The wisest thing you have posted in the thread yet, Lib. You know sometimes it just ain’t worth the bickering, you accomplish nothing, except giving someone else the enjoyment of getting your dander up. Some comments just aren’t worth the time and effort. Rarely on this board have I seen true instances where a poster needed to defend themselves. Opinions are opinions and with the way that content of posts can be taken out of context, sometimes it’s just better to let people think what they will. In the end, it all comes out in the wash.
…and proceeds to get ravaged by a really scary woman who now has boy parts. Hehehe!!
Good post ultress.
Both sides to this should have declared victory in their own minds and walked some time ago.
Lib, Old Bean, you’re a passionate man, and I admire that. And I admire what you’re passionate about. But perhaps sometimes you could afford to put more care into translating the killer line that finishes the argument for you into one that’s going to be effective to your audience.
OTOH you’ve come in for a tremendous bollocking about various things here in the last week or so and stayed fairly cool considering.
We’ve already heard this song before, in spades, raised to a small slam, and redoubled:
One of the constants that runs through my interactions with Lib is his whole “you hate me” mantra, which for a long time had little basis other than my strong disagreements with his libertarian philosophy. He’s also told me I hate libertarianism. There’s something of a persecution complex here, IMHO.
It seems to me that, in the quest for bodhichitta (or learning radical love, to move the jargon back westerly), that the tendency to attribute disagreement to hatred is…not helpful, for a variety of reasons. But everyone has their own stumbling blocks tied to their toes.
Lib, the OP itself was telling you to come down off the cross. Did it ever occur to you that statements like:**
**and **
is exactly what people are taking you to task for?
I always defend the objects of peoples’ faith, don’t try to remain invisible, love to play devils advocate, and glory in going against the crowd when I think they are wrong, but I don’t get multiple pit threads started about me. Why? Because I don’t do the “you all hate me, but I’m going to do my best to love you” holier-than-thou bullshit.
I am not your enemy Lib, and am on your side in many debates, but the Christ complex schtick is beginning to annoy even me.
You’re probably right, Beeble.
