My vote’s for the woods.

The longer you stand there, the more excited they get. One of them starts beating a loud drum.
As far as places to hide, a couple of hundred yards down the hill are some woods.
[/QUOTE]
Hey hey, we are no longer standing here. We are backing away slowly.

Seconded. I say we turn and run away as soon as possible.
You hear the sound of a bunch more of them inside of the palisade. They are getting closer very quickly.

Are we running yet? We should probably be running by now. Also, any word on those prayers? Particularly the Deus Ex one?

Running running running.
Antinor once again is the slow poke. And without shoes – ouch.
8 of the critters emerge from the palisade. They are weilding various types of odd swords and axes, as well as roundshields.
I’ll have to see what sort of protective rituals you might have when I get home in about two hours. The only one that comes to mind is one that will protect them from you. I don’t think that’s what you had in mind.
Pray for wind, or try a ritual to that effect. We’re on an unpaved road and maybe you could create a duststorm. That could facilitate our escape.

Good call.
: prays for wind, or weather or something along those lines to use the elements against the people trying to kill us:
OTOH, hail might be useful. If only the woods offered us enough shelter, or if your spell could be cast in a localized area?
Controlling weather is some pretty powerful stuff. There’s nothing even remotely like that available to you.
About the only useful thing I can find is Banner of Mendiz. It takes 8 seconds to invoke, and forces everyone within 7 yards to make a morale check. Laranians in that range get a bonus. The problem is that the fowlspawn need to be that close when you invoke it. And even if it works, they might end up having increased morale.
Other than that you can increase someone’s endurance a bit, making them temporarily harder to kill.
Examines the foulspawn for any weaknesses
ponders any fighting skills he may recall

At the moment I think we might want to stick with straight ahead running.

Um… They’re short. They also don’t look terribly smart.
After I get some food in my I’ll generate your unarmed combat skills. You can always try punching and kicking.
You know that if you had a decent sword and a shield, you could make fowlspawn burgers in about three seconds.

The slowest of you (Antinor) is just barely keeping ahead of them. Sucks for them that they have short little legs. (They’re about 4 feet tall.)

Even with good unarmed skill, 1 on 8 is gonna make for Antinor snacks really quickly. I’ll work on some thoughts. Those survival skills have got to be good for something.

Have they not started to give up the chase yet? Crap balls. You said I could make Antinor faster? How is everyone else doing in the running away department?

Any chance we can get unarmed skills for the others? I’d rather wait for their input, but I want to try and have a rough idea of how many of them we could have a shot at taking if it comes to a fight.
Also, as much detail on the armor I could see as well.
They are wearing ring byrnies and plate halfhelms.

(Ahh, great idea… I don’t remember if I’ve mentioned it, but this is my first time with this sort of thing… either you guys have done this before, or are pretty good at faking it. :p)

I have less than 30 years experience myself!
Seriously it’s about having fun and working as a team.
tdn, I’m happy for NAF to play my character if I’m out of touch.
I will make sure Antinor is not left to face these evil pests alone.
If we have to fight, I will use unarmed combat (unless there is a handy branch).
