I’m not a fast mover anyway, so yea the slowdown is worth it.
With no bandages or anything else, there’s no way to heal up the cuts. And the cuts go deep.
You pray to Larani for healing. You feel that the prayer is sincere and heartfelt, and that you do everthing the right way.
As it turns out, the cuts aren’t that deep after all. Just a little redness. Antinor, you feel like going for a walk.
Until he rings in from Sin City, I wouldn’t volunteer him for anything.
Anyone else care to check it out?
Fair enough. I seem to be a city dweller…how are my smooth talking abilities mod man?
Oratory/70, Rhetoric/72. Pretty damn good.
Ok, I am going in. Anyone want to come with me in case whoever we meet decides they would rather see me dead?
“We might as well all go together. I can offer some protection, but we don’t want to leave Antinor all alone”
OK, you all walk over (crossing the river). You note that the tower is at an opening in the palisade. An unpaved road leads into it. There are objects piled by the sides of the road. Lots of objects. Lots and lots. They appear to be skulls.
Someone or some – THING – is in the tower. You have been spotted.
Well, shit!
No chance of running away then? How about a quick little prayer for protection and I will start in with the sweet talk
Well, that doesn’t look promising. And we are still unarmed.
examines the pile more closely
Examines the area for anything of use, especially weapons
Naf, you may want to start preparing a calming speech or get some recall of some rituals cause I’ve got a bad feeling about this. (On preview, I see that great minds think alike)
No weapons lying around as far as you can see.
Two more of the “things” appear in the tower. They are vaguely humanoid, have red fur, pointy ears, and are armored. They shout and hiss at you, and brandish crude but sharp looking weapons. You can’t understand what they are shouting, but it doesn’t sound like an invitation to tea and crumpets.
We should offer them some wine.
Can I identify the species of the ‘things’
Do I recall anything about them?
Have I had previous interactions/encounters with them?
Are the minor injuries we sustained crossing the river still affecting us?
No, no, no, and yes.
Well bah. encourages the others to try and recall something
Do they like wine?
Is there an obvious leader?
Does it look like they’re protecting something specific?
Santo recognizes them as Foulspawn. Nasty, fowl, murderous, dangerous mistakes of nature.
Naf, you might want to start trying something! We’re unarmed against dangerous foes…we just might be in need of a deus ex machina here! (Ok not exactly that…but it’s a fun term to drop into conversation)
examines the area to assess opportunities for escape or hiding if needed
:Prays for Deus Ex Machina: Do any of us speak or understand the language? Did anything come of my prayer for protection?
I suggest we all back away slowly. They don’t seem to be comming after us.
They enjoy blood, that much you know for sure.
No.
Whatever is behind the palisade, presumably.
The longer you stand there, the more excited they get. One of them starts beating a loud drum.
As far as places to hide, a couple of hundred yards down the hill are some woods.
