Dotty–you are blowing my assumptions about your locale right out of the water. Betty Crocker? In Saudi Arabia? Next you’ll be telling me that you don’t walk around in harem pants and live in bottles. Honestly. You’re a card!

Betty Crocker in the Middle East! I know it sounds kind of weird - like the 'Merkins are invading (::snerk:: ). Ole Betty comes in handy now and then. But I do wish you guys would stop inflicting your ugly, bright orange cheese on us, not to mention that hideous stuff that comes in a squeezy pack - Cheez-Whiz - blech!
Harem pants - the closest I get is stretch waist yoga pants or occasionally (and don’t tell anyone about this) MC Hammer style happy pants! :eek: I can’t remember the last time I could wear harem pants and make them look good, although I do admit to sometimes wearing my lurid pink Valentine’s Day bra around the house (but only under a baggy t-shirt - kind of spoils the effect, I know!).
And as for living in a bottle, does the fact that MIL makes me feel like I’m living in a goldfish bowl count???
MamaT, I think Wally’s World would be a nice addition to my shopping options here. And I also think Costco would be a huge hit here - arabs lurve shopping in bulk!!! I am soooo tired of Starbuck’s though. What we really need is a nice Gloria Jean’s (I miss my Chocolate Mudslide coffee! :: drool:: ). In more interesting news, McDonald’s now has home delivery here! Yep, now you (generic you, not you you) don’t even need to drag your fat butt off the sofa to get your daily fix of cholesterol and trans-fats!!!
mmmmms, fingers crossed your Da’s op goes well and he recovers quickly.
McUne, if you want Friday to come sooner, try moving to the Mid-East. We have Friday on Thursday here. Or if you can’t wait that long, Saudi has Friday on a Wednesday (which would mean that Mork’s theory of Friday owing Wednesday a favour is blown completely out of the water!). Only problem is that Saturday then becomes Monday and Sunday is no longer a day of rest. The good news is that Monday is then hump-day … (Are you confused yet???
)
Well, my iftar contribution went down a treat today - parmesan meatballs in a cheesy bechamel sauce! Aaaand, my SIL actually gave me a really nice compliment - told me my baked goods always turn out so nice (she loved the lemon syrup pound cake, and she’s still drooling over my peanut butter chocolate brownies)! ETA: not bad considering my oven is the spawn of Satan when it comes to setting the temperature!!!
