Life is a Beach-An End of Summer MMP

Why not a puppy *and *a pony?? And a kitten? And a gerbil!!

Our summer has ended with the exit of the inlaws. The AutoTrain should be on its way south as I type this, and by this time tomorrow, they should be home. It was nice having them visit, but it’s nicer having the house back.

**FCD **went to see a dermatologist today and they hacked a hunk of his face off. I suspect it was more preventative, since it didn’t look like a melanoma to me. We’ll find out after the biopsy results come back. Meanwhile, his beard is a bit assymetrical.

It’s rained on and off most of the day, and while it’s not hot, it’s really muggy, so I closed the house and turned on the air. With luck, I can reopen the windows at bedtime.

I’s exhausted. We went for milkshakes last night and mine had an unpleasant effect on me - I was in and out of the bathroom at least six times. Guess I’m more lactose intolerant than I thought. But I’m fine now. So don’t worry…

**Missy **- take the money. You’re entitled, you’re not gaming the system. But if it’ll make you feel better, you can use the cash to take me to lunch! No, I don’t mind - that’s what friends are for!

Thanks, Bob, swampy, and FCM! Now I’m leaning toward doing the severance thing. Luckily, I don’t have to make a final decision until the 15th (well, technically I have 45 days after that to decide, but it’s easier to just turn in the paperwork on my last day).

Go swampy! Go swampy! Go swampy!

FCM, I haven’t turned my AC off yet, either – even though yesterday was cool, and temps should be low all week. I just can’t stand humidity. When temps are low and it’s not going to rain every day for a week maybe I’ll open the windows again.

Happy Monday, y’all! (hic) I’m at work: have four long days before Friday, in which I’ll be off to be with my hubby for surgery. Seems like typing this got rid of my hiccups! Joy! Thank you guys!

My favorite sign: any unattended children will be given Espresso and a free puppy.

Missy, wait and file severance. You’re not gaming the system: they’re paying you off to get you to leave. I left a job in 2002: we were moving to another state and I had a job already lined up and waiting for me. Our company was going through a whole lot of layoffs: there was a cut just before I left. If I hadn’t given two months notice, I was going to be laid off. So I missed out on the severance pay.

Take it and don’t feel guilty. At all. You’ve earned it!

So Thursday after rehearsal, my quartet practiced our song a couple of times and were quite pleased with how good we sounded. Yesterday at the gig, we got off to a rocky start, started over and somehow our lead couldn’t find the key. We sounded horrible. But the audience didn’t seem to mind. That’s the nice thing about singing at Senior Centers - the audience is always appreciative. My lead later admitted her head wasn’t in the game and she couldn’t focus. Oh well, Them’s the breaks.

Definitely take the severance, Missy.

I love that puppy/espresso sign, too,** Annie**.

::waves at misstee::

I’m home from work, deciding what to do for dinner.

Back later…

[Happy dance] HUBBY IS GOING BACK TO WORK!![/happy dance] He’s been off with pneumonia for 66 days. I love him very much, but damn.
We’ve replaced everything from the home invasion, and I’m sleeping again. We got the truck back, with just a broken windshield.

Hope everyone is well and happy… later kids.

StG I say a puppy, a kitten, a pony, a gerbil and a set of drums. It’ll keep the little ones occupied while mommy and daddy tend to the new baby. It’d be much appreciated. Trust me!

Chicken 'n dumplin’s were teh num! Just so it’d be healthy we also had a green sallit. Plus, the last of the cheesecake for dessert. I thoughtfully saved it. I could have eaten it yesterday but decided to be nice instead. I pointed this fact out to OYKW who said, and I quote…

“Well, that was nice! If it had been me, I’d have snarfed it all down without a thought.”

See, I’m the good one!

ETA: Yay for hubby goin’ back to work picu!

ETA 2: Yay for gettin’ stuff back and a mostly undamaged truck picu!

I had to get an MRI a few years ago so I went to a place near where I work. As the lady tech was leading me down the hall towards a cubicle she was saying in the mono-tone “You will need to remove all your clothes and put on the smock on the bench inside the changing room”. I replied without missing a beat “OK - but you’re going to have to buy me dinner afterwords”.

She stopped dead in mid-stride and turned to look at me with this big old grin and she said “You know, I bet half the men I’ve said that to in the last five years have wanted to come back with a line like yours. You are the first one to actually do so”.

Later that week I was at Einsteins Bagels for lunch and just as I was getting ready to pay I heard someone shout “It isn’t dinner but its on me” - it was the tech flipping her credit card at the check-out girl ninja style. It was a good lunch - I like smartasses too!

Survived another day at work, I have 3 people out sick, and a surprise shipment is showing up tomorrow. Oh Joy!

Dollar Tree sells a wide variety of things that make a dreadful cacophony and/or stain the rug. Personally I prefer cheesecake.

Hi, misstee! But the end of summer means the start of hockey!

Sorry about the butt, VBob. Love the nurse.

Ruble, hee!

Congrats, picu!!!

Hurrah for the happy news, Picu! Sorry about the sciatica, BBBBobbio but yay about the tech.

Up, caffeinated, at work. Is it only Tuesday?! Opthamologist appointment on -November- 1st; hopefully my eyes will last until then. LOL

Happy Tuesday all!

Swampy, yesterday was definitley a pointy stick kind of day but it was productive in the end because I badgered a few tutors into agreeing to supervise student projects.

Today I am packing up my desk and sorting out what I will be taking with me to the med school when I move there tomorrow. I have brought lots of cake and cookies to the office for people, but we’re not having them until this afternoon as one of my colleagues is coming in late and I don’t want her to miss out.

It’s Fat Club tonight and I am not expecting anything good to come of it. My scales were quite rude this morning and I shall give them a pointy sticking if they’re not careful.

Up, caffeinated, off to irk. Going to the Bistro for the Canes Corner tonight.

Irk is irksome. I had nothing to do with this new assembly, and now I have to do the drawing.

Yesterday was fun at the weld shop, though! We found a few errors, so that’s good that we caught them before they finalized the welding. (It was just tack welded.)

Laterz…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienated.

The low this mornin’ was 56 Amurrkin! Why, I fully expected to see an iceberg floatin’ in the cee-mint pond! The high will only be mid 80s. Is it time to pull out the woolies?

BooFae next time you weigh, get on the scales with pointy stick in hand. I bet that’ll make those scales behave!

Ok, off to purtify. I need to drop off a couple of resumes and go grocery shoppin’. Ick! I like to cook but I dislike intensely shoppin’ for food.

Although, you should make sure that it’s the lightest weight pointy stick that you can find. (Made of space age materials, maybe.)

Ok, so my printer is completely possessed and is spontaneously printing a second copy of something that it finished printing a few minutes ago.

I think it’s time for breakfast.

The quack just called me with my radiology report from yesterday. Minimal degeneration noted between L4 - L5 and L5-S1 vertebrae; no apparent bone spurs or calcium deposits. Neurosurgical consult is not indicated.

“You have arthritis in your spinal column.” No shit? Considering it’s a known factor in my hips, shoulders, and hands, I’m not surprised in the least.

So, the plan is to give me a week of dammitol therapy to allow this episode to pass, then refer me to physical therapy. Been there and done that, so I don’t mind. The doc has been pestering me to exercise more anyway, maybe I can get a gym membership on a prescription.

In other news, I killed more hopping amphibians on the morning commute again, but nowhere near the scale of yesterday’s massacree.

Swampy, you better dig out the parka and find a Zamboni to smooth the ice on your ceement pond…

MissTee, LONG time, no flirt. How you doin’?

No. Next question.
The main reason I don’t eat my nephews is that if I did, I wouldn’t have them any more. This weekend has been used confirming that, setting up informal bets with the Bros about when will Mom actually visit Down Here (I’m betting on “after Christmas”), and verifying that while there is only a 5ºC difference between Down Here and Up There, the lack of wind and clouds Down Here makes it feel more like 10ºC.

I had a really awful depressing night at work last night. We had about 5 or 6 euthanasias, I lost track. One of which was a 3 year old dog that had already had surgery and chemotherapy for a brain tumor. At least the others were all very old and had severe illnesses.

Then we had a one year old large dog with possible thoracic lymphoma or lymphosarcoma. The smears of the chest fluid did not look good, but we are not pathologists so we referred him to specialists for an definitive diagnosis and possible chemotherapy if they decide to go that route.

I ended up staying two hours after my shift ended helping with the big dog. I’m tired and want a vacation.

Oh, joy of joys. Another tropical depression has formed and will head north across Cuber, the east coast of Flarduh and along the coast. No matter where it strays within the cone of uncertainty, Cottonfield County will be hit late Thursday-Friday morning.

Only questions are TS or hurricane, and how far east of the VunderLair will the eye pass?
