At some point the unions went off the rails and never found their way back. Unions are how countries and political systems become more middle class centered. Votes are an effective counter to money in a democracy but those votes have to be organized because the money most assuredly is.
Ah well.
Hillary has been divisive and has blamed everyone except herself… I have a feeling her supporters will follow suit.
More ignorance, or is it lies, from you?:
Well, we have a 78-year-old ‘Socialist’. People may buy democratic socialism, but 78 is pretty old. People may hold his recent heart attack against him.
There’s a 77-year-old guy with experience in the White House, and who may be palatable to some Republicans. But 77 is pretty old too, and even some Democrats call him ‘creepy’.
A 70-year-old woman is in the running. She’s younger than The Messiah, Sanders, and Biden. While Progressives like her changing positions on social programs, she’s been a special target of Reich-wing propaganda for years.
Hey, another 77-year-old! I like what he says in his commercials, and he doesn’t seem to have the baggage that Biden and Warren have. To be honest, I’ve always associated him with Conservative politics because of his Wall Street connections. I probably just wasn’t paying attention. Still, he seems like a newcomer to the race and my preconceptions are being challenged by his campaign.
And we have a guy who is a vigorous 38 years old. He seems to have a more progressive (as opposed to Progressive) approach to health care. That is, he seems to value practicality over idealism – which is how you move forward in a system that was built from the outset to force compromise. But he has a very big problem: He’s gay. I don’t have a problem with that, and I’m sure most people here don’t either; but I don’t think most Americans will vote for a gay president.
And old commie, an old guy who sometimes seems befuddled, an older woman who has been smeared for the past three or four years, an old guy who some might see as an insurgent, and a gay guy. With such choices, how can we (I’m including myself, though I’m a left-leaning Independent) lose?
Well, once we perfect the circularity of our firing squad, then comrade, then the Revolution will come!
CMC fnord! Also a left-leaning Independent, where ‘independent’ has always meant supporting the candidate that most aligns with my politics that actually has a chance of winning . . . which by most metrics means a Democrat.
FTR: I want Bernie Sanders. But the important thing is that the Democratic candidate beat The Messiah.
Oh, she did acknowledge contributing to her loss, but seems to have placed herself well down the list of factors contributing to her 2016 defeat.
“What happened in the homestretch that caused so many voters to turn away from me?” she writes. “First, and most importantly, there was the unprecedented intervention by then FBI Director Jim Comey.” And, she continues, “the second big factor that caused the bottom to fall out at the end of the race was the Russian plot to sabotage my campaign and help elect Trump.”

The best fall guy she comes up with is Obama.
Hillary is a non-factor these days. The only people still hung up on Clinton are Sanders supporters and Republicans.
This is basically a wild guess. We don’t know who’s going to win in the general, and Any prediction this early is just guessing.
I remember after eight years of Bush how the Democrats blew it by having it come down to woman or a black man.

With the fascists emboldened by their Messiah, I am not optimistic.
Fuckin’ A. It’s “Hillary who?” these days.
I will vote for anyone who wins the Democratic nomination. But I hope Bernie supporters will do the same if their preferred candidate doesn’t get the nomination. Otherwise we almost surely will get another 4 years of Frump. Please don’t try to take a swipe at the DNC by punishing the rest of us.
So, the fact that a Biden, and not a Bernie, Presidency would be the way to achieve progressive goals in health care is irrelevant. Got it. I’m curious about your “plot.” Is it from a fantasy novel or a horror story?
*Trump gotta shit
His thugs gotta cheat
Bernie Brats gotta Yahoo and bleat bleat bleat
Trump gonna smile
His friends will do fine
Cuz Brats gonna grumble and vote for Jilly Stein*
I’ll vote for Bernie, as it looks like he will be in the lead … UNLIKE THE BERNIE BOTS WHO SOLD US OUT WHEN THEY DIDN’T GET THEIR WAY IN THE LAST ELECTION.
Vote Blue, no matter who.
and THIS. Let’s not have a repeat of the last time.
He’s an asshole and a liar. Why waste your time?
I wonder if you see the irony here:
What behavior is more bot-like? Supporting a candidate way outside the norm who aims for significant change in the system, or “vote blue no matter who” - no matter what garbage the democratic party throws out in front of you, you have to robotically pull that lever for them no matter what?
I’m not even saying you’re wrong to tell people to do that, I’m just saying it’s pointlessly assholish, and actually really stupid to call the people who might vote their own conscience “bots” whereas the people who dutifully vote democrat no matter what not bots.
Are only the small minority of Bernie voters who won’t vote for other democrats bots, or are they all bots? What makes them bots? Their enthusiasm for a particular man? Being fed up with the fact that in this country we have extreme right wing and moderate right wing choices?
This is exactly the sort of casual insults that are unjustified, gain you nothing, and yet alienate a whole lot of people going forward. Every fucking time one of you morons insults me for wanting an actual leftist candidate in the supposedly left American party, I want less and less to do with your shitty party. You are doing your best to alienate me and millions of other voters - particularly young voters that your party desperately wants and yet complains are too apathetic to vote.
So you complain that they’re too apathetic to vote, and then when they show engagement and enthusiasm for someone outside the establishment in your party, they’re “bots” for doing so and need to be insulted.
Not only are you all a bunch of shitbags, BUT YOU ARE MAKING A HUGE STRATEGIC BLUNDER THAT WILL CRIPPLE YOUR FUCKING PARTY FOR YEARS TO COME, AND FOR NO REASON.
If defeating Trump and whatever comes after him really is the only priority, maybe you shouldn’t thumb your noses at all the fucking politically active, enthusiast young people that would want to help you do so if you didn’t keep dismissing and insulting them. Sounds like you’re not all that committed to beating Trump at all if taking swipes and insulting well-meaning progressives is more important to you.
First things first, dude. Beat Orange Idiot, then return to pulling the country leftward where it belongs.
I’ll happily vote for Bernie. And every other Dem.
