Getting the perfect rhythm, moving in perfect harmony with the horse, while horseback riding.
I forgot to add this one:
Hearing someone say “You look just like your mother!”
I think my mother was the most beautiful woman in the world, so it is always a treat when I go see relatives and old friends in Florida. I’ve even had strangers in Leesburg ask me “are you related to Melba Works?”.
The unsolicited hug of a child.
Sitting in a boat fishing, bobbing in the waves and not caring if you catch anything.
A banana split when your really hungry.
A 29 hand in cribbage. Had my second in 40 years of playing last Saturday night.
At family get togethers, after everyone has eaten and the guys all wonder off for a smoke and belch session, being the first to rip off a good fart.
Watching a momma Gambel’s Quail walking with her little babies following closely behind.
The stillness and gray light of dawn.
The rare sighting of a big eared Kit fox.
The sweet smell of flowing water that you get when coming up on a river or irrigation ditch while in desert country.
The smell of leaves in autumn.
Snuggling up on the couch with my wife.
The way my pet cockatiel climbs up my chest to rest her head on my chin so I can rub her head and neck.
A big hug from my granddaughter.
Looking out on my little yard after I’m done cutting grass and trimming everything. (Probably because I know that it’s the longest possible time before I have to do it again.)
A shower in the morning.
Realizing that you don’t have to go to work today.
Seeing a little rain shower outside and going to just stand there and enjoy it.
Laying back, streching out, and letting the music surround you.
Taking a nice, long walk on an autumn night.
A cigar and a beer with friends.
I forgot to mention the feeling of having a clean face (or I suppose any other body part) after shaving.
