Let's all have a better week in the MMP

Dummy of the decade sounds more like it. Surprisingly enough, things are still quiet today. I’m guessing nobody else wants to be called out for saying mean things. If someone wants to post that Biden is a poopiehead, that is acceptable because it’s not really mean. If they want to call him a fucking asshole and all of his supports are idiots, well that is mean and I will shut it down right away.

I’ve just never told anyone that three of us voted to pull their post because it was so horrible nobody thought it would be out there in a family forum. I’ll have to remember this for future blow-ups.

Geeze louise, that’s terrible. Can you prop yourself up in bed so you are reclined rather than laying flat so the crud clogs up your throat and sinuses?

Fingers crossed for a good outcome. And that the itching stops soon.

Weren’t those birds seagulls?

I like crows and ravens a bunch. I think grackles are super entertaining but I sure don’t want them hanging out around here.

Here’s hoping for lots of money for you shortly

That is actually why I agreed to be a mod. I figured that being responsible for keeping order would force me to moderate my comments when I started to get out of line. It’s helpful that we are out-west and rural enough that most people don’t understand what I mean when I say “Bless your heart”.

Poor lil Higgs. I agree that the labs owner needs to be involved with this.

One of the main reasons we don’t have a dog is because they are such hard work and need constant socialization. When we had a dog, we made her do “tricks” all the time just to remind her how she should act. I still didn’t trust her around elderly people because she leaned on people when she was getting pettings and she didn’t understand how easy is for a large 90 lb dog to knock someone off balance.

She heard SIT so often when we met an elderly person on our walks that she started to just sit on her own when she saw one.

Today GG learned that there is a super secret kitty underpass between the loveseat and wall. VBC likes to get back there and tag him when he walks by and he never seemed to understand where she came from. He figured it out today and has spent most of the day laying behind the loveseat with his head sticking out so he can watch down the hall and maybe tag VBC unawares.

Always nice to hear about a few more of his brain cells activating.

Maybe by this time next year, he will figure out that she can see his big ol’ head sticking out into the hall!

He doesn’t need to be smart when he’s this entertaining

Breakfast is the only meal that Bailey always wants to eat: up until a couple months ago, she always had to sit before I gave it to her. Every morning, for 14 years. I stopped making her “earn” her breakfast after discovering her hip arthritis: it’s gotten harder for her to sit on a tile floor, and at this point I figure she’s earned some “free” meals. Every now and then I’ll ask her to sit — or shake — just so she doesn’t forget how, but these days she doesn’t have to work for much.

Mrs. L.A. had some leftover orange chicken and brown rice from the Thai place. I had the rest of my tom kha gai (with the broccoli The Missus didn’t want mixed in) and a cheeseburger on low-carb bread.

I found a recipe for tom kha gai. I don’t have coconut oil or coconut sugar, but I’m sure I can find some. I’ll have to give it a try. This is my favourite soup. Unfortunately, I’ll have to make it ‘zero stars’; but I have plenty of Asian chile powder.

Wifey is making 85% dark chocolate truffles with turmeric liqueur. I don’t know what else is in them, so I’ll probably only have one.

I was thinking of this scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBlb9hKFbck

JtC, love GG’s finding a new hangout. The question is, will he remember it tomorrow? And I understand about the socialization of dogs; one reason I don’t own one despite loving them is that I don’t think I could do a good job on the socialization bit…there are those who would insist I’m not all that well socialized (and they may be right).

Sari, glad you’re getting things out of your system. Barky’s mom is probably so used to it that she really doesn’t see a problem; more’s the pity. And hope the new collar curbs Cerby’s barking.

FCM, hope the effort to make the yard Lab-proof is successful. And thanks for the movie review. Think I’ll wait for Wakanda Forever, being a sucker for the Marvel Universe.

VanGo, fingers re-crossed that this estimate bears fruit.

Cookie, sounds like the resident may need more intensive caring soon; hope the deodorizer works.

OK, have refereed twice and snacked several times, so tomorrow I will have my Sunday dinner at Texas Roadhouse (or at least that’s the plan right now). Cold (about 55F) and rainy during the games, but the kids played well and everyone seemed to enjoy things. Opened up the candy packages and put them in the bowl thinking it might be tonight the T-n-T’ers came, I was wrong of course and now must resist the temptation of snacking.

All y’all take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

Was that always in color? We had a black and white TV when I was young, but I thought we had a color TV by the mid 60’s?

I’ve only watched The Birds once because it creeped me out so much the first time. I had no issue with the Triffids, but War of the Worlds gave me nightmares for weeks.

The main reason I remember the seagulls is because Mom and Dad lived in Half Moon Bay when that was being filmed and dad told us kids about how the crew had to run out and hide food for the seagulls to find then run away really fast so they could film really fast before the gulls ate everything and flew off. I guess seagulls are about as smart as GG.

He did spend the entire day back there and we gave him scritchings every time we walked by so it is possible that he might remember. It is also very possible that he will forget and VBC will have another 6 months of a detection free tagging hidyhole.

Well trained dogs are such a joy to be around. Poorly socialized dogs is the main reason some people don’t like dogs. It’s a shame for people and dogs because all dogs want to be very good dogs, but it’s up to their people to show them how.

One of the things I really, REALLY hate about Nextdoor is their constantly changing rules and the loads of searching I need to do at times.

Someone just posted a Trump is a Poopiehead post that was so well written and entertaining that I want to share it with you guys because it is truly worthy of the Dope. No obscenity, no death wishes, just very clever mocking.

I’m going to enjoy defending this one while flagging all of the rude and mean replies. Nextdoor is a family forum, if you wouldn’t read your post out loud to your 12 year old child, your boss or your 75 year old mother, it shouldn’t be in my neighborhood.

I cleaned, I napped. It was nice enough that I had the windows open all afternoon. Panthers blew it. Packers are not good. I’m having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned to deal with this.

I love this rule. Preach it, sistah!

May I suggest going somewhere less … drama filled?

Heh. You said “doody.”

I don’t just preach it, I enforce it! When I became head lead, I asked the SD mods where they got their jackboots and bought a pair for myself, LOL!

(What actually happens is that I will flag a post and then text the three leads I recruited with a quick run down. If two of them get there before any of the leads we don’t like, too bad, too late nothing can be done, our decision is final. Don’t put me in charge unless you mean it!)

I just quietly slipped back in to try and catch up. I have been fly fishing in NW Arkansas for the last four days. Web access was pretty spotty.

When I finally got home I was craving simplicity: A fried egg sandwich with cheese on rye toast and a glass of cold milk. Tomorrow I will put all of my gear away, but tonight is to just decompress.

A lot of fish were caught, a lot of alcohol was drunk, some of the world’s problems were not really resolved and the Huskers choked again. I do not sleep well in a bag on a floor and I am really looking forward to a great night sleep in my own bed.

i miss camping and fishing …

Does a bear… :bear:

we’ll have to ask swampy … but I don’t think he’s in the woods much

I hope everyone has a better week!
