Liberal sparked a lot of heated discussions and some very deep debates while on this board. I signed up here after reading a thread where Lib explained essence and his view of spirituality and realized that it was the first time I’d ever come across someone with similar views on spirituality. In fact, Lib put into words what I was trying to understand. I knew the direction I was going but had never really understood where it was taking me. I guess you could say that Lib unlocked the door for my spirituality.
I have no idea why he left but I have thought about attempting to contact (via email) him to ask some more questions about philosophy and such, but his email is unlisted and an appeal through the SDMB yielded no response. I know that he referred to SentientMeat as a kindered spirit so I ask SentientMeat: Is Lib okay? He left in a bit of a huff. Also, you and Lib had many conversations about reality, essentialism, and such, could you direct me to some of those threads?
In closing, thanks Lib. You put into form what I knew only as mist.

I thought I had noticed that SentientMeat’s frequency of attendance here was dropping but thought it was my imagination.
In acknowledgement of Lib’s reputation, I almost started this in the Pit
SentientMeat is not entirely gone, I think – just on a bit of a hiatus. He posted about it a while back. But I do wonder how much he and Liberal had in common – *vide *jjimm’s post. **Liberal **was a lot sharper with his elbows than SM was, I will say that.
I didn’t say they had a lot in common but, if I’m not mistaken, Lib referred to SentientMeat as the only person he would accept to argue for Lib’s position in his absence, even though SentientMeat actually disagreed with it.
I also recall something about them having differing views but on the same path…
Really, the only thing I can remember of him is that Threadspotted thing about Eve and the rhinestone Jesus she saw on the subway, and then this other thread where he was parodying this poster (‘I’M STILL NOT IMPRESSED’) in the BBQ Pit.
I’m wishing I knew him better now, just to form more of an opinion.
The little I did interact with him impressed upon me that he had a huge chip on his shoulder–or else he was not able to interpret precise meaning in posts. In other words, he sure was quick to take offense and would argue the meaning of the word “the” (hyperbole, but still). AIR, he didn’t give much of anybody the benefit of the doubt.
I wish him well. Can’t say I miss him, though.
As far as I’m aware, Liberal isn’t posting here right now. By his own choice, if I recall correctly, but since these types of threads inevitably see posts none too complimentary about the missing in action; and since Liberal is not here to defend himself, I’m going to close this down.
