Naming names of people who aren’t participating, as though only by joining your personal cause can they fight hatred and evil is so terribly wrong that I’m shocked to find you doing it.
I let your shameful attempt to bully Esprix go, since he seemed willing to ignore it (I had a response typed out and everything). But now you’re doing it to other posters, you’ve started what, two(?) more threads trying to advertise (the Pit one, and the ATMB one) and in every one, you’re trying to shame others into joining. NO ONE has an obligation to justify, “check in”, or answer to you.
This is repulsive.
You’re starting to sound like a cross between a PBS Fund Drive on Crack and Stalin. (“Comrades, here is a list of posters who have watched Masterpiece Theatre and who have spoken of Phelps without contributing! Go find them! They must be taught a lesson!”)
In addition, a fund raising drive, even for a good cause isn’t (IMHO) good “Threadspotting” material. And for you to cast oblique aspersions on Tuba’s character (Apparently, making fun of Ikea is more critical to the goal of fighting ignorance than what we are trying to do.") is even more ugly. Lib, Tuba is a world-class ignorance-fighter. I trust her judgement far more than yours. Once again the assumption is “Lib’s priorities are more important than ANYTHING else. And anyone who disagrees isn’t fighting ignorance”.
You keep saying “This isn’t about me.” but dammit, you’re making it about yourself with your assumptions that anyone who doesn’t join this particular project of yours somehow isn’t fighting hate. And I don’t accept that. Nor will I answer the inevitable “Well, what are you doing?” question as it’s really none of anyone’s business.
Finally, this is a damned good cause. I think the plan is well thought out. I’m not knocking this attempt to undermine Phelps. On the other hand, the cause does not justify your tactics.
Aargh. Naturally, the paragraph that I left off is the critcal, final one.
Lib, I applaud your willingness and your dedication to this cause. I admire your hard work. But I think you’re getting a sort-of tunnel-vision where nothing matters except The Cause. Do you really think Gaudere (to pick a name of someone we both admire) deserved your attempt to shame her into signing up? Please, take a step back and think about how what you say will be percieved before this worthy cause is undermined.
I very much support the cause, but I must say that I have had more than one moment when I winced and said, “ooh… that wasn’t nice.” Lib, you know I’m behind you 100%, but I would also ask that you tone it down somewhat, and not start making personal attacks. I’m a newbie, so I don’t have a good long-term view of your personality and I truly can’t tell when you’re being tongue-in-cheek (like in your plea to Esprix) or when you mean it.
As our goal here is to fight hate with love, I humbly request a more loving and understanding tone and less baiting, please.
Kewl! I got my very own “Youre a trolhunter” sock!
Now I’m a real Doper!
The “signs his name” so he must be dumb thing was priceless. :: applauds :: Classic “sock” stupidity. This stuff is great. You couldn’t pay for a better textbook example!
Say something else righg! All the other trollhunter’s are gonna be jealous of me!
Aaaaawww…c’mon! Say somethin’ else! Tell me I’m a Commie or somethin’
How can I look all the other <chortle> trollhunters <snicker> in the face if you’re not gonna say somethin’ good.
Thank you for knowing what friendship really means and acting on that knowledge. I feel a bit like John the Baptist — well intentioned, but myopic. I’m fine now, thanks to you. I just hope the king doesn’t cut off my head!
