Yes. I really do admire Bernie Sanders, and he deserves much credit for moving the “Overton window.” I like all seven on the last stage … and Bloomberg too, I guess. Although I’m doubtful Sanders would actually make a good President, I will certainly be strongly rooting for him if he becomes the nominee.
AFAIK, Sanders has pledged to strongly support the D nominee whoever it is. I’d have far more respect for Bernie’s supporters if they made the same commitment.
And then many Sander supporters are willing to throw it away by throwing a little princess hissy fit if Sanders don’t win and staying home. And poisoning the well in the meantime with their little threats and tantrums. /golfclap
The best part will be when [candidate] loses because the Sanders people were pouting and everyone decides “Well, it’s because he ran too far to the left”. Great job, kids!
This has probably been discussed before, but what is your understanding of the Sanders supporters’ view of Warren? I know she’s probably not going to get the nomination but it seems to me like there is no daylight between Warren and Sanders with respect to policies. If by some chance Warren were to become a front runner, do you think she would get the full throated support of Sanders voters?
“This year more than 60 countries will hold elections…”
How many of them have the same winner-take-all system that we have in America rather than the Parliamentary systems or others that are not beholden to Duverger’s Law?
That’s because you agree with them. Should you dare to even have the audacity to point out the hypocrisy of insulting everyone else while crying that people are insulting you by requiring you back up extraordinary claims (which you STILL have yet to do), you get such winners like:
So nah. Until you can provide anything other than your moronic opinion that the IDC, while providing literally every number they can, are screwing Sanders, you can fuck right off with your “Bernie Bros are so nice to everyone” bullshit.
You know, when Stephen Colbert uttered this famous line, I laughed and laughed about how dumb it would be to not take the half loaf of bread. Little did I know there were a shit ton of people who love swallowing Broken Glass Muffins whole.
:smack: Do you think I oppose proportional representation?
What I do oppose is the belief that tweaks in procedures will solve the main problem with politics in the post-rational world: Unqualified voters. Figure out some way to disenfranchise bigots and morons. And BernieBrats who want to blackmail us by threatening to vote Trump if they don’t get their way. Then elections might have better outcomes.
@ Jimmy Chitwood — I posted synopses of Biden’s health plan. I’m still waiting for an explanation of why it’s so horrid, why it’s corporatist Republican-lite, or whatever the Brats call it.
@ margin — I’m still waiting for you to either retract your claim that the “chained to black women” is a lie. Or, to confirm that you’re standing by the claim.
There! I have pending questions for one of the Brats, and one of the Anti-Brats. I hope this shows I’m impartial.
Who said it had anything to do with Duverger’s Law?
I responded to a useless post about that Law by trying to redirect discussion in a more intelligent and fruitful direction. You doubled-down by mentioning the “Law” yet again. If we give you a pat on the back, can we move on?
I didn’t say it was a lie; I said I was shocked Bernieholes like you weren’t jerking off to it 24/7.
Or something thereabouts.
Now is YOUR turn, asshole: that was 57 years ago, and Mr. Great Civil Rights Hero is okay with his fanbrats jeering at John Lewis and Delores Huerta. Yeah, no vague “Gee, that’s awful,” is good enough. He got his merit badge in 63, then moved to whitest Vermont. He hasn’t done shit since.
If Bernie gave a shit he wouldn’t have bragged about Joe Rogan’s endorsement. Rogan’s a birther. You know, those racist assholes who were so horrified at having a black President that they invented a conspiracy where Obama was born in Kenya.
From where I stand, I see a huge overlap between Sanders and Warren supporters. I personally like both a lot but am a shade happier with Sanders. My wife is exactly the opposite.
I see some supporters of each casting shade at the other, but not a ton of that; and when it happens, I see other progressives chiding the shade-casters.
How is there a “progressive circular firing squad”? Progressives are pretty united.
Or are you calling the entire democratic party progressive? Because, you know, that’s not even close to being true.
And I would say that, given that you have this huge wave of new political interest and voters from a younger generation that’s generally not considered to be politically engaged, and the defenders of the traditional democratic status quo are desperately trying to alienate them as I outlined in the OP and later proven in this thread, this feels much more like “traditional third way democrats shoot themselves in the foot” than “progressive circular firing squad”.
Until you provide anything approaching evidence for your conspiracy theory bullshit that got your whining ass here to complain, I’m gonna keep asking for it, and keep pointing out your failure to do so.
Add to that your vitriol and that of your fellow Bernie Bots, and I just can’t imagine why people don’t like you.
The conspiracy theory didn’t get me here to complain, someone sneering at anyone skeptical of the democratic party or supportive of Bernie by denigrading them as “Bernie Bros” and talking about them in terms of - well, hey, let me just use one of those asshole’s words:
That is what the thread is about.
This thread isn’t based on a conspiracy theory nor has the discussion had anything to do with it, but if you want to go down that route, could you do me a favor and explain this for me?
The Bernie Bro vs Moderates is a conflict that is being largely amplified within the media. The mainstream media is trying to inject conflict because that’s what they do.
An the conservative media is trying to divide the Democratic Party because that’s what they do.
I saw Bernie interviewed this morning. He was absolutely crystal clear that getting Trump out of Office is the most important goal and that he will fully support the winner and urge his followers to do so.
He’s not my first choice but I will proudly vote for him if he is the nominee and I will encourage everyone I know to do so.
But please don’t get upset or incited by stuff you read on social media. The Republicans are going to be trolling the shit out of us. They’re going to pose as angry Bernie supporters. They are going to pose as moderate Democrats and sneer at Bernie supporters. They are going to start and promote and amplify theories about the DNC cheating Bernie.
And the mainstream media is going to continue to foment conflict and , amplify minor policy disagreements and drum up and extend feuds.
I’m a moderate but I love Bernie supporters. I’ve mentioned this before, but my godson would never engage in politics and that frustrated the hell out of me. And I got nowhere with him. He didn’t vote in 2012. Or 2014.
Then he found Bernie. He became engaged. He went to the rallies. He voted. Then Clinton won the nomination. About 2 hours later he posted a thoughtful and convincing social media post about the importance of supporting her, using the #imwithher hashtag. And he and his friend threw his support behind her.
Don’t fall for the trolling, please. We can get Trump out but we have to work together.
