Now here’s a couple of good questions from all the guys who wander around aimlessly in lingerie shops looking for gifts for their girlfriends…

First: I’ve heard that the garter belt was invented by Gustave Eiffel, the same guy who designed the Eiffel Tower. Apparently, the base of the tower (4 legs) was the inspiration for his design. Any truth to this, or just some urban legend?

Second: where does the merrywidow get its name from? Is it named after the opera?

Isn’t buying lingerie for your girlfriend/wife more like buying a present for you rather than her?

Hmm I’ve found with my last girlfriend that a simple negligee(sp?) can work out for the two of you. She feels sexy putting it on, and you can feel sexier taking it off.

Great gift imho.

I would rather get a gift certificate for lingerie… so I know what size to buy and can pick out a style I like, rather than just having him guess at what I’d like (based on what he thinks would look good on me).

That’s only if you don’t trust your partner’s tastes. I’ve been doing this for 3 Valentine’s Days now, and I am a perfect 3 for 3.
