Wassamatta? Wasn’t anyone looking to name a new pansy?
The natural way, maybe. I’m sure there will be divisions offered at Gettysdope in a few years…
That plus I’m sure these folks will end up selling a plant or two to Doper gardeners; it’s actually a rather ingenious marketing ploy.
I’m in.
It appears one can vote and vote and vote over and over and over again. Now that’s my kind of voting!
Done.
Done.
Done.
Vote for Pedro… er… I mean Cecil.
Done, and shouldn’t we name 2002-098 Ed Zotti ?
I like their sense of humor. “Fill in each line below, remember to print legibly!” Quirky – seems to be appropriate for the Straight Dope crowd.
Rats, it looks as if the plant is suitable for Zone 5 growing and we live in Zone 4. I guess we won’t get it for the garden if Cecil’s name wins.
Oh – I voted too (of course!)
Done. It looked like anyone that submitted the winning name would get a flower.
It’s profoundly murky as to how they’re doing this;
“Earliest entry” would seem to indicate first person to send in (who would be me) would be the only one – but “if you provided,” which everyone who votes is doing, seems to indicate, um, everyone.
What’s the difference between nominating and voting?
And would we look greedy if we asked?
Zones are guidelines (well, fairly strongly suggested guidelines). If you plant a Zone 5 in a sheltered area in your yard (close to the house, out of the wind, with the sun and moisture that the plant requires), you will probably be quite pleased with the result. Going up and down one zone really isn’t a big deal (just don’t try it with a $200 tree!).
featherlou, thanks. I’ll have to see if the name wins out and if Mrs. H. is interested. (Heck, it’s a plant, of course she’ll be interested.)
Done.
Now let’s pick a flower for Slug …
Done.
And I think twickster’s going to owe us if he’s the only one who gets the plant.
I’m a girl twickster, not a boy twickster.
Posting pix of my garden will suffice, right?
I don’t mind not getting one; I’d probably kill it in zip flat anyway. I just want to know about it when we win.
Voted. How big do these plants get, anyway?
Not very. A well established clump might be 10 or 12 inches across, and 6 or 8 inches high.
