Life is good but I have questions.

As I have posted before, I have moved into my condo and I’m happy as a pig in the sunshine for two new reasons:

1.0 I bought all my furniture at Rooms To Go; at the time I bought it, they were handing out new TVs with some minimum dollar purchase. Today, I accepted delivery of a new 40" Samsung with bells and whistles I haven’t yet figured out. It shore is purty.

2.0 My sister, the saint, has given me, as a house warming present, a new Dell Inspiron 570. I like it and have already downloaded and am using Firefox and Thunderbird.

My question concerns the computer; actually the screen display. I cannot seem to make the default font size anything other than minuscule. I have to repeatedly do CTR+ just to make the print readable. If I look at the screen resolution, my maximum value is 1600 X 900; I had thought it would be higher. The default font is New Times Roman with a size of 16. I have specified a font size of 150% of the default size but see no changes. If anyone can offer a suggestion, I would greatly appreciate it.

In the meantime, life is good and is getting better day by day. I’m walking with the assistance of a cane now; the walker is gathering dust. I’ve had no cravings for pain pills; this living alone thing is great, at least for now.

Peace.

Forgive me if I am reading this wrong but for screen resolution, higher = smaller. It sounds like you want a lower one. Not all of the smaller ones will display correctly so you have to step down until you find the size that works for your monitor and looks correct to you. Things display bigger the further you go down. You may have to adjust other display settings to get things to look right as well.

You need to change your dpi setting. Here is a very good explanation.
