Let's Get Froggy! A Beachy MMP.

**Mindfield ** can I please come over for supper? That sounds delish!!! Or at very least post recipes?

<pouts> I don’t like Friday being postponed.

That was hilarous by the way, lol.

I don’t want to work today. And all of my programs that I use went down. Great fun.

I bet **LOUNE’**s sleeping by now.

EDIT: YAHOOO! First on page 3!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TARA!!!

I’m going to do little bits and pieces of things today before work. Nothing taxing, and lots of reading. I feel lazy. Lots of eating things. A friend brought me Sticky Toffee Haagen-Daz yesterday, and I’ve still got 2/3 of it. That’ll be lunch.

Happy Birfday, Tarra!

Seems there’s quite a few of us September girls, doesn’t there?

I only ever got one wisdom tooth. Came in perfectly straight. My old time regular dentist pulled it so it wouldn’t move my other teefs out of line. A little novacaine, some pliers, and voila…out! rigs, does that make me semi-evolved???

Nothing exciting to report on my end.

Tupug

Head is fine this AM

Happy B’Day Herbs

So I got word that my Dad’s pre-op stuff went well and he will be admitted Friday 28th September at 2.30 PM UK time and will be first on the operation list on Saturday morning. So I will be leaving next Wednesday to get home sometime Thursday. I am worried now it is a reality as there was talk of pins and him being unable to lift for 12 weeks etc etc etc and I am only home for 4 weeks and my mam needs help etc etc etc!

Everything will be fine I know but still :frowning: this is how I feel today.

Creating a manual on how to run your desk sucks. I’m just hoping that my replacement finds it useful.

Betty Crocker in the Middle East! I know it sounds kind of weird - like the 'Merkins are invading (::snerk:: ). Ole Betty comes in handy now and then. But I do wish you guys would stop inflicting your ugly, bright orange cheese on us, not to mention that hideous stuff that comes in a squeezy pack - Cheez-Whiz - blech!

Harem pants - the closest I get is stretch waist yoga pants or occasionally (and don’t tell anyone about this) MC Hammer style happy pants! I can’t remember the last time I could wear harem pants and make them look good, although I do admit to sometimes wearing my lurid pink Valentine’s Day bra around the house (but only under a baggy t-shirt - kind of spoils the effect, I know!).

And as for living in a bottle, does the fact that MIL makes me feel like I’m living in a goldfish bowl count???

MamaT, I think Wally’s World would be a nice addition to my shopping options here. And I also think Costco would be a huge hit here - arabs lurve shopping in bulk!!! I am soooo tired of Starbuck’s though. What we really need is a nice Gloria Jean’s (I miss my Chocolate Mudslide coffee! :: drool:: ). In more interesting news, McDonald’s now has home delivery here! Yep, now you (generic you, not you you) don’t even need to drag your fat butt off the sofa to get your daily fix of cholesterol and trans-fats!!!

mmmmms, fingers crossed your Da’s op goes well and he recovers quickly.

McUne, if you want Friday to come sooner, try moving to the Mid-East. We have Friday on Thursday here. Or if you can’t wait that long, Saudi has Friday on a Wednesday (which would mean that Mork’s theory of Friday owing Wednesday a favour is blown completely out of the water!). Only problem is that Saturday then becomes Monday and Sunday is no longer a day of rest. The good news is that Monday is then hump-day … (Are you confused yet??? )

Well, my iftar contribution went down a treat today - parmesan meatballs in a cheesy bechamel sauce! Aaaand, my SIL actually gave me a really nice compliment - told me my baked goods always turn out so nice (she loved the lemon syrup pound cake, and she’s still drooling over my peanut butter chocolate brownies)! ETA: not bad considering my oven is the spawn of Satan when it comes to setting the temperature!!!

Well, I’m back from my doctor’s appointment. Did you all miss me? Plus I ran several exciting errands – a run by the drugstore, and a quick stop at the credit union to pick up Papa Tigs some new check registers. My life is SO exciting. It sounds like things were really thrilling around here while I was gone, too. :dubious:

At least the good news is the congressional [del]drivel[/del] was short enough they’re not wasting the messenger fee to send any of it to me, so I don’t have to worry about it. I truly wish I could persuade them to get equipment to convert files on tape to electronic files so they wouldn’t have to spend the messenger money (starts at $65 per run to get the stuff to my house from downtown DC), plus it saves time and aggravation for all concerned. They claim it’s more expensive than messengering. Which is one reason I’ve been trying to do as much stuff as I possibly can that requires messengering, to run up the fees to where they finally figure out that, duh-hey, it really IS cheaper to just convert. Wish me luck; these people are technologically backward like you would not believe. Drives me nuts most of the time.

Back to work. Or something.

ETA: Mickey D’s does home delivery? Good lord, the world really IS coming to an end!

Syrup-soaked cakes are very yummy. I should make one.
My Mum just brought round another bunch of maternity clothes from someone she knows at church who just had a baby. A bunch of them are pale pink and powder blue. Mr. Lissar will faint if I wear them. There’s some nice sweaters and a couple of very pretty shirts, too. She seems to dress in black, white, red, posder blue, and baby pink exclusively. I’m fine with the black and red.

Going to make some chocolate bread pudding with leftover cinnamon buns. Yum.

Heh. My life is a lot tamer after grad school, unfortunately. But the Internet installation seems to have gone well.

I now have Internet! FEAR ME!

ems – Best wishes and good luck with your father’s surgery!

Haze – I’m not scared of you. You’ll have to come here and prove your fierceness…

Here too. Almost certainly including from the branch located at Armageddon*

Make of this what you will.

  • No, this is not a joke. The word Armageddon comes from the Hebrew “Har Megiddo” – Mount Meggido. There’s a McD in the gas-station just about 500 meters from the Megiddo Junction

<—is fearing.

Hello everybody!

I’m still planning to make the pumpkin muffin/cupcakes that someone mentioned last week. I have all the stuff; I just hadn’t done it. I’m not a lemon person so the lemon cake mentioned above doesn’t appeal to me, but I still love hearing about what everyone’s making. Bread pudding made from chocolate cinnamon buns sounds interesting.

We had Rachel Ray’s Chicken Satay Stir Fry for dinner last night. (Recipe’s on foodnetwork.com; search for chicken satay.) It’s not my favorite of her recipes, but it was good and not too much work for a weeknight. I think tonight’s going to be spaghetti. It was supposed to be stuffed peppers, but I forgot to take the sausage out of the freezer! Oops.

Good, bad, and bad news:

Good - the surgeon is on board for the double replacement. He took a reminder view of VWife’s x-rays and said, “Oh yeah. On second thought…”

Bad - Since a double replacement is an all morning event, she’s been moved to the first Monday of November, with the option to do it sooner if an opening comes up.

Bad #2 - A late breaking development is her blood clotting ability has gone haywire, and that alone would have delayed Monday’s surgery. This has happened before when her lupus flares, as it is now. She’s being sent to an oncologist :dubious: to have this taken care of.

Happy Tarraday to you!!!

Another glorious early-fall day. I am so getting used to this!

Weird dreams last night - we were shopping for a duplex where we, our daughter, her husband, my mom, and my aunt could all live together. Yeah, like that would ever happen!

After I finish reading my funnies, I’m going to start a big pot o’chili for my sweetie and a tuna-noodle casserole for supper - we haven’t had one of those in ages! And I may play in clay a little later - I got an idea for a Christmas tree jar that I want to try out.

Sadly, that pretty much sums up my excitement. Nothing but junk mail today. I get to go to the Dr tomorrow after work. But that’s all.

When did I become so boring? <sigh>

Howdy Y’all!

Ick about VunderWife’s surgery havin’ to be put off BBBobbio. Least it would be ick for me. It’s the knowin’ it’s gonna happen that always get to me. Here’s hopin’ her Lupus calms down soon.

Hope you’re feelin’ better LOUNE. I, like rigs never had wisdom teeth. All my smarts stayed in my brain and didn’t grow teeth I guess.

Ok, y’all ready for this…

See, da brewry ain’t exactly hired me on as “permanent” yet though I really strongly feel they will. Thus, I’ve sorta kinda but not too hard, kept job lookin’. Well, there’s a Proctor & Gamble plant here. They make paper towels, tp (shut up Sean!) and I think diapers at this plant. Anywho… I did there on-line app thingy a couple weeks ago just cause. When I got home today I had a message from P&G about how I’d made it through their first two steps in the app process (fillin’ out the app (duh!) and takin’ this on-line test thingy) and they’d like for me to do some further testin’. Only thing is, I have to do it this Thursday mornin’, meanin’ I’d have to call off at da brewry to go do it. So, I think, hmm… do I confirm the test date (that’s done on-line) or do I say no thanks and take my chances. Then I decided to confirm the test date cause well, it’s twelve weeks now and no offer of permanent status and I absolutely do not want to be all of a sudden surprised with no employment.

Thus, I am solicitin’ opinions… good idea or not. I can cancel the testing but would need to do it tomorrow, obviously. Tell me what y’all think. Like that’s ever been a problem up in here.

Supper tonight is left over smoked chicken and N.O.T. from Sunday with some fresh lima beans which Ima bout to go cook up. Think I’ll brown up some of those breadsticks too. Wow, typin’ that made me hungry!

Oh, and because I forgot… yesterday’s brewry fashion was gray pocket t and blue jeans. Today’s was purple pocket t and blue jeans. Tomorrow’s will be dark blue pocket t and black jeans. I forgot who it was but somebody said last week he or she was lookin’ forward to brewry fashion updates.

Bummer on delaying VWife’s surgery, BBBobbio, but they truly will not do it if there’s anything else going on. My surgery got moved up by over an hour – which made it fortunate that I’d showed up early – because the person ahead of me got postponed because he a pimple on his knee. At least VWife has genuine stuff going on, not something that if all circumstances in the universe simultaneously went wrong could present a 0.0000001% chance of causing an infection! I hope she’s able to get her health issues cleared up so that she’ll be able to take an earlier date if one presents itself. Waiting around for surgery is the pits. Have you gotten a three-page-long checklist of stuff that has to be seen to before they’ll operate? Mine was scary in its thoroughness.

McDonald’s delivers from Armageddon? Why does that not surprise me?

Most oncologists are also hematologists (which are doctors of blood diseases, including clotting disorders).
MT–No way would they do surgery if there is a pimple. It could be a pimple, it could also be an early boil or a sign of a staph infection… better to be safe and infection free.

Dotty–I can’t take it anymore. Here I had a pic of you and Baby Teeth as petted favorites in the seraglio (spelling?), with enuchs (spelling?) and turbanned Sikhs standing guard. Turns out it’s all heat, fast food, inlaws and wonky ovens.
I’m crushed I tell you. Next you’ll be telling us that the toilet backs up and that you just can’t good plumbers during Ramadan!

Where are the peacock fans? Where are the small slaves sent to entertain and amuse? Where is the damned Djinn in a bottle? I base all I know of Saudi Arabia on Aladinn and the Bob Hope/Bing Crosby Road movies.

And let us have the recipe for those peanut butter brownies, while you’re at it!

Swampus–yes, go for the interview. Sounds like the beer place is doing a nasty on you–“temp” until death. That way they don’t ahve to offer you bennys etc. Grrrrr. Have you ever called in? If not, in 12 weeks, I think you safely can for this one day. Wear a nice shirt. Don’t mention your TP habits (although, I’m sure they like a good customer!). Don’t mention that you once chained yourself to a tree in order to save a forest…and good luck!
I fell asleep at 10 am and woke up at 230 pm. I must have needed it. Unfortunately, this is the kind of thing I did when I had pneumonia…

School in an hour. Joy!

Swampy you can always cancel the interview up until the time you’re scheduled to show up for it (if’n you don’t care about burning that bridge). But go for it anyway. And ask someone at work when they think you will be offered that full-time slot. Just hit them with the attitude that you’re just waiting on when, not if.

I won’t be getting new glasses until next week. I’m getting the seemless (“progressive”) lenses with anti-glare coating and half-frames similar to what I wear now. So some combination of those choices means I gotta wait a week. And there’s no way I’m telling my GF how much they cost cough $398 cough- she’ll hit the roof!

Oh, I understand why they wouldn’t want to do the surgery with a pimple, Rigs – it just would be so embarrassing to have to explain to people. At least VWife has medical issues that the average person won’t laugh at!

I too am crushed, crushed to find out that life in Bahrain is so prosaic, Dotty. Damn. What happened to the romance of the exotic? (I know, I know, MacDonald’s and Starbuck’s bought it out!)

I vote for doing the P&G interview, too, Swampy. Who knows, maybe the idea that someone else wants you might prompt Miller to get off their behinds and offer you permanent employment. And if not, in a perfect world maybe you’ll end up helping make toilet paper – could anything be better?

**Swampy ** go for the interivew.

Speaking of interviews, who was thinking about applying for a job for a different position in the company, a higher paying position. It was someone here in the MMP. What did that person decide? Speak up whoever you are, lol. I’m sorry I can’t remember who, my memory is crap lately, and I’m too young for my memory to be going.

Sean, I don’t think $398 is too terribly bad for glasses. Mine last year were in the $500 range. It’s time for my yearly eye exam too, thanks for the reminder. Since I still love my frames from last year, I think I’m just going to get my lenses replaced and while these frames are sent in wear my back up pair. Then when I get those back do the same thing with my back up pair. I am very lucky though, work reimburses for them. At least, as long as I haven’t gone through all the money in my dental/vision reimbursement account, and I haven’t. Thankfully.
