I love walking through them every night. The rose trees, lilies and hibiscus have been blooming for a couple of weeks now, and I’m going to miss seeing the magnolias bloom this year. Oh well.

Despite the warning, I am totally intrigued by the “bad acid trip of Harlequin and chick lit” comment. I will resist. I’m supposed to be getting rid of books, not finding new ones that will potentially make me dumber.

FCM, your gardening efforts look superb! I agree about the lilacs–they’re one of my favorite bloomers yet you don’t see too many in this area; they love cold winters, btw, and this is a bit on the southern edge for them. Growing up in Michigan, there were -lots- of lilacs and they usually bloomed in May.

Swampy, sounds like you all had a great convocation, yay! Wish I’d had a taste of the brisket and beans, because I know they were good.

Very cute top, Haze, and I’ll bet the others are just as cute on you. Hah, I too am pointedly ignoring your admission of naughtiness … for the same reason as Rigs!

Thanks for the continued thoughts and prayers for my brother; the latest info is that he is in a alcohol rehab program – not at the VA hospital but another hospital that is known for doing a good rehab program. I pray that he’ll take this chance. We are being supportive of him. Again, thanks.

Good luck, Spice Boy (my nick for tarragon’s wayward bro).

Spaz–check it out of the library instead of spending money on it. I did not spend any money on it; the one fact that lets me sleep at night. Unfortunately, my powers of description do the book too much credit. It’s not quite an acid trip, it’s more like a bad drunk. And ANY author who refers to “her velvet and his leather” has listened to too much Stevie Nicks in her lifetime. I hate to (no I don’t) razz on someone’s appearance, but the pic the author chose to have on the back of her books is hysterical–and not in a good way. hereyago

Now, I realize the pic is old, and she has nicer pics out there now, but come on–at some point in time, this woman thought this pic showed her best, most marketable side. This is scary and funny as hell. Love the scarf, dahling. I will say this: while still crap, the other book I read by her, entitled, I forget what it’s titled so never mind, was not as bad as the Breathing Room one. It was fluff, sure, but fun fluff with some good sex scenes in it. Chick lit with a hard on. This one was execrable.

I gave up on the Paper. I read another article and added it to the bib and made a few notes. I’m just not feeling the love tonight. Plus, I wanna watch some bad TV and maybe finish my book.

I missed the last couple days so I got a lot of pages to read here…
Last night had a lot of gamers here and I had some friends here, too. Pretty good friday night. I made a mess o’ hotwings that went over really well.

Tonight: Karoke at the dive-y-est bar in Rogers Park.

I stopped by my folks to pick up my grill that I had left there last summer and to see my (former) foster brother who is there for the weekend. He seems to be doing great. There’s a Trader Joe’s near them so I stopped in to burn a couple bucks off an xmas gift card. It turned into $44… I got some good stuff, though.

Hey everyone! I have been a busy bear along with FCM and…everyone else! (yeah swampy, I’s a bear too, after living with them, and tattooing myself with a bear related tat I have earned the right to call myself a bear. I’s a female bear though, so it’s all good, right?)

A small confession, I am taking a new med, and it’s making me a bit befuddled, so please allow for the great yawning gaps in my memory. Plus I have to keep going back and adding r’s where the stupid r key failed to put them…I gotta get a new keyboard!

Anyway, I cleaned out two hampers full of stuff. Some of it was kept, most was junked. And I’d better not find skiffman going though the trash and pulling anything back out! I do have a dilemma though, at what point do you decide that the treasures which your children have made for you with their own hands over the years are just too many dust catchers, and then, what do you do with them? I have tossed a lot of drawings/paintings which have become the worse for the wear they have received though the years and moves, but all three of my girls have taken a lot of art classes, and I have their ceramic treasures, such as two bears, one with chipped off ears, and another with a broken arm, I found the arm, but the claws are missing. There are three other pieces of ceramics within my view right now…I have too much stuff, but some of it I just can’t bear to part with. sigh Geez, I get all teary when I look at them and remember my babies before they got all grown up…getting old kinda sucks. Maybe I’m just being hormonal, but I miss my babies. Part of it is listening to you, FCM, with all your plans for your baby’s graduation and wedding. (Take a lot of tissues with you!) I need to go to Anchorage and hug my grown up babies and play with the new babies, and I need to go soon. (insert teary but smiling smilie here)

I am glad that y’all enjoyed my recipes, I had fun putting them together for you. They aren’t written down recipes, they are in my head…kind of a dangerous place to store things any more! swampy the vegetables in the perok recipe are completely variable. If’n you don’t like rutabagas (one of the few reliable crops on Kodiak) just use more carrots instead. The taste really mingles with the cabbage and onions, the first time I ate perok I thought the rutabaga was some strange cheese which didn’t melt! Some people don’t use salmon, they put in halibut or cod, and some people put canned corned beef instead of fish, and some use cooked ground game meat and gravy. Salmon is traditional, and my favorite.

Your food fest sounds like it was fun bear! It sounds like you have a lot of fun times, and it’s warm there where you are. I may have to bust in on you someday!

herbs your family and especially your brother are in my prayers. I have two wayward brothers, so I know what y’all are going through. I hope that your bro gets his act together and begins to enjoy real life. (((herbs)))

FCM your yard pictures are very nice. I am so jealous of you and everyone else who are into spring. I have a little bit of grass beginning to green up, but nothing flowering, or even close. I heard that there are daffodils up at the Fish and Game building, but they are downtown (lol!) and it’s in a warm bit of a micro climate there. Oh, and you live in a brick house! I am totally jealous, I have always wanted to live in a brick house.

Cute top Haze! I can’t wear coral or peach, but there are pinks I am able to wear, they just have to be bluey pink. I’m glad you had a good birthday, I hope it carries on for the rest of your year.

Well, I need to sift through the rest of my treasures and trinkets and try to find a place for everything. I am home alone, as #3 daughter has gone off to babysit and skiffman has yet to return from boat work. I may need to ingest some alcohol tonight. Not a lot, just a beer or two to help settle my day down. All there is in the fridge is Coors Light, so I can promise that there won’t be more than one or two drunk, it’s definitely not my favorite! Have fun kids, and I’ll probably peek in later.

Ta!

I’m peeved. I’ve done enough work today to feel virtuous, and I’d really like to crawl in bed and watch some bad TV. But I swear, even with 800 channels, there’s not a damn thing on. Except the movie Dante’s Peak dubbed in Spanish. Which is becoming increasingly tempting, compared with the rest of the vast wasteland.

If you plant lilacs, I will visit you faithfully when they bloom, FCM. I adore lilacs; they’re my favorite flower. Unfortunately, I’ve lived in points south (Texas, SoCal, Georgia, Louisiana, etc.) for 25 years, so have never been able to have them. And they’re definitely borderline here; I see them occasionally, but they’re just not big and lush like they are further north. But hey, if you can get them to grow, I’ll come steal your blossoms any time!

Morning all. Well, today was supposed to be my first day at my new job, but the lead lawyer in the office called to tell me he is on a business trip and, as there are only two of us lawyers total, there was no point me going in and sitting around like a tool on my own today, so I get another day off! So, I have a day of window-shopping planned!

HRH was supposed to start swimming lessons today, but I think that will now have to wait until the next intake, as Madam has a head-cold! Poor little thing, she sneezed this morning and ended up with snot ropes from her nose halfway down her shirt! I think the humidifier in her room last night helped loosen all the crud!

Hey kai! I’ve been thinking of you, wondering how your Kodiak spring is shaping up! Our spring is a bit of a bust, since we generally only have two seasons here - hot and not-so-hot. The flowers tend to bloom in “winter”, which is also top-down-on-the-convertible weather. It’s now back to hot weather again, with temperatures in the mid-30s (low 90s Murrkin) and it will only get hotter, although the afternoons are still quite bearable. The last couple of days have been really blargh though, with really bad dust/sand-storms (see here), which may explain why HRH’s head is so congested. Even with all the doors and windows shut, the dust just seeps in everywhere! Anyway, here is a cheeky smile to brighten your evening!

{{{tarra}}} I hope your bro’ will be okay!

rigs, that pic of the author sure is a late '80s kind of pose! Reminds me of one of my mother’s sisters!

I have a lot (sorta) to catch folks up on, but I won’t now. It’s sorta late and I’m going up to read.

And, yeah, probably engage in some marital activity…
