Let's create a Republican "Squad"

Four Republican House members whom those on the left would find every bit as, to coin a term, deplorable as the right finds the four female freshmen who are known collectively by that name. (They need not be freshmen.)
First nominee, Steve King of Iowa, for reasons too numerous to enumerate.

Take it away, dopers.

Devin Nunes, Kevin McCarthy, Matt Gaetz, Doug Collins, Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan, Louie Gohmert, John Ratcliffe.

We have to pick four?

A major advantage Rs have over the Dems is that their entire party is a squad. In that they all speak with a unified voice. (Unfortunately, that voice panders to bigotry, and idle worship of the rich)

But okay I’ll play: Mitch, Steve King, Ted Cruz, And Marsha Blackburn.

I have to admit, I love hating on Marsha. Hearing her speak with that southern draw about her fucked up policies make her seem like a TV villain.

Awkward, or Suicide?

You know they already did this, right? And the result was kind of pathetic.

Moscow Mitch, Cruz and Blackburn are senators, not House members.

Greg Gianforte, Liz Cheney, Steve King, Jimmy Jordan

ACK! The restraint required to keep that to just four.

There are no squads in the Republican party; just an army of berserkers.

I remember when Michele Bachmann, Louie Gohmert and Steve King travelled around the world spreading stupidity. Did that count?

The squad is more about what it represents to people.

The ‘squad’ fox news talks about is a bunch of leftist, feminist, brown skinned women with ethnic names and families with histories of immigration. They represent multiculturalism and the fact that the white, conservative, christian patriarchy is on the way out.

I’m guessing the squad the left finds deplorable would have to be the opposite. People who are so devoted to a white, christian patriarchy that they have no morals or intellectual integrity.

Steve King fits the bill pretty well.

You’re gonna need a platoon. At least.

The Republic platoon of buffoons and poltroons are some of the most corrupt, debased and immoral people ever seen in American politics, while the Democrat “Squad” embody the opposite values. I’d agree that both groups represent what each side most dislikes about the other side.

The Democrat “Squad” represent strong leftist values, while the Republican “Platoon” are the crack peddlers of Trumpism, which is a cross between a cult and an organized crime syndicate.

Wait wait wait…

According to my sources - a nineteen year old and fifteen year old girl, respectively - the whole ‘squad’ thing was popularized by Taylor Swift and refers exclusively to a bunch of GIRLS who get together and do things.

I have multiple squad apparently based in my home, God help me. I’d say ‘send Marines’ but I think they’d lose to these girls.

So to form a republican ‘squad’ you need to find five or six republican women who fit the bill.

Good luck with that.

Apropos of nothing in particular…

Paraphrasing Groucho: I don’t want to be in any squad that would have me as a member.

Do you not know why the “Squad” were called that? It’s not because they’re some particularly hateful bunch of ideologues.

The four are all freshmen, and they’re all supported by Justice Democrats. They represent the idea of getting new blood into Congress who think more like ideological Democratic Party voters & less like, well, Joe Biden or Steny Hoyer. They work together because they came in together with the same organization, & they do similar things.

(I’m not sure how similar they are in practice. I think at least one of them got a lot of interest from committee chairs because she said she wouldn’t do fundraising calls & had more time to give to committees; I don’t remember if that’s true of all of them.)

You misunderstand what they are when you just declare a bunch of loosely affiliated veteran Congresscritters to be the opposite number. If you had a small group of insurgent politicians who came into Congress backed by a particular organization, that would be similar.
