Why would your father’s AMEX debt be yours? I thought debt doesn’t work that way?
I went to try and buy Sense and Sensibility but the store didn’t have it so I ended up buying far too many other movies instead (like a really cheesy western that is put out by… cheesy productions… it’s based on the CW McCall song Convoy and stars Kris Kristofferson…)
Supper tonight will be leftovers. We have stirfry, chili, and shake n bake. I’m working my way up to making the cinnamon buns…
I also bought myself a boquet of flowers when I went out today. I need it, to counteract all the gloom and snow.
Supper was some soup I pulled out of the freezer, served with Ritz crackers. The rest of the soup will be my lunch tomorrow. Total lack of chocolate, though.
Still rainy. My gardens are happy. I’m in the robe mode. I’m done for the day. The dishwasher is running and amazingly, the kitchen is pretty clean. Except for the burnt meatballs, it was a good day.
Well, you thoroughly and totally confused me, but I guess that doesn’t count.
(And now you’ve also made me crave baked beans. And since KFC doesn’t serve them anymore, I don’t know where to get any. The canned ones just don’t cut it. Curses, I say!)
(And just for that, I’m bolding ME! Hah!) CP, hugs out to you. Even vaguely, your story doesn’t sound too good.
♫ Cause we’ve got a great big convoy
Rockin’ through the night.
Yeah, we got a great big convoy,
Ain’t she a beautiful sight?♫
Convoy ranks right up there with Smokey and the Bandit as one of the greatest trucking movies of the seventies. Maybe even one of the greatest trucking movies of all time. I haven’t seen it in years, but I’m pretty sure it’s buried in my Netflix queue somewhere. I remember it being a lot better than it looks/sounds based on the description.
You could always doctor up some canned beans, Roo. We always used to add ketchup and a touch of mustard and…I don’t remember what else. Yum. I think the brand you buy also makes a difference. We always used to buy B&M, which is a pretty rare brand, but always tastes better to me than the other brands.
Lilacs…that’s what I was going to comment on. I have two and want several more. One was here when I bought the house; I bought the other one about two years after I moved in. It’s about to bloom right now. It’s a darker one and has a nice, tall, thin shape. The other one is smaller (I think it might be a dwarf Korean lilac). It blooms much later (late May/early June). I want to get some that will bloom in the middle and be different colors (the late bloomer is almost pink). Lilacs are one of my favorite things about the Michigan State campus (or used to be, because they’ve built stuff where my favorites were planted).
Dinner was yum…salmon, rice, salad, wine…what more could I want? (I just had some chocolate because **FCM **mentioned it.
I’m going to the Cincinnati Flower Show in the morning, so I guess I should make sure I have everything. And put out the recycling. And put away laundry. And then I think I’ll veg for a while, although not too long, because I need to be out the door by 6:45 in the morning.
Ya drain a couple cans of baked beans (I don’t like the juice in canned baked beans), chop up a little onion, bell pepper and garlic, fry up a few strips of bacon, saute the veggies after you fry the bacon, chop up the bacon and throw the veggies and bacon in the beans, add a little ketchup, mustard, molasses, brown sugar, whatever to it all and let it just hang out over low heat, stirring occasionally for a bit. It ain’t really cookin’. Heck, you can load it up in an ovenproof casserole dish and let it do it’s thing in the oven at 325 Amurrkin for thirty to forty-five minutes and ya got tasty beans Heff & Roo. Nuttin’ to it.
I had a grilled cheese sammich and some mater soup for supper. I like dippin’ my grilled cheese in the soup. Makes me feel all kid like.
Oh and the reason I bolded nappy was so that rigs wouldn’t think I was havin’ myself a happy poo, though that can be nice too.
Speakin’ of which, rigs, young lady, you get that paper done tomorrow. You hear me? I mean it. Don’t make that face at me! Now, get out of that crawlspace and get busy!
Hi all! Did we have a good week? I hope so. doles out hugs as needed
I played in my company’s annual golf tournament today. We came in 4th place out of 12 teams. I only play once a year, and some of the guys were saying that I must have been practicing because I was crushing them down the fairway. Nope, haven’t picked them up since last year, but Thanks! I won a gift certificate to Fuddruckers. Woooo!
**LabRat ** wants to meet my Mom! This is a Very Big Deal. Pretty much the whole reason he broke things off last year was because I had asked him to meet my Mom. (He freaked out that things were moving too fast.) I told him that we would wait till I got back from Vegas. He’s also ready for nookie, but is having some hip issues. I’m not in a big hurry. I know as soon as I’m intimate with him again, I’ll have to admit to myself that I am absolutely in lub. He even volunteered to keep my doggies while I go to Vegas for 5 days!
Rusty actually did quite well. He got upset when it started thundering, so we gave him some Good Drugs and he settled right down. Even ate a small supper! He’s handling storms much better these days, which is probably because they only happen about two months out of the year instead of ten. Makes a difference, that.
Dinner was the caldereta that had been simmering away all day. I found out the difference between caldereta and a beef stew, which it closely resembles: tamarind. The addition of the tamarind flavoring makes it taste about a thousand times better. Yum! I refrained from being a total piglet and eating a second helping, even though I could hear a lot of oinking in my head. But we’ve got some good leftovers, which makes everyone happy. Except the Idiots – no wasting good caldereta on dogs!
There are very few kinds of beans I like. Unfortunately, that list consists of basically all the kinds of beans that Papa Tigs doesn’t like. We are 100% bean incompatible. I know, tragic, isn’t it?
Back to work. I’m on the homestretch on this one. Then I’ll finally be all caught up and back on schedule. It’s about fricken’ time!
Many years ago my when my dad and I worked at the same place he had an AMEX platinum card. Because we worked together he added me as an authorized user so that I could buy lunches for the shop, office supplies, etc.
When he quit paying his bills, AMEX started sending letters to him and they also had my name on it. Eventually they took him to court (actually, me too). When we were served with notice that a trial was going to take place, the notice of service disappeared before I ever saw it. I didn’t know about the judgement against me until it was over and done with and appeared on my credit report.
What I don’t understand and neither does my father is how they could attach it to my credit when issuing the card to me in the first place was not based on checking my credit. For instance, I have a Discover card and several of my employees are authorized users on it, but they didn’t even have to give their social security numbers. So how in the heck did I end up in this situation??? And how can I get out?
To counteract that abomination disguised as chicken teriyaki, here’s a real chicken recipe.
1 whole chicken
salt
pepper
2-3 carrots
1 large onion or some shallots
fresh sage and rosemary
oil
probe thermometer
Remove the chicken guts and make gravy or something, or toss 'em, whatever. Rinse the chicken. Rub the cavity with salt and pepper. Chop the vegetables into largish pieces and cram them in there, followed with the herbs. Rub the skin with oil, and some more salt and pepper. Bake at 425 F for 1 to 1-1/2 hours, or until the breast temperature reads 170. Turn off oven and open door slightly until temperature coasts up to 180. Chow down.
Hmm. Ingredients, chopping, frying, sauteeing, baking. . . which part of that doesn’t seem like cooking to you?! Heck, you passed me by with opening the cans!
At one time, I had great aspirations of being a great cook. Where did they go? I used to make a mean loaf of bread from the bread machine though. Even that has gone by the wayside lately. My breadmachine went out of commission a while ago. New breadmachine. . . that’s the answer! I’ll be cooking in no time! :dubious:
Ah OK. . . definitely don’t want to mix those up. . . or do them simultaneously. . . cause that could be big trouble.
I was skimming the MMP and saw that FCM had posted a recipe. I opened it and bookmarked it automatically without really reading it. Then I reopened the link a little while ago in search of something for dinner.
I see this all too often. As an authorized user, the account is reported to the credit bureau for all names on the account. I know it doesn’t make a whole bunch of sense, but that’s what happens. As the cardholder, you are affecting all other authorized user’s credit history, either positively or negatively, whichever the case may be. I’ve had to tell people they can’t purchase their new car because they are an authorized user on an account that was charged off.
Yes, but, I certainly wouldn’t have had good enough credit to get my own Platinum AMEX card. They didn’t check my credit to begin with. Why should it affect me now?
I know what you’re saying, as it’s already happened, but it still doesn’t make any sense since nobody asked me my permission to check my credit to get this card in the first place.
Work went OK. Somebody got arrested outside the store. Signs you are a hard core Doper: I was stocking gum and candy, and grabbed a box of Chicklets. It’s made by Cadbury-Adams. I misread it as Cecil Adams, and almost genuflected to the box.
True, but A) just TRY to find an affordable laptop with non-shared memory, just go ahead… I’ll wait, take your time… find one yet? No? Stomp on those crickets, willya? Okay, moving on–B) It’s a big improvement over my previous graphics chipset and is using a lot more memory, but then again–C) I have a lot more memory to use on this laptop (twice the RAM, in fact) and I still have a whole 'nother slot for memory if I wanna use it–the lappie takes up to 3GB. Quite frankly, the graphics on this thing are complete overkill for what I do–I don’t play high end games, I’m planning on going to a lower overhead OS, and I use the K-Lite codec pack along with Media Player Classic for pretty much all my media needs which is ever so much easier on the system than the WinBloze alternative. Taking advantage of the dual proc and doubled up bus by running a 64bit OS makes a huge difference in performance, I’ve noticed. All in all, this is a definite upgrade all 'round from my other lappie.
I really like the screen on this one, very bright and easy on the eyes–yeah, I’m using it right now. I’m trying out Vista to see if I like any of the bells and whistles, since the SO has a strap on pack for XP64 that gives you most of the Vista neat stuff without the bloat and overhead. He thinks I oughta stick with Vista, but I just don’t want the OS taking up that much room–it is frakkin’ HUGE! I have a pr0n collection that needs a home, man! Besides, I’m already really hatin’ on the endless “are you SURE you wanna run that program you just clicked on?” and “oh no, you have to run that as an administrator, even though there’s only one ADMINISTRATOR PRIV profile on the box” and “hey, you don’t REALLY wanna look at the Device Manager or Add/Remove programs do you? Them is SCARY, BOOOO, WOOO, VERY SCARY GO AWAY!!!” <–Me getting a Vista headache
Hmmm… so there are two movies duking it out for supremacy in a really small and cheesy category? Let’s all Google “dubious distinction,” shall we? Heh heh…
