Let's Get Froggy! A Beachy MMP.

I gots a pot of chili simmering on the stove. **FCD ** says it’s good. It’s what he wants for supper, so I need to find something food-like for me to eat. 'Cause I don’t do chili.

**swampy ** - another vote for doing the interview. It’ll get you away from the temptation of all those fermented beverages.

**BBBobbio ** - we can commiserate about spousal surgicals. We’re still waiting to hear the date. The waiting is almost worse than the event.

**McUne ** - that was **rosie ** - and she discovered she wasn’t eligible for the position after all.

Well, gonna forage for something edible.

Rigs, **Dotty **had previously posted her PB brownie recipe:

Ingredients
Melted butter, to grease
150g (6oz) dark or cooking chocolate, coarsely chopped
100g (4oz) butter, chopped
1 cup caster sugar
1/2 cup roasted unsalted peanuts, chopped
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp cocoa powder
2 eggs
3/4 cup crunchy peanut butter, slightly warmed

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 160oC (325oF). Brush a 16cm x 26cm (6in x 10in) slab pan with melted butter to grease. Line base and 2 long sides with non-stick baking parchment, allowing sides to overhang.

  2. Sift the flour and cocoa powder into a bowl with the sugar and peanuts and combine well.

  3. Place the chocolate and butter in a large heatproof bowl over a saucepan half-filled with simmering water (ensure the base of the bowl does not touch the water). Use a metal spoon to stir until the chocolate and butter melt and the mixture is smooth.

  4. Add the chocolate mixture and eggs to the dry mix and stir until just combined. Pour into the prepared pan. Spoon dollops of the warmed peanut butter over the brownie mixture and use a round-bladed knife to swirl through.

  5. Bake in oven for 35-40 minutes or until crumbs cling to a skewer inserted into the centre. Allow to cool completely before slicing and serving (Yeah, right!!!).

Thank you ALL so much for all the wonderful birthday greetings! My Mom used to call me on my birthday, usually around the time of day that I was born (12:30 PM), so since her passing in 2003, I’ve always felt sad on my birthday. So thanks so much for cheering me up! And Mindfield, what a beautiful cake although I wish it were edible.

Swampbeer, I think you should go for the interview at P&G as well; it never hurts to keep your irons in the fire.

Hah, I wondered if someone was going to mention that the 918 should read 189! *smirks at SpecialOne. That would only confuzle me, much as military time does, unfortunately.

My day has been quiet so far, save the bus on the way home this evening - the front door wasn’t working at all, so you had to both enter and exit via the rear door. Thank goodness it was a wide one with handrails!! I usually don’t even exit via the rear door, it’s a bit dangerous (for me, at least - too easy to slip and fall!). I’m saving my celebrating for the weekend, when I’ll hopefully have a nice favorite dinner (prime rib or shrimp) and maybe some cake.

Just to make it clear, y’all, Thursday is not an interview it is a test. A four hour test to see if I got aptitudes. Kinda like I did before but seems to be enough different that it’s a whole ‘nother type of test. I went and downloaded the practice test. I know practice tests as a rule are a lot simpler but this was a piece of cake so I got no worries about takin’ the dang thing on Thursday. If’n I do good enough on the test, the next round is interview, apparently. If’n I do good then, it’s physical and drug test. I have learned since my last post that they do not offer the test part to many folks so I must appeal to them somehow.

Sean I think I will drop the hint that I’d like to know when I can be expected to be permanent at Miller. I like that.

rigs they absolutely have to decide by mid October cause of the union. They can only do the temp thing during busy season. Still… I’m tired of waitin’ around. Plus, I’ve never called off at Miller and I still may have to work this Saturday, so I wouldn’t be losin’ money if I did work Saturday.

Yeah BioTigs next to makin’ beer it’d be my dream to make tp. Though this would be on the production end, meaning I’d be makin’ sure it got out of the plant to get sold. Moooooom it could mean that I take my fear of runnin’ out of tp to a whole new level and have to build a new house to have enough room to store all the tp I might be gettin’. Plus, fermented beerverages were temptin’ me waaaaaaaaay before I ever set foot in da brewry. So There! :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously, thanks for the input everybody. It really confirms what I already felt that I should keep my options open. I shalt go testeth on Thursday.

Since nobody else has said anything about it, go take the test.

Once again, I am guilty of merely skimming. It sucks royally that I am blocked at work. And it’s a little anti climactic now, but
Happy Birthday, tarragon918!!!
I’m off to edit photos, then I will tell tales.

Take the test. It can’t hurt.

Happy birthday, Herbs!

I think I have officially moved to another planet. The weather site is saying we’re going to get rain…and possibly a bit of snow as well, overnight. Nothing that’d stick, but even a couple of flakes would be weird…well, it’s SEPTEMBER! I guess summer is definitely over. Either way, temps in the 30s and rain…iiiiiick.

It’s still a bit early Puggy but since snowbunny is talkin’ snow already, reckon we need to get out the “No Snow” signs just to be safe?

Actually, we want snow. Not enough snow = dry year = big wildfires. I want snow! I just don’t want it quite yet.

Oh well. If I’m up around 5 AM I guess I’ll see if there’s any around. I don’t have to be at work until 10, so if I am up at 5 I’m going back to bed! Neener neener!

Happy Birthday, Herbs!

:crosses fingers for Swampy’s test:

I have a dilemma, and since you all are so smart, I’m sure you have the answers. I really like my current assignment. A lot. The job as it exists right now is practically my dream job. The problem? The director is notoriously difficult to work with. This position has had a revolving door for as long as she’s had the position. I haven’t had any issues with her, though. She’s a bit abrupt, and she wants what she wants when she wants it, but she will take the time to answer any questions I have. Also, the other person on the team was her previous assistant, so obviously, promotion is possible. However. This position has been open for months this time. Before the last person filled the position, it was open for six months! There are **no **internal candidates. There’s something wrong here, but I can’t figure out what. I only heard mild rumors before, and now that I’m in the position, no one’s going to tell me anything, especially if I admit to being interested.

So, I guess my question is, how long is long enough for the director to show her true colors? Maybe she turns into a werewolf once a month, I dunno.

I heard that my area is going to have a nasty stormy winter. Anyone who wants my snow is MORE than welcome to it (you just have to arrange for the carting)

So, does anyone think swampy should take the test? I wasn’t completely clear on that.

Sorry about the knee delay, Bobbio. Hope VunderWife is all stable by November so that it can go forward without complications.

It was a beautiful day here today, too. Sunny, warm, plain ol’ pretty.

How’s it goin’ LOUNE? I was lucky to be put completely under when they pulled mine. I can’t even imagine it happening with only novocaine as some have related here.

Yay for internet at Haze’s house. Does this mean Cloud Maiden has turned up?

That’s a hard call, Jahdra. The cautious side of me would give it at least a couple of months. The carefree side of me asks: what do you lose if you’re hired for the position and it turns out to be horrible? Can’t you just go back to temping until a better opportunity comes along?

I got lots of sleep last night, but am still tired (antibiotics talking, I think). So I think I’ll crawl into bed with my book and try to fall asleep earlier than usual.

Hugs to all…

GT

ok - here’s the album
We had a great time - made a nice little bundle on the boutique - had a lot of fun performing Saturday evening, and I did a lot of walking! I mean A LOT of walking!
But I am tired now, and must try to get some sleep (since I got very little last night - one of my neighbors was having a party - who has parties on Monday nights? maybe it was a football thing?)
If you want more details*, let me know.

eta: *details about my weekend, not my neighbor’s football(?) party

ems–my best to you. 4 weeks is a long time. Will he get home health visits and physical therapy etc? Where is home? Ireland (“mam” left me wondering). let us know how it goes, and feel free to use us as a sounding board/complaint dept etc.
I want snow! It got up to 88 here today–ugh!
Jahdra–I’d give it at least a few more weeks. Perhaps the money or the hours are not what they say they are? Or she’s the Bitch Boss from Hell…?
I did a bad thing. I feel awful. In class, you can “whisper” (IM) other classmates. I “whispered” something disparaging* about the instructor–and it went to the main room chat. Instructor saw it, too. I suck. :frowning: I whispered to her my apology and I apologized in the main room, but no reply. I so suck… :o

(Instructor was being really picayune about something and I was snide)

I got home, had a martini, and threw my laundry in the wash(it was either that or buy new clothes.) Much more work this week, then a Dopefest on Sunday.

I hope Vunderwife can have her surgery soon, BBBobbio

Looks like you had fun, Rosie

Yay Internet, Haze! Boo early classes.

swampy, the solution is to work part time at Miller, and part time at P&G. The you have all your needs taken care of.

{{{{ems}}}}

Good evening everyone!

Yet another day at work, errands, and then home and supper. I feel good about work, we accomplished a lot today. Tomorrow another project will be handed to me, so I can do something new again. Yay!

I’m sorry to hear about the surgery delay, Bobbio. I hope the wife gets it sooner rather than later.

It seems as if we all agree on Swampy taking the test. Hey, if he gets a job there, he can be our super secret TP supplier. Just think, we’ll never have to buy it again. He can supply all of us and we’ll never have a TP emergency, such as I experienced a month or so ago.

Special One, my birthday is in May. May 19th to be exact. So, it sounds as if you’re just a leeeeettle bit older than me. HA-HA!

Is it Friday yet?

yay swamptest!

Happy Burfday Herbses!!!

My liver will not survive my mudder.

Dat is all.

Well, the downstairs toilet has been leaking lately, and we are still waiting for the plumber to come and fix it, despite the fact that MIL arranged for him to do it weeks ago! And it is actually quite difficult to find good tradesmen during Ramadamadingdong, primarily because they are all too tired to do anything other than yawn and smack their lips noisily in a vain attempt to produce some saliva to wet their parched throats!

I do actually have a funny story about the word “eunuch” - all to do with a short story I wrote in 10th grade. Will tell you about it later.

I don’t actually own a fan, other than the numerous ceiling fans throughout the house (and, I suppose, technically they belong to MIL). I think it will be a couple more years before we can put HRH to work for us (I dunno about slaving though - that may be a bit harsh! ), although she is already pretty adept at amusing us! As for the Djinn in the bottle (or Djinnee, if you want a girly-girl), I am still trying to train my husband to say, “Your wish is my command, mistress!” It is more difficult than you might think - the closest I have gotten is, “From your lips to God’s ears!”, which isn’t quite as effective!

Swampus, add my voice to the chorus of “Take the test!”

rosie, nice pics - it sure looks like you had a fantastic time. Did you raise much money?

Bobbio, fingers crossed all sorts itself out for VWife’s bionic knees!

taxi, thanks for reposting the brownie recipe - saved me looking for it!

Nooner, home delivered McD’s is bad enough. Home delivered from Armageddon? That just sounds like the ultimate death sentence! I gotta say, I was stunned when I first got here at all the places that offer home delivery. Not just Pizza Hut, Domino’s and Papa John’s, but Hardee’s, KFC, McDonald’s and every corner store in the country (very handy if you run out of milk or eggs and can’t just leave the baby on the lounge room floor to duck out and buy some more).

Okay, off to rouse hubby from his slumber and boot his butt into the shower to get ready for another day.

Yes, enough so that, with our upcoming show, we’ll make our budget this year

Busy day today.

~Waving~ to all the Mumpers as I boogie on through.

Haze, welcome back to internetland.

Good night and good morning everyone!
