She has never been shy about nude photos, but I suspect a body double as she was not as skinny as her normal beach photos show. But a boy can fap, can’t he?
It’s not that dumb a question. Jail overcrowding is a serious issue in L.A., so nonviolent offenders are generally let out of jail after serving a small fraction of their sentence.
I knew someone would be a jerk about it but it’s not outside the realm of possibility that someone unfamiliar with California law would like to see some facts rather than endless rants about how “you can get away with anything if you’re rich and famous!”
Sometimes an addict is also an asshole. In fact, it’s not at all uncommon for people compeltely without conscience to become physically addicted to drugs. For the psychopath, being high is that’s the closest they come to feeling joy, and ectasy often gives them their first clue of what bonding feels like.
To the extent we can judge from the news we receive of her life, Lohan was an asshole long before she was an addict.
“Schadenfreude” means malicious happiness, happiness at someone’s misfortune. I don’t see anybody happy about this. Dismissive, sure, and IMHO rightly so.
She has enough money to buy as much rehab and psychiatry as she needs. Yes, it really is that simple. If she chooses not to do that, that’s unfortunate. But there’s no reason for me to waste any more than a trivial amount of sympathy on her.
The schaudenfreude is unpleasant, but I’m not sure you’re right about jail time not helping. I’m not saying it’s the best way to help her, but forcing treatment on her doesn’t seem to be working. Significant jail time (say, a year) might just be a wake up call.
I’m wondering the same thing. And, no, I’m not kidding. How many people do you know that have done the same thing the she has done and received tougher sentences?
I’ve heard that she’s getting harder treatment. I think. I know the knee jerk reaction is to assume celebrities get special treatment, but is this really the case?
On “The Soup” on Friday, Joel rattled off her twitter posts from last weekend, and from memory went something like:
“It’s true, I failed another drug test”
“I take responsibility for my actions”
“Substance abuse is a disease and I’m working really hard”
“I am taking positive steps”
“Happy birthday to the best mom ever!”
Which part gets the eyebrow raise, taking responsibility for her actions, admitting she has a problem, or wishing her mother a happy birthday?:dubious:
She’s not a kid, she’s an adult, and has been for at least 6 years, according to most legal definitions.
She’s a danger to innocent adults and children, driving intoxicated. She has been treated 50 times better than she deserves, so she is getting more sympathy than I would get.
What do you mean, show her some sympathy? When did she show sympathy for me? If one of her fellow drunk drivers kills me tomorrow, what will she do? She won’t show any sympathy.
She is a popular woman, who is playing the fool. She made her bed, and you are crabbing as though WE are the dangerous felons, not her.
She may not. She had a few successful movies in which she was paid really well, but hasn’t had any significant role in years. In the meantime, she is expensive - her clothes, travel, and habits are not cheap. And where when she was a “star” a lot of things came free - people would pick up her tab to get her into their bar or give her clothes so she could be photographed wearing them - she’s become more of a liability and the freebies are drying up. She treats herself as a “star” with a personal assistant. She’s also had significant legal fees. There have been several gossip sites in the past year or so that say she’s functionally broke and basically living off her name right now. And the value of her name is going down fast - with the exception of pictures you buy off the paparazzi and which she doesn’t get a piece of.
