Back later.

Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here prior to work purtification. 'Tis cold! I had to actually  turn the heat on for a bit to take the chill off da cave. In April yet! Oh well, 'tis supposed to warm up through the rest of the week.
Muppet, it’s been a runnin’ joke sorta that I consider two of the main food groups to be beer and cookies. A couple years ago, Bobbio was postin’ and typed beer and cockies. Bein’ the true juveniles we mumpers are, it’s been “beer and cockies” ever since. So, I guess it’s now a tradition? Plus it’s funny!
Congrats on the son’s engagement Smartie. Hope you’re face is all better soon.
Yays, boos, hugs, etc as needed.
Later Y’all!
Mornin’.
Dog left another present on the bedroom floor this morning. Did I mention I vacuumed on Sunday?
Off to work the 14 hour day. Let’s see how many people are spying on me on the night shift. Little do they know (until they ask me later today) that Reference Work is only getting 10 hours of my time in the summer. That ought to settle their budgetary hand-wringing.
I’m not unreasonable. It can be had for the right price. Mooooom gets all that chocolate, so I should get something, too. I’m tired of all the damned squid.
Hmmm… The Swedish Bikini Team should do the trick.
Mornin’, y’all. The last of my taxen went in the mail last night. Had a bust of a training session with the fire department, when the aerial truck wouldn’t generate enough pressure to run the hydraulics. Loki was sick yesterday, but Mrs. Hyde finally reverted to being VWife once again.
Life sucks, so I’m going to breakfast.
Morning, Mumpers. Vertical, caffeinating and off to work.
Good morning everyone!
Just got home from work and finished breakfast - Morningstar fake chicken nuggets doused with as much wing sauce and hot sauce as I can stand. It made one of my housemates feel a little ill watching me eat that so early in the morning, so I feel like I’ve already accomplished something for the day.
Going to try to nap for a couple of hours before heading off to school. I have to go in early today because the College of Arts and Letters is having their awards ceremony this afternoon and I’ve been told that I absolutely have to attend. There’s like four more of these damn ceremonies before the end of the semester - I haven’t even gone to one yet and I’m already sick of them. Oh well.
Wide Sargasso Sea isn’t my favorite Jean Rhys book either. It’s a shame that it gets all the attention, because Voyage in the Dark and Quartet are much better reads.

hi
bye
mmmmmmmmmmmmooz
Wow, another Torontonian! That makes, err, two of us! Well, three- Sunspace occasionally posts to the MMP, too. Supposed to be 13C today. I epxect you to wear shorts and a tank top.
Morning, everyone.
Just reading this makes me feel queasy! I’m not a huge fan of Wide Sargasso Sea either; felt like it didn’t do justice to Rochester or Bertha. The movie was ridiculous. I remember the video store I rented it from had it stashed in the porn section, for some reason.
Don’t wanna teach. Bleh.
I think I typed Wild instead of Wide. Oh, well–it would have been better if it HAD been wild, so there.
Aleq-may I be as cool as you as a MIL. And perhaps you should go to the dentist? Just a thought. I am going to mine now for a crown. Know why they’re called crowns? Because they cost a kingdom.
Look–I made a joke!
And after the dentist, on this glorious April day that I could spend happily digging in the mud and mulch, I have to GO TO THE LIBRARY FOR MY LAST DAY THERE. And since I did no work at home yesterday on this, I now have to stay late there and get it done.
Dotty--it’s not shingles. It’s weird bumpy rash that itches on and off, does not weep, does not spread rapidly, but also does not go away.
Oh, yeah- it’s Nat’s birthday today. He’s three months old. He doesn’t seem excited about it.
[Not a joke or insult]Could it be a fungus-caused rash? I’m prone to getting Jock Itch From Hell, and on occasion it will spread to other parts of my bod, always at a joint. Right after New Years, it settled in at the insides of my elbows. Red, itchy, bumpy, and no seepage.
Industrial strength Cruex fought a hard battle, but eventually conquered it.[/NAJOI]
Happy three month birthday to TNC!
Morning, all. Apparently I’m not functioning too well this morning. Thus far, everything I’ve needed to do I’ve had to tell myself at least four times before it sinks in far enough to remember to actually do it. I’m talking simple things like turning the heat up to take the chill off the house (although, knock wood, it should get warm enough to open up later, I hope I hope!). I walked past that stoopid thermostat at least four times before I finally remembered to actually stop there. :smack: I’m not sure there’s enough caffeine in the world for me today, if this is my state of mental [del]non[/del]acuity. Sigh.
Anyway, since I’ve already forgotten everything else I was going to say to everyone else, yays, hugs, boos, etc. as appropriate. Later, gators!
Happy birthday, Nat!
I hope your tooth feels better soon, Smartie! (Go to the dentist!!!)
Well, I got screwed at lunch yesterday. Literally!
Nah, get your minds of the gutter.
On the way to lunch with co-workers, I heard a weird sound coming from the rear of my car. Turns out I had a flat! My tire had picked up a screw from somewhere. How handy that I was only 4 blocks away from a Firestone, right in the same parking lot as the restaurant! They fixed it while I had lunch. Easiest flat I ever had.
I had tons more to say, but I forgot. It must be lack of sleep. In the middle of the night, I almost stepped in a gift from Ernie. Poor baby’s been a bit sick lately. He pooped in the bathroom night before last, too. After cleaning it up, I was awake from 2:45 to about 3:45 - then hubby’s alarm went off at 4:00. I dozed until 4:30 when my alarm went off.
Later.
LiLi, I’m not allowed to wear shorts to work. Hmph. I suppose I should just be grateful that I don’t have to conform to the draconian standards of the call centre any more, though… I sometimes waltz through in a skirt that’s gasp above the knee from time to time, just to spite them.
I am wearing a tank top, though.
Happy monthday to TNC! YAY!
SmartyPants, congratumalations on the impending nuptials. Just think, soon enough you’ll be able to move on to bugging your son into providing grandkids.
swampy, thanks for the clarification. And here I was thinking I was all clever and stuff for catching the Freudian slip. Late to the party, as always.
It’s gorgeous outside. I don’t wanna be inside… I wanna be outside, puttering around in my garden and attempting to tan my pasty white legs (well, as pasty-white as a gal of Luso-Canadian extraction can get, which is more like a light beige)
Also, I’m slightly annoyed because I’ve just discovered that they booked me on a 7am flight to Montreal this Friday, which means my sorry ass has to be out of bed in time to take a cab to the airport at 5:30am and I’ll have to find a way to stay perky for an 11am to 1pm presentation before flying back at 4pm.
Kill me. Kill me now. Don’t they know that I don’t DO mornings?
Woot! I got to leave after an hour of Reference Work!
I got some canned pumpkin for Zeldadog. I had to smear it on her nose to show her that yes, it is edible. I dumped it in her bowl with the rest of her food and she gets nothing else today until she eats it.
Work sucks today in a continuation of yesterday’s problems.  <chants to self> a week and half left on this contract, a week and a half left, a week and a half left </cts>
In brighter work news, I have an interview tomorrow for a new contract.
Yay!
Also, Boston Dope fest tonight!
Went to the dentist yesterday. It’s been awhile. (No insurance + very poor = no dentist) As a result, my teeth have need quite a bit of work; that’s not really a suprise though. I’ve always had problems with my teeth–it’s genetic on my Dad’s side of the family. I also had a bad experience about my insurance. Aparently it only covers up to $500 per year for dental.
I pay more than that for it!!! (I pay pre-tax, but still.) Ugh.
After looking for a vacuum for quite awhile, I finally ordered one from Amazon, so that it would be delivered straight to my door, and neither Hawkeyeop or I would have to carry it. It had about 600 great reviews and 25 bad ones. I thought that was a damn good ratio. I mean some people just don’t like anything and will complain about everything. Well, the 25 were right. It didn’t work. Instead of sucking up the icky stuff on/in the carpet, it just blew it around in the air. I couldn’t go into the bedroom for an hour because I couldn’t breathe with all that stuff churned up.
 Ugh. So, yesterday after the dentist, Hawkeye took apart the vacuum, packed it up and carried it to the post office from our house. Major kudos go to him for all of that. Anyway, we took it to the post office, and it is now on its way back to Amazon. Hopefull they will reimburse us soon. Ugh. I am once again looking for a vacuum.
So, what vacuum would you recommend, Mumpers?
Well, it’s almost time to head to the library over lunch.
Good luck with the interview, mmousie! And happy Three Months to tinyninjachef!
I have a shitload of grading to do, but I don’t care - I’m going to the art museum.
Good luck with the interview Mousie! As far as a vacuum, I got a Dirt Devil on clearance at Target after Christmas last year. I paid a whopping $12.48 for it and LOVE it. It’s very basic, nothing fancy, but it does the job. Then again we don’t have much carpet in the house and no pets. I figure at that price, if it lasted a year, I’d be happy. It also does wonders on picking up all the crappy remodeling dust. If you are looking for a higher end vacuum, I’ve heard very good things on the Dyson.
Happy 3 month Birthday Nat!
I’m off to work again. At least it’s only 5 hours today.
I honestly believe that the phone calls here are like women and bathrooms: They all arrive in groups, sometimes large ones.
Heff&Roo - It’s not a whole heap o’ money, at the moment maybe a grand-plus a month, but it definitely keeps the board self-sufficient and even helps cover some other costs related to the blog as well. (I’m planning on starting a sister blog for which I’m going to need some hardware to blog about, so that’s going to help buy it for me. :D) The main concern though is that the blog stays afloat on its own and our hosting fees and such are covered.
SmartAleq - I’d be happy to get whatever you need, but I think there might be some customs and/or FDA regulations getting involved here with regards to the AC&C tablets. Acetaminophen and caffeine are no problem, but codeine is a Schedule II narcotic here and in the US, but since this isn’t something I’ve had experience shipping, I dunno what that does to how or if it can cross the border. Dequadin probably wouldn’t be a problem though, that’s just dequalinium hydrochloride, but I’ll have to special order it (which I have to do for myself anyway). Usually only takes 2-4 days to get it in though.
Dotty - Why thankya! I’m making an effort to participate more here. I really didn’t consider how much time the damn blog takes up, but there it is and now I’m stuck with it. But I like it. Tech blogging is fun for an opinionated, sarcastic nerd like me.
gt - waves back
Hank - The glasses make you look smart, and smart is sexy. So is bumping and grinding with a Scottish lass. Giggety!
Must go now, finish lunch and get back to the grind.
