I’m starting to suspect that you and Fen are in this to help Lib. Watching you two go after him has been sort of cathartic. At first I was just nodding along with you but at some point it became ridiculous. Sort of like watching two dogs killing a deer that has been eating my wife’s roses. Sure at first I was annoyed by the deer and took some pleasure in watching it get it’s ass kicked but eventually the annoyance at the deer turns into sympathy and disgust at the viciousness of the dogs. It almost seems like a brilliant plan to get all possible criticisms of ol’ Lib on the table so to speak so they won’t dribble out over time from various posters. I know it has worked for me. Any negative feelings or feelings of annoyance I may have had for Lib have been burned away in the blistering furnace that is the seeming hatred on display from you and Fenris. So this thread has either had the opposite effect of the one you intended or the exact effect you intended. Either way I say welcome back Lib.
Was this an analogy (metaphore?..get those two mixed up) or did this really happen. Because if it really happened, I want to tell you, that is some chilling imagery right there.
There’s two issues here–1) Is Liberal lying?
For me, the answer is “I don’t care. Frankly, I doubt it.”
- Is he (again) trying to use his personal tragedies to defect attention from a pitting? If this was a one-time thing, I’d say no–but he does it over and over. If he wanted to discuss that stuff with his friends, a simple, “Hey thanks for all the nice words of support, poster x/y/z. I’d like to discuss some other stuff. Let’s meet in MPSIMS” rather than trying to use his handicapped grandson as a shield Again.

To assist you in excoriating my grandchildren accurately, none of them is handicapped. One is deceased. Another has a misshapen head that is being corrected. All the rest are perfectly healthy (one grandson and three granddaughters).
And one grandthingy is just now on the way. My wife learned of it a few days ago when her daughter phoned her a picture of our granddaughter. It took a moment to notice the tee-shirt: “I’m gonna be a big sister!”

Seriously. I can understand being annoyed by Lib sometimes. Or worried about his mental health, which by his own report and by the nature of his posts sometimes waxes and wanes. (No jibe meant, honest concern.) But the degree of hostility shown here is above and beyond annoyance (and much more offensive than use of any c-word, btw) and really should come with that explanation.
Lib has often brought knowledge and/or interesting perspectives to subjects discussed here. He rarely offends or attacks anyone else (rarely, not never) and it is not all that difficult to skip over any of his more self-serving postings if you so desire. Wht the hate?

I have to ask DSYoungEsq, why do you not follow your own advice? Why do you feel a need to post about another poster’s behavior, but for some reason are ok with Liberal’s more than strange behavior? No one forces us to read or post. Some choose to for their own reasons. But you don’t have a reason to post, admonishing someone for posting seems like a waste of time.

A question and a couple of observations:
First, is Liberal a real person (meaning has anyone met him IRL and can verify that he is who he says he is?) Or is he just an entity on these message boards?
He does appear by his behavior to be a bit on the crazy side, but he could also just be someone lonely that likes to jerk a group of strangers around. I really never thought about Liberal one way or the other until his dramatic exit a few months ago (We’re finally moving!). That was a lovely piece of crap, written for attention only. And we all gave it to him, either in the positive or negative. One thing that Liberal is very good at is thanking anyone who says anything remotely positive about him. He quotes the statement, and then thanks the person by name, and we all have to read it twice. How about PM’ing the person and thank them in private?
There are a few posters who share their personal events, but to use Guin as a comparison (sorry Guin), for some reason I believe her. Liberal has lost all credibility, not because of his continual lying (which should be enough), but also his victimization routine that just gets better and better. He posts crap, and if people don’t react with a “great to have you back, Lib!”, then it’s the negative poster’s fault for not welcoming him back with open arms, for stalking him, or generally making his on-line life hell.
I for one didn’t know much of the history that has been re-hashed in this thread. But I do remember the prediction after his goodbye message that he’d be back. Who knew the mods here were much more tolerant than the ones at the other boards? When you wear out your welcome at three message boards, it’s time to take a serious look within, and not blame your so-called tormentors.
I will do my part, however, to make these threads a bit shorter. No longer will I see Liberal’s postings, rantings, lies, apologies, cries for attention, or even a worthwhile answer. He will disappear from view. It says a ton when the two people who created the other splinter boards had to come back here to set the record straight and call Liberal on his lies. Why would I consciously choose to read anything he posts?
I forgot how nice and peaceful things were around here until Liberal came back. Now, two pit threads are dedicated to him, and I’m sure more are on the way.
Lib, you are the one child in a class of thirty that takes up 50% of the teacher’s time. Unlike the teacher in the real world, I can ignore you on a message board. I will be better off for it. If everyone else ignored you, maybe you’d just go away… After all, if you aren’t getting the attention you crave, you’ll need to go somewhere else.
For those that enjoy your antics, I’m sure they are glad you are back. I can’t imagine that being more than a handful of folks, but to each his/her own.
For the record, I don’t hate the guy. I’m not even the least bit upset about this.
My feelings towards him are about on par with my feelings for a run of the mill Internet troll.
