RE the whole GD vs GQ thing… I’m sorry. It makes extra work for you and (more importantly) it makes me look like a moron!

No problemo. Learning is a process, and the lines here are, uh, sometimes less than fully clear.
Think of it this way. If the subject is either a) something to which you hope to get a definite answer (like the thread will die when you say “thanks, dude”) or if it is an area of scientific debate (“What’s the latest thinking on the KT extinction event, and what do you think of my take on it?”), it’s GQ.
On the other hand, if it’s the kind of thing that you suspect will be debated pretty much forever without resolution (“What is the nature of God?”, “Could Janeway kick Uhura’s butt at Canasta?”), it’s GD.
