Let's devise a Big Bang Theory spinoff

Leonard’s mother. Christine Baranski sneering about other people for thirty minutes a week is something I’d watch.

I’m right there with you, Dendarii Dame. I’m a total Baranski fan-girl and I love her character on TBBT.

Like that idea. What I’d like even more would be if, through some concatenation of events, Leonard’s mother was forced to live with Sheldon’s mother. I’d happily listen to those two bickering for half an hour every week.

Problem is, I can’t think what circumstances would bring them together under the same roof. Anybody with a better imagination than mine want to weigh in with a way it could come about?

Soft Kitty.

I’m in favor of a Kripke/Stuart spin-off. Leonard’s mom is good in small doses, with the gang to play off of, but would be horrible as a lead character. Ditto Sheldon’s mom. Ditto Amy and Bernadette and Raj for that matter. Throw Zack into the mix and we have a winner (“Walking on sunshine, wooah…”)

I think that was the plot of the episode my kids watched the other day.

I thought we did this recently but the closest I could find was a general character spin-off thread that had some TBBT ideas.

Stuart In Hollywood*: As we all know, our beloved comic book store owner is also a talented artist. Ergo, he must have a pile of books he’s created over the years stashed somewhere. One series is discovered, gets published, gets popular, gets sold for TV rights. Hurray! But it is Stuart. The TV channel is a low rent SyFy knockoff. They hire him to adapt the stories into episodes. Things keep going wrong. The usual actors/director/producer types. Backstage shenanigans. Etc. Stuart would quit but he also likes to eat. (Always his Kryptonite.)

  • His comic book store, while seemingly in Pasadena (even named after it), as shown in the “Wheaton!” zoom out of The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary, is actually dead center in Hollywood. Right next to the hall where they sometimes have the Oscars. So he must have a lot of Hollywood types visiting his store, right?

“The Adventures of Captain Sweatpants!”

She is doing great as the most spoiled cat on the face of the planet.
(My cat is named Zazzles after that episode.)

TBBT: TNG. It’s all about the grown kids of Howard/Bernadette, Leonard/Penny, the Shamy, and of course Raj/Stuart. Lots of flashbacks to when they were kids, brought up by this odd assortment of couples. And a few of their grandparents as well.

I like that.

For that matter, what if Raj finally bows to the inevitable and comes out of the closet (maybe after meeting a new man who becomes his boyfriend). He’s disowned by his parents and ends up marrying his boyfriend and following him somewhere (Midwest? back East?) and taking a new job there. The other BBT regulars could have guest spots when they come to visit.

The boyfriend would have to be pretty charismatic and interesting, though, since IMO Raj isn’t quite enough to carry a series as a star on his own.

We saw Howard meet Elon Musk, and when Elon Musk heard he was a NASA engineer, they exchanged cards and Musk invited Howard to keep in touch. I’d like to see Howard join SpaceX or Tesla and maybe move to Silicon Valley and mix with other high-octane geeks. Bernadette would have her pick of many biopharmaceutical employers in the area. We could see some southern California/northern California culture clash (like my husband and I experienced when we moved to Silicon Valley), and they could lampoon the environment up here.

And it would give Sheldon another reason to be jealous of Howard.

There’s already a sitcom that lampoons Silicon Valley. It’s on HBO and it’s called Silicon Valley. (There was a hilarious scene in which a character was extremely upset over his financial losses that brought him from a $1.2 billion net worth to a $986 million net worth.)

How about the whole Mary Tyler Moore thing. Penny divorce’s Leonard and moves back to Omaha where she teaches out reach classes in theater for the University of Nebraska. Of course, she could become the TV weather girl for an Omaha station, sort of a female Ted (a Mary Tyler Moore reference. Yes, I know the University of Nebraska is in Lincoln, but I think Omaha offers more potential.

The Coopers on Mars

20 years from now, Sheldon gets accepted as part of a new Mars colony. Amy has already pledged to go with him and the two get serious about making sure their children will be optimally modified for a Martian climate. Amy takes multiple fertility drugs, asks their friends for genetic samples to enhance their offspring, and submits to DNA resampling. They want Penny’s farm toughness, Leonard’s adaptability to Sheldon’s regulations, Howard’s exposure to outer space conditions, Raj’s ability to navigate the stars, Bernadette’s high-pitched voice so that they can be heard better in low gravity, Stewart’s artistic abilities so they can chronicle their dad’s everlasting genius, and Kwipke’s competitive nature. As a result, Amy gives birth to septuplets that turn out to be exact copies of Leonard, Penny, Raj, Howard, Bernadette, Stewart and Kwipke. The Cooper kids all think their dad is behind the times and rarely listen to him.

Knowed Out, this is brilliant!

Leonard, Raj, and Howard collaborate in secret to re-create a device from the papers of a long dead French scientist which purported to create a distortions in time. Penny accidentally mentions this to Sheldon, who must immediately
disprove it as a preposterous waste of time.

Penny and Sheldon arrive just as it is powered on… but nothing happens. Everyone leaves but Sheldon and Penny who wants him to leave also. Sheldon, noticing a flaw in the device, tells Penny,
“Of course it won’t work. It would only work if there was another operational device, switched on the the exact same frequency, with one of the units travelling at a speed to slightly offset the rotation of the earth,
and even then it could only travel in one direction…”

As he tinkers with the device, there is a large flash/explosion and all of the rest to the cast rush back to find the device (and papers) destroyed with no trace of Penny or Sheldon.

Mean while, in Dijon France, in the stateroom car of Louis Le Prince, Penny and Sheldon suddenly appear. Mr. Le Prince, unfortunately, was vaporized in the transfer.
This leaves them both stuck in 1890 with no way back. Penny is pregnant, Sheldon is considered insane, and all of France is soon to become Highly Disgruntled…

Howard goes up into space again, falls into a wormhole, and lands on another planet with hot alien babes and tries to get back home, after having hot alien sex of course

Don’t care what she’s doing or where, as long as Emily stays in character, I’d probably watch her in anything.

Does any one has idea if some (ehm)porn mock spin off of TBBT exists (like Big Boobs Theory)? Not sure if I want to google that topic.
